Running Back Player Notes
For The Last 15 Days

Ryan Mathews, RB, SDC12/19/2014 4:48:00 PM
Description: Chargers running back Ryan Mathews (ankle) will not play Saturday versus San Francisco.
Insight: Branden Oliver and Donald Brown will continue to share the workload, with Oliver being the better flex option.
Carlos Hyde, RB, SFX12/19/2014 4:47:00 PM
Description: 49ers rookie running back Carlos Hyde (ankle/back) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Chargers.
Insight: If Frank Gore is unable to suit up, Alfonso Smith or Phillip Tanner would start for San Francisco.
DeMarco Murray, RB, DAL12/19/2014 2:13:00 PM
Description: Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray (hand) will make the decision to play or sit, according to Adam Schefter.
Insight: If that's the deciding factor, you can expect Murray to play. That also means you have to start him, given he's been the best running back in the league all season, and hope he gives you a full 60 minutes.
C.J. Spiller, RB, BUF12/19/2014 2:05:00 PM
Description: Bills running back C.J. Spiller (broken collarbone) is probable for Week 16.
Insight: Head coach Doug Marrone said this week's practice will dictate how much Spiller plays. We still like Fred Jackson to get the majority of the work, so leave Spiller on your bench.
Rashad Jennings, RB, NYG12/19/2014 2:03:00 PM
Description: Giants running back Rashad Jennings re-injured his ankle last weekend after missing every practice should be downgraded to out for Sunday of Week 16.
Insight: Andre Williams will get the full work and is a viable fantasy option.
Jonathan Stewart, RB, CAR12/19/2014 2:02:00 PM
Description: Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart will have the backfield all to himself in Week 16 and is a solid fantasy value.
Insight: DeAngelo Williams is not expected to play in Week 16. That means 20-plus touches for Stewart.
DeAngelo Williams, RB, CAR12/19/2014 1:59:00 PM
Description: Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams (broken bone in right hand) is not expected to play in Week 16, according to beat writer Joe Person.
Insight: Jonathan Stewart owners should be happy as the value of Stewart should jump with a full workload.
Jordan Todman, RB, JAC12/19/2014 9:23:00 AM
Description: Jaguars backup running back Jordan Todman rushed for more yards than anyone in the Thursday night game, but did most of the damage on a 62-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter
Insight: Toby Gerhart rushed 12 times to five for Todman and three for Storm Johnson, so Todman's fantasy value is minimal moving forward.
Toby Gerhart, RB, JAC12/19/2014 9:21:00 AM
Description: Jaguars running back Toby Gerhart was the primary running back Thursday night rushing 12 times for 53 yards and a touchdown.
Insight: Jordan Todman ran for more yards because of one huge play, but Gerhart was the nominal workhorse and should be the back to own in Week 17.
Leon Washington, RB, TEN12/19/2014 9:16:00 AM
Description: RB/KR Leon Washington led all Titans receivers with seven receptions for 62 yards and a score.
Insight: That's why Titans QB Charlie Whitehurst is called "Charlie Checkdown." Washington also rushed four times for 11 yards.
Shonn Greene, RB, TENCold12/19/2014 9:09:00 AM
Description: Titans running back Shonn Greene rushed for just 28 yards on seven carries against Jacksonville.
Insight: It appears the 16-carry game against the Jets was just the coach hoping he'd be inspired by facing his old team. Rookie Bishop Sankey saw twice as many rushing attempts.
Bishop Sankey, RB, TEN12/19/2014 9:06:00 AM
Description: Titans running back Bishop Sankey apparently had the "hot hand" as he saw twice as many carries as Shonn Greene.
Insight: After just three carries against the Jets and nine the previous game, Sankey rushed 14 times for 44 yards against Jacksonville. He still wasn't fantasy worthy.
LeSean McCoy, RB, PHI12/18/2014 4:57:00 PM
Description: Eagles running back LeSean McCoy admitted to CSN Philadelphia that backup running back Chris Polk is taking over as the team's goal-line runner.
Insight: Polk played just three snaps versus the Cowboys in Week 15, but he scored on two of them. Another goal-line carry went to Darren Sproles who scored. McCoy will continue to lead the team in rushing, but the emergence of Polk and the addition of Sproles as significantly hurt McCoy's value.
Ryan Mathews, RB, SDC12/18/2014 2:29:00 PM
Description: Chargers running back Ryan Mathews (ankle) was inactive for Week 15 and has yet to practice this week leaving him with a doubtful tag for Week 16.
Insight: Branden Oliver and Donald Brown will continue to have value, with Oliver being the slightly more preferred player.
Rashad Jennings, RB, NYG12/18/2014 1:45:00 PM
Description: Giants running back Rashad Jennings re-injured his ankle last weekend and is doubtful for Sunday of Week 16.
Insight: Jenning has missed both the Wednesday and Thursday practices. Andre Williams will get the work and is a viable fantasy option.
Carlos Hyde, RB, SFX12/17/2014 5:48:00 PM
Description: 49ers rookie running back Carlos Hyde told CSN Bay Area that he recieved good news on his MRI but is still not expected to play on Saturday.
Insight: Not only did Hyde say he is not expected to play, he flat out stated he would need a miracle to suit up. The timing couldn't have been worse as Frank Gore is doubtful because of his concussion. Alfonso Smith or Phillip Tanner could be the starting running back on Saturday versus the Chargers.
DeMarco Murray, RB, DAL12/17/2014 12:47:00 PM
Description: Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray (hand) practiced on Wednesday.
Insight: He did all the individual drills and caught passes out of the backfield. Murray is shaping up to suit up, but there is a chance he will be limited. Stay tuned.
