Milwaukee Bucks (3-2) at Philadelphia 76ers (4-2), 7 p.m.
(Sports Network) - Following their best road performance since 2003, the
Philadelphia 76ers kick off a five-game homestand on Monday night against the
The Sixers began the campaign by losing two of three -- getting swept in a
home-and-home set by the New York Knicks -- before taking all three games of a
swing through New Orleans, Boston and Toronto. It marked the first time
Philadelphia played at least three straight road games and did not lose a
single contest since a three-game trek from Feb. 16-21, 2003.
One night after knocking off the Celtics, the 76ers got 16 points and eight
rebounds from Thaddeus Young on Saturday in a 93-83 triumph over the Raptors.
Young has posted at least 12 points and five rebounds in all six games for
Philadelphia this season.
Nick Young and Jrue Holiday also had 16 points each and Spencer Hawes came off
the bench to add 12 points and 11 boards.
The effort of Philadelphia's reserves was key to the win according to head
coach Doug Collins, though the club comes in better rested on Monday.
"If we were going to win this game, our bench was going to have to come up
big, because we were tired," Collins said.
The 76ers will now enjoy a stretch of five straight and eight of nine at home
as they eye a fourth straight win. They are mirroring the start of last
season, when they also went 1-2 before rattling off a season-high six straight
The Bucks will aim to slow down the Sixers and avoid a third loss in four
games that has put a damper on a 2-0 start. Milwaukee was last in action on
Saturday, when it dropped a 96-92 decision to Boston.
Monta Ellis netted 11 of his game-high 32 points in the fourth quarter and
former Sixer Samuel Dalembert donated 14 points and eight boards in defeat.
"We fought hard the whole game, but in the end, they hit the shots they had to
and we didn't," Ellis said.
The Bucks have won both of their road games so far this season, picking up
wins at Boston (Nov. 2) and Washington (Nov. 9).
Since Philadelphia won six straight meetings with Milwaukee from Jan. 30,
2008-Oct. 30, 2009, the clubs have split 10 encounters. The 76ers have won the
past three at home over the Bucks in that span.
