Renton, WA (Sports Network) - Antoine Winfield has retired from the NFL after 14 productive seasons.
The three-time Pro Bowl cornerback was released by the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday after signing with the club in the offseason.
"Wishing Antoine Winfield the best in his decision to retire," Seahawks coach Pete Carroll posted on Twitter. "He's a consummate pro and a great team player. We were lucky to have him!"
Winfield had spent the previous nine years playing for the Minnesota Vikings.
Last season, Winfield had 101 tackles and three interceptions. A first-round draft pick in 1999, Winfield played his first five seasons for the Buffalo Bills and finished his career with 972 tackles and 27 interceptions.