Lorenzo Taliaferro, RB, BAL12/16/2014 3:16:00 PM
Description: Ravens tailback Lorenzo Taliaferro, inactive for Week 15 against the Jaguars, has now been placed on the injured reserve list thereby ending his season.
Insight: Taliaferro made a little noise back in Week 3 when he rushed 18 times for 91 yards and a touchdown, but since Week 5 has given the Ravens and fantasy owners very little as Justin Forsett grabbed the workhorse role.
DeMarco Murray, RB, DAL12/16/2014 11:46:00 AM
Description: Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray underwent surgery on Monday to repair a broken band in his left hand, but the feeling in Dallas is he can play in Week 16, according to an Ed Werder report.
Insight: Joseph Randle and Lance Dunbar would likely form a committee if Murray is unable to play against the Colts, but obviously neither would produce at Murray's level.
Matt Forte, RB, CHI12/16/2014 9:47:00 AM
Description: Bears running back Matt Forte totaled 99 yards from scrimmage, but could get into the end zone.
Insight: Forte has been limited by the floundering Bears offense. He's still a valuable asset because of his receiving skill, but he's been a bit disappointing in this year's fantasy playoffs.
Pierre Thomas, RB, NOS12/16/2014 9:39:00 AM
Description: Saints running back Pierre Thomas didn't run the ball much, but he was the guy Brees used for his screen pass game.
Insight: Thomas rushed the ball just two times, but caught all five targets for 83 yards.
Mark Ingram, RB, NOS12/16/2014 9:32:00 AM
Description: Saints running back Mark Ingram only rushed for 59 yards on 17 carries, but a late touchdown run saved the day for fantasy owners.
Insight: The 100-yard games he was producing in the middle of the season are much rarer these days and his value is as an RB2 at best.
C.J. Spiller, RB, BUF12/15/2014 4:40:00 PM
Description: Bills running back C.J. Spiller (broken collarbone) has been activated from injured reserve/designated to return.
Insight: Head coach Doug Marrone said this week's practice will dictate how much Spiller plays. He will be no more than a low-end flex option against Oakland.
DeMarco Murray, RB, DAL12/15/2014 4:32:00 PM
Description: Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray underwent surgery on Monday to repair a broken band in his left hand.
Insight: Wow. This seemingly came out of nowhere, however Murray's status is still unknown for the Week 16. The injury is being reported as minor, and may he may only need to miss one game, if any. Yet, this is not what owners want to hear heading into the Championship round. Joseph Randle and Lance Dunbar would likely form a committee if Murray is unable to play against the Colts.
Branden Oliver, RB, SDC12/15/2014 11:20:00 AM
Description: Chargers rookie running back Branden Oliver saw a majority of the workload, but produced just 26 yards on 12 carries.
Insight: Ryan Mathews missed tha game with an ankle injury and allowed Oliver and Donald Brown to carry the load. Oliver did catch four balls for 44 yards, but all in all it wasn't a very good day.
C.J. Anderson, RB, DEN12/15/2014 11:09:00 AM
Description: Broncos running back C.J. Anderson showed no signed of the ankle injury that had him limping badly in the previous game.
Insight: Anderson rushed 29 times for 85 yards and caught two balls for 11 yards, but couldn't find the end zone. He's still a borderline RB1.
Chris Johnson, RB, NYJ12/15/2014 10:51:00 AM
Description: Jets running back Chris Johnson rushed for a team-high 55 yards.
Insight: Johnson has been getting the work in the past three games, but hasn't produced big numbers. Ivory rushed 12 times for 25 yards and a touchdown, Johnson rushed 10 times for 55 yards and neither guy holds great upside right now with this 50-50 split of the workload.
Chris Ivory, RB, NYJ12/15/2014 10:50:00 AM
Description: Jets running back Chris Ivory once again shared the workload evenly with Chris Johnson.
Insight: Ivory rushed 12 times for 25 yards and a touchdown, Johnson rushed 10 times for 55 yards. Neither guy holds great upside right now.
Reggie Bush, RB, DETCold12/15/2014 10:34:00 AM
Description: Lions running back Reggie Bush (ankle) was active for Week 15's contest against the Vikings, but unproductive.
Insight: Bush rushed three times for seven yards and caught one pass for 10 yards. Joique Bell is the workhorse right now though, leaving Bush with little to no fantasy value.
Joique Bell, RB, DET12/15/2014 10:32:00 AM
Description: Lions running back Joique Bell had another solid game on Sunday and has become the team's No. 1 back.
Insight: He rushed 15 times for 62 yards and also had four catches for 41. Bell is a solid RB2 and it doesn't matter whether Reggie Bush is active or inactive.
Matt Asiata, RB, MIN12/15/2014 10:19:00 AM
Description: Vikings running back Matt Asiata led the team with 11 carries for 36 yards in Week 15.
Insight: At least he found the end zone and caught seven balls for 50 yards to crack into double-digit fantasy points. Asiata is a low end value only because Jerick McKinnon is done for the season. We don't expect him to be a viable fantasy option in 2015.
Marshawn Lynch, RB, SEA12/15/2014 10:10:00 AM
Description: Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch rushed 21 times for 91 yards and a touchdown.
Insight: The 49ers defense played well, particularly in the first half, but Lynch still managed to help fantasy owners. It will be a tough game again in Week 16 against an Arizona Cardinals defense that is No. 6 against the run and has yielded just six rushing touchdowns this season.
Darren Sproles, RB, PHI12/15/2014 9:48:00 AM
Description: Eagles running back Darren Sproles scored a touchdown from a yard out in Sunday night's loss to Dallas.
Insight: Sproles only had five touches on offense and one punt return, so his fantasy value is limited.
