Carolina to reward Skinner with extension Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Carolina Hurricanes forward Jeff Skinner is in line to receive a lengthy contract extension. According to TSN of Canada, the 2011 Calder Trophy winner is expected to be the beneficiary of a six-year deal worth over $34 million. Skinner posted 20 goals and 44 points for Carolina last year, missing 16 games mid-season due to a concussion. Carolina general manager Jim Rutherford posted the following on his Twitter account late Tuesday: "It looks like we are going to be able to get Jeff Skinner tied up for a number of years. Exciting news for our franchise." The 20-year-old Ontario native has totaled 51 goals and 107 points in 146 games over his first two NHL campaigns. 08/07 23:29:27 ET Powered by The Sports Network. |
