San Antonio, TX (Sports Network) - The San Antonio Spurs re-signed center Tiago Splitter on Saturday.
The 28-year-old Brazilian set career highs across the board last season, his third in the NBA. In 81 games, he averaged 10.3 points and 6.4 rebounds while shooting 73 percent from the free-throw line.
"Tiago is a great fit in our system and we are delighted that he has elected to sign a long-term contract to remain with the Spurs," said general manager R.C. Buford in a statement. "Thanks to his work ethic and basketball IQ we have seen him improve each season in San Antonio. He was a key reason for our success during the 2012-13 season and we look forward to his future contributions."
The Spurs selected the 6-foot-11 Splitter in the first round (28th overall) of the 2007 NBA Draft. He joined the club for the 2010-11 campaign and has seen his numbers improve each year.
In 200 career NBA games, Splitter has averaged 8.3 points and 5.1 rebounds.