Chris Polk, RB, PHI12/15/2014 9:46:00 AM
Description: Eagles backup running back Chris Polk appears to be the goal line back.
Insight: Polk scored twice inside the 5-yard line. He's not going to get any significant yards based on current usage, but he could be a consistent touchdown maker. At the moment he's just a pain in the side of LeSean McCoy owners.
LeSean McCoy, RB, PHICold12/15/2014 9:43:00 AM
Description: Eagles running back LeSean McCoy saw 17 touches and produced just 65 yards.
Insight: McCoy just isn't producing and with Darren Sproles catching more passes and Chris Polk the goal line back, McCoy's fantasy value has taken a significant hit.
DeMarco Murray, RB, DAL12/15/2014 9:28:00 AM
Description: Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray had a rough night averaging just 2.6 ypc on 31 tries, but scored twice.
Insight: Murray only broke through the line a few times, but his scores saved the night for fantasy owners.
Carlos Hyde, RB, SFX12/15/2014 9:16:00 AM
Description: San Francisco rookie running back Carlos Hyde joined Frank Gore on the sidelines Sunday after injuring his back.
Insight: It will be a race to see which 49ers running back can return for Week 16. If neither returns the backfield work would likely go to Alfonso Smith.
Alfred Morris, RB, WAS12/14/2014 7:44:00 PM
Description: Washington running back Alfred Morris had 14 carries for 49 yards in Week 15.
Insight: With 14 of those yards coming on one play, Morris was pretty much bottled up all day. Morris is no longer a fantasy stud and should be sat if owners have better options.
Andre Williams, RB, NYG12/14/2014 7:43:00 PM
Description: Giants running back Andre Williams led the team in rushing during Week 15.
Insight: That's not saying much as Williams gained just 2.4 yards per carry, gaining 44 yards on 18 carries. Williams is a RB3 at best.
Jonas Gray, RB, NEP12/14/2014 7:33:00 PM
Description: Patriots running back Jonas Gray is apparently out of the doghouse.
Insight: Gray led the team with 11 carries versus the Dolphins and gained a team-high 62 yards. LeGarrette Blount and Shane Vereen, however, scored the rushing touchdowns, so the Patriots backfield remains a mystery.
Lamar Miller, RB, MIA12/14/2014 7:27:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Lamar Miller continues to disappoint down the stretch.
Insight: Miller averaged just 2.9 yards per carry on his way to 47 rushing yards versus the Patriots. Miller has not gained more than 60 yards rushing since Nov. 13. Miller is a shaky RB2.
LeGarrette Blount, RB, NEP12/14/2014 7:26:00 PM
Description: Running back LeGarrette Blount gave way to Jonas Gray a bit in Week 15, but Blount did score a touchdown.
Insight: Blount had just eight carries and 17 yards while only supplying seven more yards receiving, but he avoided the fantasy dud finding the end zone on the goal line. Blount, along with every other Patriots running back, has risk invovled every week because owners just don't know who will get the ball.
Knile Davis, RB, KAN12/14/2014 7:15:00 PM
Description: Chiefs running back Knile Davis remains fantasy relevant.
Insight: Davis has remained relevant in fantasy because of his big play ability. Davis can make noise on special teams and on Sunday, he made a big splash in the passing game. Davis caught one pass for a 70-yard touchdown.
Latavius Murray, RB, OAK12/14/2014 7:11:00 PM
Description: Raiders running back Latavius Murray continues to be a decent fantasy play.
Insight: That's saying a lot considering he plays for the Raiders. Murray had 12 carries for 59 yards and 17 more yards receiving. Murray is a FLEX option just based on the fact he should get lots of carries, though, when Oakland falls behind, there's always a chance Derek Carr gets more than 50 pass attempts.
Jamaal Charles, RB, KAN12/14/2014 7:09:00 PM
Description: Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles had a disappointing day for his standards, rushing for 12 carries for 52 yards versus the Raiders.
Insight: Not a good time for him to lay an egg. The Raiders were able to slow him down, and then with a big lead, Andy Reid didn't use him much late in the game. Charles will be a RB1 again next week against the Steelers.
Trent Richardson, RB, IND12/14/2014 7:04:00 PM
Description: Colts running back Trent Richardson should probably not be in fantasy starting lineups anymore.
Insight: Richardson has been given every opportunity to prove he can be "the guy" in Indianapolis, but now he is losing playing time to Daniel Herron. Richardson had 32 yards on nine carries while Herron gained 60 yards on 11 attempts. Sit Richardson if you haven't already.
Alfred Blue, RB, HOU12/14/2014 6:59:00 PM
Description: Texans running back Alfred Blue had eight carries for 26 yards versus the Colts.
Insight: After Ryan Fitzpatrick left the game, Houston ran the ball a lot. With backup quarterback Tom Savage also hurt, there is a big question mark at quarterback, which means even with Arian Foster healthy, Blue could get more work.
Arian Foster, RB, HOU12/14/2014 6:51:00 PM
Description: Texans running back Arian Foster just missed the 100-yard rushing bonus versus the Colts.
Insight: Foster had 99 rushing yards on 26 carries. He had plenty of opportunities with starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick leaving the game with a leg injury. Foster is still a RB1 no matter who plays quarterback for Houston.
Dan Herron, RB, IND12/14/2014 6:49:00 PM
Description: Colts running back Dan Herron had another decent day at the office.
Insight: Herron rushed for 60 yards on 11 carries as he again outproduced the former first-round pick Trent Richardson. Herron added two catches and 12 yards in the passing game. He is a decent FLEX play moving forward.
Toby Gerhart, RB, JAC12/14/2014 6:33:00 PM
Description: Jaguars running back Toby Gerhart was sort of the workhorse back for Jacksonville versus the Ravens on Sunday.
