Green Bay, WI (Sports Network) - Green Bay released quarterback Graham Harrell on Sunday, meaning that Vince Young will likely be the Packers' No. 2 quarterback behind Aaron Rodgers.
Harrell failed to impress the coaches in Friday's 17-10 preseason loss to the Seattle Seahawks. The Texas Tech product spent the previous three seasons with the Packers.
Young, who was signed by Green Bay earlier this month, last played with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2011. He played in six games that season and threw for 866 yards with four touchdowns and nine interceptions.
The 30-year-old Young was with the Buffalo Bills during the 2012 preseason. He was cut before the season started.
Young, the third overall pick in the 2006 NFL draft, spent the first five years of his career with the Tennessee Titans. In 60 career games, Young has thrown for 8,964 yards, 46 touchdowns and 51 interceptions.
The Packers also released wide receivers Alex Gillett, Omarius Hines and Justin Wilson, running back Angelo Pease and defensive tackle Gilbert Pena. Additionally, the team signed kicker Zach Ramirez.
