Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - The Golden State Warriors officially acquired swingman Andre Iguodala on Wednesday as part of a sign-and-trade transaction involving three teams.
Iguodala's previous team, the Denver Nuggets, sent the unrestricted free agent to Golden State, with Utah shipping guard Randy Foye to the Nuggets.
The Jazz, who also shipped guard Kevin Murphy to the Warriors, helped facilitate the trade by taking on the hefty contracts of Warriors center Andris Biedrins and forwards Richard Jefferson and Brandon Rush.
As a result, Utah also acquired a a pair of first round picks (2014 & 2017), second round picks (2016 & 2017) and cash considerations from Golden State, while also receiving a 2018 second rounder from Denver to complete the deal.
Multiple sources stated on Friday that Iguodala, an Eastern Conference All- Star with Philadelphia in 2012 and one of the top available players on this year's market, had agreed to a four-year, $48 million contract with the Warriors.
"Andre Iguodala was a free agent that we targeted from Day 1 and we are thrilled that he chose to join our team," said Warriors general manager Bob Myers. "His versatility as a player should help us tremendously on both sides of the court and we feel that his specific, unique skill set blends very well with the players already on our roster."
Foye was also an unrestricted free agent, but Yahoo! Sports reported Sunday that the Jazz would sign the long-range shooter to a three-year, $9 million deal before sending him to Denver.
Foye is coming off a 2012-13 season, his first with the Jazz, in which he set a franchise record with 178 makes from 3-point range and shot 41 percent from that distance while averaging 10.8 points over 82 games. The seven-year pro had signed a one-year contract with Utah last July.
Iguodala, 29, averaged 13.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 1.7 steals per game during his only season with the Nuggets in 2012-13.
The nine-year veteran has produced 15.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 1.7 steals per game over the course of his career. He spent his first eight seasons with the 76ers.
Biedrins was the 11th pick in the 2004 NBA Draft and has played his entire nine-year career in Golden State, totaling averages of 6.4 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.14 blocks over 510 regular season games.
Rush, a five-year veteran, missed the last 80 games of the 2012-13 season after tearing the ACL and MCL in his left knee.
The 33-year-old Jefferson appeared in 56 games with Golden State last season. He owns career averages of 15.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game over 12 seasons with New Jersey, Milwaukee, San Antonio and Golden State.
