Jupiter, FL (Sports Network) - The St. Louis Cardinals have agreed to terms on a five-year contract with first baseman/outfielder Allen Craig.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but the pact includes a club option for 2018.
Craig belted 22 homers, drove in 92 runs and batted .307 with a .522 slugging percentage in 119 games last season. He missed the first month of the campaign recovering from offseason knee surgery.
"We are pleased to have reached agreement with Allen on a new multi-year deal," said Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak in a statement Friday. "He has been a productive middle-of-the-lineup hitter throughout his professional career and we look forward to Allen's continued contributions."
Craig was instrumental in the Cardinals' 2011 World Series championship, hitting three homers during the Fall Classic against Texas. He also tied a record with three game-winning RBI in the seven-game series.
In 238 games since making his big league debut in 2010, Craig is a .300 hitter with 37 homers and 150 RBI.