Insight: We sort of give him the workhorse label because he did lead the team in carries, doubling every other Jaguar running back, but he still had just 13 carries and 54 yards. If owners have to go with someone in the Jacksonville backfield, Gerhart is the guy.
Justin Forsett, RB, BAL12/14/2014 6:31:00 PM
Description: Ravens running back Justin Forsett unexpectedly struggled against the Jaguars in Week 15.
Insight: Forsett rushed for 48 yards on 16 carries and didn't score. It was his lowest rushing total in over a month.
Doug Martin, RB, TAM12/14/2014 6:12:00 PM
Description: Buccaneers running back Doug Martin had one of his best games of the season on Sunday.
Insight: Martin rushed for 96 yards on 14 carries. That's the most yards Martin has rushed for since Week 2 of 2013.
Jonathan Stewart, RB, CAR12/14/2014 6:09:00 PM
Description: Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart was clearly the workhorse back for Carolina with 22 carries in Week 15.
Insight: Stewart wasn't very efficient, averaging 3.3 yards per carry, but the amount of carries helped Stewart get to 73 rushing yards. Stewart is a RB1 as long as DeAngelo Williams is out.
Frank Gore, RB, SFX12/14/2014 6:06:00 PM
Description: 49ers running back Frank Gore is being evaluated for a concussion. Update: Gore has been downgraded to out.
Insight: Gore produced 29 yards and a touchdown on 11 first-half carries, but appeared to injure himself while trying to make a block. Carlos Hyde should get all the carries in the second half.
Anthony Dixon, RB, BUF12/14/2014 5:53:00 PM
Description: Bills running back Anthony Dixon had six carries for 26 yards on Sunday.
Insight: Dixon also had a catch for five yards. Fred Jackson is clearly the top running back option for the Bills and fantasy owners.
Eddie Lacy, RB, GBPHot12/14/2014 5:52:00 PM
Description: Packers running back Eddie Lacy was awesome again and should have received more opportunities against the Bills.
Insight: Lacy had 15 carries and gained 97 yards with a touchdown. He, however, had five of those carries on one drive which ended with his score, the only touchdown for the Packers on the day. The only reason we can think of as to why Lacy did not get more work is that he was hurt, which is a possibility since he came into the week with a hip injury.
Fred Jackson, RB, BUF12/14/2014 5:50:00 PM
Description: Bills running back Fred Jackson had 23 touches and 98 yards in Week 15.
Insight: Jackson gained 71 of those yards on the ground and had three catches for 27 yards as well. It's too bad he couldn't find the end zone, but not bad numbers from Jackson.
Frank Gore, RB, SFX12/14/2014 5:45:00 PM
Description: 49ers running back Frank Gore is being evaluated for a concussion.
Insight: Gore produced 29 yards and a touchdown on 11 first-half carries, but appeared to injure himself while trying to make a block.
Giovani Bernard, RB, CIN12/14/2014 5:36:00 PM
Description: Bengals running back Giovani Bernard was fantasy relevant in garbage time in Week 15.
Insight: Bernard had 79 yards on 15 carries and gained 24 more yards on three catches, but nearly all of that came in the second half with Cincinnati ahead by more than 20. Owners shouldn't count on Bernard repeating that performance versus the tough Broncos next week.
Isaiah Crowell, RB, CLE12/14/2014 5:35:00 PM
Description: Browns running back Isaiah Crowell may have hit the rookie wall.
Insight: Crowell hasn't rushed for over 60 yards since Week 12 and has just two games with over a 4.0 yards per carry average since Week 5. Against the Bengals in Week 15, Crowell gained 17 yards on seven carries.
Jeremy Hill, RB, CIN12/14/2014 5:33:00 PM
Description: Bengals running back Jeremy Hill has seized his opportunity to be the Bengals starter.
Insight: Hill led Cincinnati with 25 carries and 148 yards with two touchdowns on Sunday. The Bengals ripped apart the Browns run defense for 244 yards on the ground. Hill is a low-end RB1 moving forward.
Terrance West, RB, CLE12/14/2014 5:31:00 PM
Description: Browns running back Terrance West led the team in rushing but that isn't saying much.
Insight: On just five carries, West gained 23 yards. The entire Cleveland offense was awful and with Manziel likely the starter next week, no one on Cleveland is a great fantasy play.
Steven Jackson, RB, ATL12/14/2014 5:07:00 PM
Description: Falcons running back Steven Jackson had an alright fantasy day with 11 carries and 46 yards.
Insight: Atlanta turned to Matt Ryan and the passing game as they trailed the Steelers, 20-7, at halftime. Jackson had a decent average, but without a touchdown, he didn't help many owners advance to the championship.
Le'Veon Bell, RB, PITHot12/14/2014 5:06:00 PM
Description: Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell used all his skills to put up another great fantasy day.
Insight: Bell only averaged 2.4 yards per carry but still managed 119 total yards as he gained 72 yards on five catches. Bell also had two rushing touchdowns. He also broke the Steelers single-season record for total yards on offense.
Reggie Bush, RB, DET12/14/2014 3:30:00 PM
Description: Lions running back Reggie Bush (ankle) is active for Week 15's contest against the Vikings.
Insight: Joique Bell is the workhorse right now though, leaving Bush as no more than a flex option.
Ryan Mathews, RB, SDC12/14/2014 3:18:00 PM
Description: Chargers running back Ryan Mathews (ankle) is inactive for Week 15.
Insight: Branden Oliver and Donald Brown will see a bump in value, with Oliver being the slightly more preferred player.
C.J. Anderson, RB, DENHot12/14/2014 3:14:00 PM
Description: Broncos running back C.J. Anderson (ankle) is active for Week 15.
