Description: Former Pistons and Jazz center Mehmet Okur retired from the NBA on Thursday.
Insight: Okur contemplated playing overseas for a while but apparently he has decided to hang it up. The 33-year-old averaged 7.6 ppg in 17 games for the Nets in 2011-12.

Description: Free agent center Mehmet Okur isn't willing to sign for the veteran's minimum and appears to be weighing his options.
Insight: It looks like Okur might be headed overseas as Real Madrid in Spain and Galatasaray in Turkey have both shown interest in the former Pistons and Jazz center. Most recently, Okur played for the Nets logging 26.7 minutes per game in 17 contests during the 2011-12 season. He averaged 7.6 ppg on 37.4 percent shooting during the campaign.

Description: Okur (back) is expected to miss at least the next three weeks.
Insight: At this point, there is not much of a reason to hang onto the injury riddled big man. The chances of him producing anything this year is becoming even more remote. (RapidDraft.com)

1/31/2011 5:00:00 PM
Description: Okur (back) is doubtful to play tonight for the Jazz. It seems his back is stil not where it needs to be for him to play at a high level.
Insight: The Jazz are also expecting Deron Williams to be out for tonight's game. Okur hasn't been worth playing in fantasy anyways and should be left on the waivers for now. (RapidDraft.com)

1/12/2011 7:02:00 PM
Description: Okur (back) will return for tonight's game. He is only expected to play 5-6 minutes in the first half though.
Insight: He'll play 5-6 minutes in the first half and then see how he feels going forward. Okur is a backup now and is likely on waivers in most leagues as he doesn't have much value as long as Pual Millsap and Al Jefferson are healthy. (RapidDraft.com)

12/20/2010 7:02:00 PM
Description: After spraining his right ankle in a pre game workout, Okur will miss tonight's game.
Insight: This latest injury will leave Okur day-to-day. (RapidDraft.com)

12/13/2010 10:04:00 AM
Description: Okur could return to the Jazz lineup by Christmas, according to the Deseret News. Jazz President Randy Rigby made the announcement on Sunday during a television show.
Insight: Okur is returning from a ruptured Achilles' tendon, so he may be a reserve for the early going. Eventually, he could move into the starting lineup which would make for an interesting dilemma for coach Jerry Sloan. (RapidDraft.com)

10/14/2010 9:05:00 PM
Description: According to Rotoworld.com, Okur reportedly "moved around well" during the Jazz's shootaround on Thursday and spent his time shooting mid range jumpers.
Insight: Although he is traveling with the team on the road, his teammates still think he won't return before December. It's still good news that he's with the team and participating in basketball related activities. (RapidDraft.com)

Insight: This doesn't mean he will return in the near future. Okur doesn't figure to be much of an impact for fantasy purposes until the calendar turns to 2011.

10/12/2010 11:01:00 AM
Description: Okur will not travel with the team during the rest of the preseason, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.
Insight: Okur is recovering from an injury to his Achilles' heel. There is no specific time table for his return, but he will not likely be back before the All-Star break. (RapidDraft.com)

9/14/2010 11:03:00 PM
Description: The Jazz are hoping Okur can make it back before the All-Star Break after having achilles surgery on April 17th.
Insight: The Jazz will rely heavily on newly acquired center Al Jefferson and power forward Paul Millsap. (RapidDraft.com)

Description: The Jazz are anticipating that Mehmet Okur will be sidelined until December or January. SOURCE: Salt Lake Tribune
Insight: This was pretty much the timetable from the beginning and Paul Millsap has a nice chunk of value in all formats. He has more value in leagues that don't count free throw percentage and is a legitimate double-double threat with some blocks. Okur is not worth drafting at this point and might be worthy of a scoop around Thanksgiving in standard leagues.

11/6/2008 9:03:00 AM
Description: Okur had an excellent game on Wednesday night against the Trail Blazers with 22 points and 9 rebounds.
Insight: He is still not making many three-pointers, but he has improved his performance in every game this season. (SportsBuff.com)
