    San Jose Sharks

    Position
    G

    Jersey
    32
    Name  Alex Stalock
    Born  7/28/1987
    Height  6-0
    Weight  190
    Shoots  L
    3/28/2015 7:18:00 PM
Description: Sharks goalie Alex Stalock made just 16 saves on 18 shots, but he did get the victory over the Flyers in a shootout.
Insight: Conversely, Flyers goaltender Steve Mason faced 44 shots and stopped 42 of them. The Sharks won the shootout on Brent Burns' goal in the fifth round. Stalock is 7-7-1 this season as Antti Niemi's backup.

    12/9/2014 10:51:00 PM
Description: Sharks goalie Alex Stalock will start on Tuesday for the second straight game.
Insight: Regular starting goaltender Antti Niemi was supposed to start the home-and-home series with the Oilers, but Stalock draws the start Tuesday instead. Since no one really knows why, Niemi owners might feel a bit uneasy.

    11/12/2014 2:51:00 PM
Description: San Jose has placed goalie Alex Stalock on injured reserve according to CSN Bay Area.
Insight: There are no reports yet as to what Stalock's injury is. He is 2-2-1 this season with a .925 save percentage and 2.38 GAA.

    11/9/2014 10:57:00 AM
Description: Sharks goalie Alex Stalock stopped 37-of-40 shots in Saturday's win over the Stars.
Insight: He is now 2-2-1, but should not be considered an option, as he is still playing behind Antti Niemi.

    10/25/2014 6:34:00 PM
Description: Sharks goalie Alex Stalock did not see4 much action in Saturday's loss.
Insight: He stopped 13-of-shots on goal, as San Jose fell to the Sabres 2-1. Unless Stalock is able to separate himself from Antti Niemi, he will remain the backup goaltender for the Sharks.

    10/16/2014 10:08:00 PM
Description: Sharks goalie Alex Stalock played well in Thursday's shootout loss.
Insight: He stopped 42-of-45 shots, and has played well in both of his starts this season. Antti Niemi is the Sharks number one goalie, but has a short leash, and Stalock will continue to be waiting in the wings.

    10/12/2014 10:19:00 AM
Description: Sharks goalie Alex Stalock pitched a shutout in first start of the season.
Insight: After Antti Niemi shut out the Kings on opening night, Stalock matched his counterpart. He stopped all 30 shots he faced, and now owners will need to keep an eye on Stalock, to see if he becomes a relevant fantasy player.

    4/28/2014 6:25:00 PM
Description: The Sharks will go with Alex Stalock in net for Game 6 of the Western Conference quarterfinals on Monday against the Kings.
Insight: Antti Niemi allowed eight goals on 45 shots the last two games and San Jose watched a 3-0 series lead turn into 3-2. Stalock came on in relief in both losses and made 26 saves on 26 shots.

    2/27/2014 4:58:00 PM
Description: Sharks backup goaltender Alex Stalock will start Thursday against the Flyers, according to csnbayarea.com.
Insight: That will give Antti Niemi another day to get over the jet lag from the Sochi Olympics. Niemi didn't see any action as the third-string goalie behind Tuukka Rask and Kari Lehtonen on Finland's bronze-medal winning team. Stalock has been fantastic as a backup, going 8-4-0 with a 1.67 GAA, a .938 SV% and two shutouts in just 16 starts.

    1/28/2014 10:11:00 AM
Description: Sharks backup goaltender Alex Stalock was solid between the pipes again, but didn't get any offensive support and the Sharks lost 1-0.
Insight: Stalock hasn't been asked to play much behind Antti Niemi, but the 26-year-old is 7-3-0 with a 1.56 GAA and a .943 SV%. When called upton, he's doing the job.

    1/16/2014 10:06:00 PM
Description: Sharks backup goaltender Alex Stalock came through with a 24-save shutout of the Panthers Thursday night.
Insight: Stalock hasn't been asked to play much behind Antti Niemi -- Thursday was just his seventh start of the season -- but he has answered the call when he's received the chance to play. The 26-year-old improved to 6-2 with a 1.80 GAA and a .938 SV% with the shutout.

    12/6/2013 6:57:00 PM
Description: Sharks backup goaltender Alex Stalock is starting Friday at Carolina.
Insight: Stalock has played just five games (three starts) as a backup to workhorse Antti Niemi this season and is 3-0-0 with a 1.55 GAA and a .944 SV%.

    11/12/2013 6:38:00 PM
Description: Sharks backup goaltender Alex Stalock will start Tuesday at Calgary.
Insight: Stalock has played just two games this season behind workhorse starter Antti Niemi.

    2/2/2011 1:00:00 PM
Description: Stalock halted all nine shots he faced in relief Tuesday night to claim the victory in his NHL debut.
Insight: Teammate Patrick Marleau said afterward: "He was great. He allowed us to get back in the game." Stalock was called up last week to back up Antti Niemi after Antero Niittymaki's injury and probably shouldn't be expected to stick around too long before returning to the minors to continue his development.