Insight: Anderson was noticably limping after last weekend. He's averaging 27 rushing attempts over the past three games and has turned Peyton Manning into a game manager for the trio of games.
Chris Johnson, RB, NYJ12/14/2014 3:10:00 PM
Description: Jets running back Chris Johnson is active for Week 15 despite a knee issue.
Insight: Johnson has been getting the work in the past two games and has 158 yards to show for it. Not great, but he's getting his chances.
Rashad Jennings, RB, NYG12/14/2014 2:58:00 PM
Description: Giants running back Rashad Jennings re-injured his ankle and is questionable to return.
Insight: Andre Williams will get the work and Jennings even if he could return won't as long as Williams is running well.
Lorenzo Taliaferro, RB, BAL12/14/2014 12:14:00 PM
Description: Ravens tailback Lorenzo Taliaferro is inactive for Week 15 against the Jaguars.
Insight: This makes things a little easier for Bernard Pierce owners. If you can't start Justin Forsett, Pierce is the next best option in the Ravens backfield.
Eddie Lacy, RB, GBPHot12/14/2014 12:05:00 PM
Description: Packers running back Eddie Lacy is dealing with a bruised hip but is active for Week 15 against Buffalo.
Insight: Lacy left Monday night's game early. James Starks ran well in Lacy's absence and could eat into his rushing total. This could be a shared situation.
Jonathan Stewart, RB, CARHot12/14/2014 12:04:00 PM
Description: Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart had a monster game in Week 14's win over the Saints (20-155-1) and could repeat the effort in Week 15.
Insight: DeAngelo Williams is again inactive and Stewart should be an RB1 with a full amount of rushing attempts.
DeAngelo Williams, RB, CAR12/14/2014 12:02:00 PM
Description: Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams (broken bone in right hand) is inactive for Week 15.
Insight: Jonathan Stewart owners should be happy as the value of Stewart should jump with a full workload.
Toby Gerhart, RB, JAC12/14/2014 11:43:00 AM
Description: Jaguars running back Toby Gerhart should see the bulk of the carries with Denard Robinson out for the season.
Insight: If owners really need running back help, Gerhart should touch the ball the most of all the Jaguars runners in Week 15. That isn't saying much, though, and Gerhart should only be used in emergencies against the tough Ravens.
Montee Ball, RB, DEN12/13/2014 2:18:00 PM
Description: Broncos running back Montee Ball (groin) has been placed on injured reserve.
Insight: After entering the season as Denver's top tailback, Ball will have to fight for a roster spot in 2015.
Adrian Peterson, RB, MIN12/12/2014 5:24:00 PM
Description: Vikings running back Adrian Peterson's appeal of league suspension has been denied.
Insight: There was little hope of him returning this season, but now it is official. Peterson should be back on the field to start next season.
Jamaal Charles, RB, KAN12/12/2014 5:04:00 PM
Description: Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles (ankle) is expected to handle his full workload on Sunday.
Insight: This comes from head coach Andy Reid, so it is a good sign for fantasy owners. Charles is our top running back heading into Week 15 against Oakland.
Rashad Jennings, RB, NYG12/12/2014 4:59:00 PM
Description: Giants coach Tom Coughlin hinted that the team could use the "hot-hand" approach at running back.
Insight: Espn's Dan Graziano also stated that Rashad Jennings could be in line for another reduced workload in Week 15. With all this being said, we like Andre Williams a little more this week against Washington. However, owners beware that the Redskins have actually been solid versus the run.
Ronnie Hillman, RB, DEN12/12/2014 4:42:00 PM
Description: Broncos running back Ronnie Hillman (foot) is listed as questionable for Week 15.
Insight: He has not played since Week 10, and with C.J. Anderson cemented as the lead back, Hillman should only see a few touches if active.
Reggie Bush, RB, DET12/12/2014 4:38:00 PM
Description: Lions running back Reggie Bush (ankle) is listed as questionable for Week 15's contest against the Vikings.
Insight: He has been limited the past two days in practice, but is expected to play. Joique bell is the workhorse right now though, leaving Bush as no more than a flex option.
Tre Mason, RB, STLCold12/12/2014 10:10:00 AM
Description: Rams running back Tre Mason rushed for 33 yards on 213carries during Sunday's loss to Arizona.
Insight: For a second straight weekend, Mason was unable to follow up his breakout performance in Week 13. He still remains an RB2 option.
Kerwynn Williams, RB, ARI12/12/2014 9:59:00 AM
Description: Cardinals running back Kerwynn Williams rushed for 75 yards on 15 carries and caught two balls for 11 yards.
Insight: Williams rushed 19 times for 100 yards in Week 14, surprising the Chiefs and fantasy owners alike. He ran well Thursday night, given the lack of a passing threat. Unfortunately, that's likely to continue to be a problem the remainder of the season unless Brett Favre comes out of retirement.
Jamaal Charles, RB, KAN12/11/2014 5:16:00 PM
Description: Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles (ankle, knee) returned to practice on Thursday.
Insight: It was in limited fashion, but after missing Wednesday's session, Charles is in line to suit up on Sunday. He will be an RB1 if active.
Shane Vereen, RB, NEP12/11/2014 4:33:00 PM
Description: New England running back Shane Vereen (ankle) was limited during Thursday's practice.
Insight: There is little doubt Vereen will suit up, but his impact is another story. He is no more than a flex play.
Branden Oliver, RB, SDC12/11/2014 4:26:00 PM
Description: Chargers rookie running back Branden Oliver could see extended playing time on Sunday.
