NHL Game Summary - Phoenix at Anaheim

    (Wednesday, March 6th)

Final Score: Anaheim 2, Phoenix 0

Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Jonas Hiller made 18 saves for his first shutout of the season and the Anaheim Ducks beat the Phoenix Coyotes, 2-0, in the third meeting in five days between the two clubs.

Ryan Getzlaf had a goal and an assist for the Ducks, who have won nine straight as the host since a 5-0 loss to Vancouver on Jan. 25 in their home opener. It's the Ducks' longest home winning streak since taking 10 in a row from Feb. 17-March 26, 2008.

Corey Perry lit the lamp in the first period for Anaheim, which bounced back from consecutive 5-4 shootout losses to these Coyotes on Saturday and Monday.

"We came out and played the game we wanted to," Getzlaf said. "That was a lot better defensive effort. We shut them down. Goaltending played great and didn't allow any second chances. It was a good healthy game. Both teams had hard fought nights."

Jason LaBarbera stopped 22-of-23 shots for Phoenix.

Perry's goal at the 7:10 mark of the first period proved to be the game- winner. Getzlaf stole the puck in the neutral zone before passing to Bobby Ryan. Perry, positioned in the slot, took a pass from Ryan and beat LaBarbera.

At the 5:17 mark of the second stanza, LaBarbera stopped Andrew Cogliano on a penalty shot to keep it a 1-0 game.

"We got a solid game from him," Coyotes coach Dave Tippett said. "He stopped a penalty shot and another breakaway. He gave us a chance to win and we just needed a little more push on the offensive side."

Getzlaf added an empty-net goal late in the third period. Hiller made nine saves in the final frame.

    Game Notes

Phoenix had won three straight against Anaheim ... It was the 16th career shutout for Hiller ... The Ducks started a three-game homestand on Wednesday ... Anaheim forward Kyle Palmieri (upper body) and defenseman Bryan Allen (flu-like symptoms) missed Wednesday's game .. Anaheim's 16-3-3 record (35 points) equals the club's best-ever mark through 22 games (15-2-5 for 35 points in 2006-07).
