Cleveland, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Former No. 1 draft pick Anthony Bennett has had his tonsils taken out.
The Cleveland Cavaliers said Bennett underwent successful tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy procedures on Tuesday at Cleveland Clinic.
The surgeries were elective and pre-planned to allow Bennett to heal in time for NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, the Cavaliers said.
Bennett, a 6-foot-8 forward, averaged 4.2 points and 3.0 rebounds in 52 games for the Cavaliers as a rookie this past season.