Insight: Ryan Mathews has missed two consecutive practices with an ankle injury, and with his status in doubt, both Oliver and Donald Brown could be thrust into action. Oliver rused for over 100 yards in both Week 3 and Week 4, and was heavily involved in the passing game during Mathews' absence earlier this season. However, with all that being said, we would recommend Oliver as no more than a flex play if Mathews sits.
Ryan Mathews, RB, SDC12/11/2014 4:24:00 PM
Description: Chargers running back Ryan Mathews (ankle) did not practice on Thursday.
Insight: This is the second straight practice Mathews has missed, leaving his availibilty in extreme question for Week 15. Branden Oliver and Donald Brown would see a bump in value, with Oliver being the slightly more preferred player.
Eddie Lacy, RB, GBPHot12/11/2014 4:21:00 PM
Description: Packers running back Eddie Lacy is dealing with a bruised hip and could miss Week 15 against Buffalo.
Insight: Lacy left Monday night's game early as James Starks took over the running duties. Stay tuned.
Jonathan Stewart, RB, CARHot12/11/2014 1:34:00 PM
Description: Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart had a monster game in Week 14's win over the Saints (20-155-1), but the likely return of DeAngelo Williams is a cause for concern.
Insight: Stewart will hold RB2 status even if DeAngelo Williams returns, but could be an RB1 if he was a workhorse like last weekend.
DeAngelo Williams, RB, CAR12/11/2014 1:30:00 PM
Description: Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams (broken bone in right hand) was back at practice Thursday, according to the Charlotte Observer's Jonathan Jones.
Insight: Coach Ron Rivera has not named a starter, which together with this news isn't good for Jonathan Stewart owners who must downgrade the value of Stewart if Williams plays.
Ryan Mathews, RB, SDC12/10/2014 10:20:00 PM
Description: Chargers running back Ryan Mathews (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday.
Insight: He injured his right ankle during the first half of Week 14. He had only two carries during the second half, and his status is now in question for Sunday. Branden Oliver will see an increase in snaps if Mathews sits.
Jeremy Hill, RB, CIN12/10/2014 4:03:00 PM
Description: Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson expressed the feeling he would like to move more towards having one featured back rather than split them between Jeremy Hill and Giovani Bernard.
Insight: That likely means good things for Hill and bad news for Bernard. Bernard owners could see the writing on the wall the past couple weeks though. He has averaged a meager 3.18 yards per attempt since returning from his hip injury while Hill ran for over 150 yards in a game twice while Bernard was hurt. Bernard should not be in many lineups this weekend for the fantasy playoffs.
Jamaal Charles, RB, KAN12/10/2014 1:36:00 PM
Description: Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles missed practice on Wednesday, but fantasy owners shouldn't be concerned.
Insight: Coach Andy Reid said this week that Charles is dealing with knee and ankle soreness. He didn't, however, show much concern. Charles should be ready to go this week for fantasy owners in the playoffs.
Eddie Lacy, RB, GBPHot12/9/2014 7:12:00 PM
Description: Packers coach Mike McCarthy is not overly concerned with running back Eddie Lacy's bruised hip according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Insight: Lacy left Monday night's game early as James Starks took over the running duties. McCarthy likely removed Lacy as a precaution, but it is a little concerning for fantasy owners because of the short week. Stay tuned, but we expect Lacy to play versus the Bills in Week 15 and be a solid RB1.
Eddie Lacy, RB, GBPHot12/9/2014 11:08:00 AM
Description: Packers running back Eddie Lacy injured his hip and couldn't finish the Monday night game.
Insight: Now we understand why James Starks saw so much work. He said he thinks he'll be able to play Sunday, but it's worth watching as he's on a short recovery week. He's been an RB1 for most of the second half of 2014.
James Starks, RB, GBP12/9/2014 9:19:00 AM
Description: Packers running back James Starks ran for 75 yards and a touchdown on just 10 carries and combined for 101 yards from scrimmage.
Insight: Starks saw almost as much work as starter Eddie Lacy and posted excellent fantasy numbers for a backup. It was his best game of the season, but there is no guarantee that this level of work and production will continue.
Eddie Lacy, RB, GBPHot12/9/2014 9:17:00 AM
Description: Packers running back Eddie Lacy had to share the running back distribution with James Starts, but still posted very good fantasy numbers because of his receiving skill.
Insight: He combined for 106 yards (73 rushing), with one rushing and one receiving touchdown. He's still a RB1.
Steven Jackson, RB, ATLHot12/9/2014 9:06:00 AM
Description: Falcons running back Steven Jackson wasn't as good as last weekend, but still managed double-digit fantasy points.
Insight: Jackson rushed 16 times for 50 yards and a score and added a couple of receptions for 26 yards. He's been much improved in the second half of the season and is a viable RB2 down the stretch.
Kerwynn Williams, RB, ARIHot12/8/2014 11:34:00 AM
Description: Just up from the practice squad, Cardinals running back Kerwynn Williams surprised the Chiefs and fantasy owners by dominating the Cardinals running game.
Insight: Who? This came out of nowhere. Williams rushed 19 times for 100 yards. He's not versatile like Andre Ellington, but he was certainly a better option than Stepfan Taylor or Marion Grice. he should be very popular on the waiver wire.
Jamaal Charles, RB, KAN12/8/2014 11:25:00 AM
Description: Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles injured his foot on a run in the first quarter, but returned and posted solid fantasy numbers.
Insight: Charles rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown and caught two balls for 20 yards and a second score in just a dozen touches. Hopefully the foot won't get worse over the next week of practice because he has a nice matchup with Oakland in Week 15.
C.J. Anderson, RB, DENHot12/8/2014 11:13:00 AM
Description: Broncos running back C.J. Anderson didn't post the big yardage total this weekend, but scored three times.
