    Jacksonville Jaguars

    Position
    QB

    Jersey
    5
    Name  Blake Bortles
    Born  12/16/1991
    Height  6-5
    Weight  232
    College  UCF
    12/28/2014 5:41:00 PM
Description: Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles did better running the ball than he did throwing in Week 17.
Insight: Bortles led the team in rushing with 61 yards on three carries, but through the air, Bortles continued to struggle, completing 14-of-33 passes for 117 yards. He will likely get another season to develop, but he didn't look very good in his rookie season.

    12/19/2014 9:25:00 AM
Description: Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles wasn't pretty, but led his team to a 21-13 Thursday night victory.
Insight: Bortles was 23-of-26 for 115 yards and a touchdown and rushed five times for 50 yards. The Jaguars running game was the key to this victory, not Bortles arm. Bortles has shown flashes this season, but will need much better protection in front of him if he's to become fantasy worthy in 2015.

    12/17/2014 5:25:00 PM
Description: Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles will be active for Thursday night's game against the Titans.
Insight: That's good considering Bortles is about the only thing that viewers might be tuning in to watch. Bortles has still be flat out bad at times, with just multiple touchdowns in two of 12 appearances. He has also taken 46 sacks, but if owners are desperate, Bortles will be available.

    12/15/2014 1:58:00 PM
Description: Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles suffered a mid-foot sprain, according to beat writer John Oehser.
Insight: Bortles took eight more sacks in Week 15, which brings his total to 46 on the season and this is part of the consequences of not protecting your quarterback. He should be considered unlikely to play Thursday on a short work week.

    12/14/2014 6:28:00 PM
Description: Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles still hasn't learned when to get rid of the football.
Insight: Bortles took eight more sacks in Week 15, which brings his total to 46 on the season. As a team, Jacksonville has allowed 62 sacks this season, so it probably isn't all Bortles' shortcomings. Bortles has shown promise this season, but he isn't fantasy relevant.

    12/7/2014 7:16:00 PM
Description: Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles threw for 205 yards in Sunday's loss to the Texans.
Insight: He threw one touchdown and one interception, and continue to be nothing more than a QB2.

    11/30/2014 6:52:00 PM
Description: Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles took seven sacks but still managed to lead his team to a, 25-24, victory over the Giants.
Insight: Bortles only threw for 194 yards and a touchdown, however, fantasy owners were helped out by his 68 rushing yards. Bortles is still not a great fantasy option even in two-quarterback leagues.

    11/23/2014 6:53:00 PM
Description: Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles had a poor outing during Week 12's loss to the Colts.
Insight: He threw or 146 yards and an interception. Bortles should be in anybody's starting lineup for the remainder of the season.

    11/9/2014 6:10:00 PM
Description: Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles threw for 290 yards in Sunday's loss to Dallas.
Insight: He also threw an interception and no touchdowns, and by no means do we recommend putting Bortles in your lineup for the rest of the season.

    11/9/2014 12:08:00 PM
Description: Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles is dealing with a sore left wrist but is playing Sunday.
Insight: Just because he's playing doesn't mean he's fantasy worthy. Too many turnovers.

    11/2/2014 5:36:00 PM
Description: Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles was 22-for-33 with 247 yards and two touchdowns on Sunday against the Bengals.
Insight: It might have been Bortles best game as a pro, but he made another costly mistake that hurt his team and fantasy teams. He threw a pick in the end zone in an attempt to bring Jacksonville back. Bortles is really only useful in dynasty leagues.

    10/26/2014 7:10:00 PM
Description: Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles threw for 221 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions on Sunday.
Insight: He continues to be inconsistent, and we simply cannot recommend him to owners, until we see more.

    10/19/2014 5:31:00 PM
Description: Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles was 17-for-31 with 159 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions on Sunday against the Browns.
Insight: Bortles continues to struggle, but he led his team to its first victory of the season. He is still not worth more than a QB2 in deep leagues.

    10/12/2014 5:54:00 PM
Description: Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles had a solid afternoon against the Titans.
Insight: He had 336 yards, one touchdown, and one interception, but did take six sacks. Bortles is no more than a QB2.

    10/5/2014 5:44:00 PM
Description: Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles went 22-for-36 with 191 yards and threw two interceptions against the Steelers on Sunday.
Insight: He looked effective in the short passing game, but once Bortles tried to go long, the Steelers effectively rushed him with blitzers and picked him off twice. Jacksonville will visit Tennessee, who blew a big lead against the Browns in Week 5.

    9/29/2014 9:40:00 AM
Description: Jacksonville QB Blake Bortles started 15-of-17 for 149 yards and the Jaguars scored 14 early points, but that's all they could muster.
Insight: He finished 14-of-20 for 104 yards and two interceptions. Different quarterback - same results.

    9/21/2014 6:13:00 PM
Description: We saw the good and bad of playing a rookie quarterback Sunday.
Insight: Jaguars rookie quarterback Blake Bortles started the second half for Jacksonville in Game 3 of the season and threw for 223 yards and two touchdowns, but also two interceptions. The game was already out of hand when he came into the game (30-0), so we should get a better read if he starts the next game.

    9/21/2014 2:44:00 PM
Description: Jaguars rookie quarterback Blake Bortles started the second half for Jacksonville in Game 3 of the season.
Insight: That's a bit earlier than the team had hoped, but down 30-0 to Indianapolis there was no reason not to see what they have.

    9/13/2014 7:29:00 PM
Description: Jaguars coach Gus Bradley told Florida Times Union he sees "positive signs" from rookie quarterback Blake Bortles in practice.
Insight: Bortles has impressed Bradley with his footwork and ability to make throws despite only practicing with the scout team. Jacksonville plans to keep Chad Henne the starter, but he really struggled in the second half against Philadelphia. Bortles is likely a few weeks away from taking over under center.

    8/28/2014 7:35:00 PM
Description: Jaguars rookie quarterback Blake Bortles finished the preseason strong, completing 4-of-6 passes for 86 yards and a touchdown against the Falcons on Thursday.
Insight: Bortles threw a 57-yard bomb to fellow rookie Marqise Lee. The quarterback finished the preseason 32-of-51 for 521 yards, two touchdowns and no picks. It's looking more and more likely that Bortles will become the starting quarterback at some point this season. If you can be patient and sacrifice a spot on your bench for him, he could provide some late season value.