Insight: Anderson was noticably limping, but still gave fantasy owners a nice point total. He's averaging 27 rushing attempts over the past three games and has turned Peyton Manning into a game manager.
Fred Jackson, RB, BUF12/8/2014 11:03:00 AM
Description: Bills running back Fred Jackson was a busy guy Sunday, rushing eight times for 35 yards and catching 10 of 14 targets for 37 yards.
Insight: Jackson appears to have reasserted himself as the feature back in Buffalo, but his 18 touches didn't produce very good results. He'll continue to be the workhorse because the other options aren't very good.
Maurice Jones-Drew, RB, OAKCold12/8/2014 10:55:00 AM
Description: Raiders running back Maurice Jones-Drew didn't touch the ball Sunday and was on the field for just one play.
Insight: The only fantasy relevant player in the Raiders backfield is Latavius Murray. Darren McFadden cannot be counted on for any production and neither can MJD. It's about time.
Darren McFadden, RB, OAKCold12/8/2014 10:53:00 AM
Description: Raiders running back Darren McFadden rushed just four times for five yards.
Insight: The only fantasy relevant player for the Raiders is Latavius Murray. McFadden cannot be counted on for any production. It's about time.
Latavius Murray, RB, OAK12/8/2014 10:50:00 AM
Description: Raiders running back Latavius Murray (concussion) was active for Week 14 against the 49ers and saw the bulk of the carries.
Insight: The future is now. Murray rushed 23 times for 76 yards. The Raiders have finally given up on their two over-the-hill veterans - Darren McFadden or Maurice Jones-Drew.
Frank Gore, RB, SFXCold12/8/2014 10:42:00 AM
Description: 49ers running back Frank Gore had another dull day, rushing for 63 yards on 12 carries.
Insight: Gore's average was nice at 5.3 ypc, but he didn't see enough work or get into the end zone. Gore hasn't cracked the 100-yard mark since Week 5 and his fantasy value has taken a significant hit in the second half of the season.
LeSean McCoy, RB, PHICold12/8/2014 10:22:00 AM
Description: Eagles running back LeSean McCoy saw 17 touches and produced just 50 yards. He also lost a fumble.
Insight: McCoy's longest run was just 10 yards and he wasn't involved in the passing game. Isn't running with screen passes one of the best ways to get McCoy some open space?
Marshawn Lynch, RB, SEA12/8/2014 10:10:00 AM
Description: Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch set the tone of the game with his hard running and totaled 113 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown.
Insight: Lynch rushed 23 times for 86 yards which isn't exciting, but it forced the Eagles defense to come up close to the line of scrimmage and opened up passing lanes.
Ryan Mathews, RB, SDC12/8/2014 9:38:00 AM
Description: Chargers running back Ryan Mathews could get nothing going on the ground against the Patriots defense.
Insight: Mathews rushed for 44 yards on 11 carries, but the injury-prone back hurt his leg and didn't play much in the second half.
Jonas Gray, RB, NEPCold12/8/2014 9:20:00 AM
Description: Apparently Patriots running back Jonas Gray was a one-week wonder.
Insight: Since his 201 yards rushing day in Week 11, he's touched the ball just three times over three games.
LeGarrette Blount, RB, NEP12/8/2014 9:18:00 AM
Description: Running back LeGarrette Blount led the team in rushing again in Week 14, but wasn't very effective.
Insight: Blount rushed 20 times for 66 yards, but didn't get into the end zone, producing single-digit fantasy points. Still, he's a better option than Shane Vereen or Jonas Gray.
Shane Vereen, RB, NEPCold12/7/2014 7:32:00 PM
Description: New England running back Shane Vereen (ankle) is active for Sunday's game against San Diego.
Insight: Vereen rushed three times for six yards and caught one of two targets for 26 yards, but hasn't a major factor since LeGarrette Blount's return.
Arian Foster, RB, HOU12/7/2014 7:11:00 PM
Description: Texans running back Arian Foster rushed for 127 yards in Week 14's win over the Jaguars.

Insight: He did so on five carries. Martin is really an RB4 right now.

Description: Browns running back Isaiah Crowell scored a touchdown in Week 14.
Insight: He had 14 carries for 54 yards and Terrance West had 15 carries for 54 yards as well. It seems that West will continue to handcuff Crowell.

Description: Colts running back Dan Herron ahad 71 total yards on Sunday.
Insight: Herron rushed for 26 yards on eight carries and caught four passes for 45 more yards. He is a borderline RB2. Trent Richardson had seven carries for 30 yards.

Description: Saints running back Mark Ingram rushed for 43 yards on Sunday.
Insight: He did so on 10 carries and also chipped in two catches for 13 yards. Ingram remains the lead back.

Description: Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart had a monster game in Week 14's win over the Saints.

Jeremy Hill, RB, CIN12/7/2014 5:31:00 PM
Description: Bengals running back Jeremy Hill rushed for 46 yards on eight carries during Sunday's loss to Pittsburgh.
Insight: He also had three catches for 21 yards, and with Hill splitting the workload in the backfield, he is just a borderline RB2.

Description: Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell had another monster game.
Insight: He rushed 26 times for 185 yards and two touchdowns, along with totaling six catches for 50 yards and another score. Remember in the preseason when everybody thought Bell would be splitting carries?
Jamaal Charles, RB, KAN12/7/2014 5:18:00 PM
Description: Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles injured his foot on a run in the first quarter, but looks like he should return. Update: He has returned.
Insight: Charles is off to a great start with three carries for 74 yards and a touchdown, so obviously fantasy owners wanted him back in the lineup as soon as possible. He scored a second time on an 18-yard screen pass.
Jamaal Charles, RB, KAN12/7/2014 4:42:00 PM
Description: Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles injured his foot on a run in the first quarter, but looks like he should return.
Insight: Charles is off to a great start with three carries for 74 yards and a touchdown, so obviously fantasy owners want him back in the lineup as soon as possible.
Marshawn Lynch, RB, SEA12/7/2014 3:33:00 PM
Description: Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch (back) is active for the big game against Philadelphia as expected.

Latavius Murray, RB, OAK12/7/2014 3:28:00 PM
Description: Raiders running back Latavius Murray (concussion) is active for Week 14 against the 49ers.
Insight: Murray has the most talent of any Oakland option, but he'll be hard-pressed to break out against San Francisco's defense. Still, it's better than running Darren McFadden or Maurice Jones-drew.
Giovani Bernard, RB, CIN12/7/2014 12:23:00 PM
Description: Bengals running back Giovani Bernard is expected to split the workload 50-50 with Jeremy Hill, according Paul Dehner of the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Description: Browns running back Isaiah Crowell (hip) is officially active for Week 14.
Insight: Get him into all lineups. Crowell will be an RB2 Sunday against the Colts.
Bishop Sankey, RB, TEN12/7/2014 11:46:00 AM
Description: Titans running back Bishop Sankey should get the full workload Sunday against the Giants with Shonn Greene inactive.
Insight: We are still waiting for Sankey to show us enough to make him fantasy worthy. it might happen in Week 14.
Doug Martin, RB, TAM12/7/2014 11:44:00 AM
Description: Buccaneers running back Doug Martin should see a slight increase in snaps on Sunday.
Insight: Bobby Rainey is out, so Martin and Charlie Sims will split the workload. However, with a tough matchup against the solid run-defense of the Lions, we do not recommend Martin as anything more than a flex.
Bobby Rainey, RB, TAM12/7/2014 11:42:00 AM
Description: Buccaneers running back Bobby Rainey (ankle) is officially inactive Sunday against the Lions.
Insight: Doug Martin and Charlie Sims will split the reps, but neither are a great option against a tough Detroit run-defense.
Reggie Bush, RB, DET12/7/2014 11:39:00 AM
Description: Lions running back Reggie Bush (ankle) is officially active for Sunday's game versus Tampa Bay.

Description: Giants running back Rashad Jennings (ankle) is expected to be active, but may not get a full workload, according to multiple reports.

Justin Forsett, RB, BAL12/7/2014 11:23:00 AM
Description: Ravens running back Justin Forsett (knee) will play Sunday against the Dolphins.

Jerick McKinnon, RB, MIN12/6/2014 5:16:00 PM
Description: Vikings running back Jerick McKinnon (back) has been placed on injured reserve.
Insight: His season is officially over, but owners who are in dynasty leagues may want to hang onto McKinnon, as Adrian Peterson's status continues to be up in the air.
Adrian Peterson, RB, MIN12/6/2014 2:11:00 PM
Description: The NFL and the NFLPA could still reach a settlement regarding Adrian Peterson's season-ending suspension according to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio.
Insight: The independent arbitrator is encouraging the two sides to work out a deal, but neither side has bugde yet. Any settlement would have to come before the arbitrator issues his ruling and since it is reported by Peter King that Peterson is likely to win the appeal, it seems more likely a settlement is coming. Either way, it is still a long shot Peterson plays, and even if he does, it might be difficult to play him with a championship fantasy on the line.
DeAngelo Williams, RB, CAR12/5/2014 3:02:00 PM
Description: Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams has a broken bone in his right hand.
Insight: Coach Ron Rivera said x-rays after the game revealed the break. Williams wasn't doing much for fantasy owners, but his absence should help make Jonathan Stewart an option.
Andre Ellington, RB, ARI12/5/2014 2:59:00 PM
Description: Cardinals running back Andre Ellington made it a clean sweep of missed practices and has been ruled out for Week 14.
Insight: Marion Grice, Stepfan Taylor and Michael Bush will share the load, but we think Taylor gets the first shot.
Rashad Jennings, RB, NYG12/5/2014 2:55:00 PM
Description: Giants running back Rashad Jennings (ankle) has been limited in practice all week and is likely a true game-time decision.
Insight: it was originally thought not to be serious, but his lack of practice should have fantasy owners planning to be without him. The Giants aren't playing for anything so won't push him. If Jennings is unable to go, Andre Williams would hold medium value on Sunday.
Matt Asiata, RB, MIN12/5/2014 2:42:00 PM
Description: Vikings running back Matt Asiata should see the bulk of the work against the Jets on Sunday.
Insight: Jerick McKinnon will sit out a second consecutive game. Last weekend, Asiata rushed 14 times and was targeted four times which is a solid touches total.
Jerick McKinnon, RB, MIN12/5/2014 2:38:00 PM
Description: Vikings running back Jerick McKinnon has been ruled out for Week 14 against the Jets
Insight: When he didn't play in Week 13, Matt Asiata got the lion's share of the workload with Ben Tate as his backup. Expect a similar share of the rushing attempts against New York.
Matt Forte, RB, CHI12/5/2014 9:41:00 AM
Description: For a second consecutive weekend, Bears running back Matt Forte couldn't get anything going on the ground.
Insight: He was given just 13 carries and totaled an ugly 26 yards. At least he got into the end zone in garbage time. He also caught eight balls for 74 yards which is why he's an elite fantasy running back who can post points whether his team is ahead or behind.
DeMarco Murray, RB, DALHot12/5/2014 9:26:00 AM
Description: Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray ran wild against the Bears on Thursday, totaling 179 yards and a touchdown on 32 carries.
Insight: Despite the huge numbers, fantasy owners were likely unhappy that Joseph Randle ran one in after Murray had carried the team on a third-quarter drive.
