    Washington Redskins

    Position
    S

    Jersey
    31
    Name  Brandon Meriweather
    Born  1/14/1984
    Height  5-11
    Weight  200
    College  Miami-Florida
    10/21/2013 9:23:00 PM
Description: Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather has been suspended two games by the NFL for repeatedly putting other players in danger with his illegal hits.
Insight: Meriweather has been testing the league's patience for years with his constant head-hunting. The two-time Pro Bowler has been fined at least four times throughout his career. Bears wideout Brandon Marshall even suggested that Meriweather should be removed from the sport altogether. We'll see if the two-game ban changes Meriweather's reckless style of play in the future.

    9/15/2013 2:15:00 PM
Description: Brandon Meriweather has indeed suffered a concussion.
Insight: Obviously, he won't be returning. Right now, however, Washington's priority should be on scoring. They're down 24-0 and it isn't even half time yet.

    9/15/2013 1:57:00 PM
Description: Well, that didn't take long. Injury-prone Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather is already out with a head or neck injury.
Insight: He banged his helmet on Packers running back James Starks in the second quarter. This has concussion written all over it.

    9/15/2013 11:44:00 AM
Description: Washington strong safety Brandon Meriweather is active for Sunday's matchup against the Packers.
Insight: He sat out Week 1 because of a groin injury. Meriweather collected 12 interceptions in his final three seasons with New England but hasn't recorded one since (12 games for Chicago and Washington).

    9/9/2013 11:53:00 AM
Description: Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather is questionable for Monday's game against Philadelphia with a groin injury. He'll be a game-time decision.
Insight: The Redskins would likely start Reed Doughty at strong safety if Meriweather can't go.

    11/19/2012 3:39:00 PM
Description: Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather is out for the year with a torn ACL.
Insight: Meriweather suffered the injury Sunday in his Redskins debut. Washington will be forced to use the combination of Madieu Williams and Jordan Pugh at safety Thursday against the Cowboys.

    10/1/2012 3:15:00 PM
Description: Two-time Pro Bowl safety Brandon Meriweather injured his knee in the Redskins warmups before Week 4 and is not expected to be available for Week 5.
Insight: The Redskins were already paper thin in the secondary and face the pass-happy Atlanta Falcons next week. This could get ugly.

    8/19/2012 8:38:00 PM
Description: Two-time Pro Bowl safety Brandon Meriweather injured his knee Saturday in the Redskins' loss to the Bears, but an MRI showed no major damage.
Insight: Meriweather collected just 32 tackles in 2011, the lowest total he's had since his rookie season. He should be fine for the start of the regular season but don't expect Meriweather to be the dominant force he's been in years past.

    3/10/2011 4:04:00 AM
Description: New England Patriots safety Brandon Meriweather allegedly shot two men, one of them in the head, during a fight on February 27 outside a house party in Apopka, Florida, according to John Morgan, attorney for the victims. "He's extremely lucky to be alive," Morgan said. SOURCE: DEADSPIN
Insight: The details are still vague, but from what we can gather this could be quite serious. The trouble started at the Blue Jeans Lounge in Apokpa when a friend of Meriweather's allegedly beat up a woman, according to Morgan. The woman's brother arrived later with his own friend and that's when the gun made its first appearance. Plaxico Burress went to prison for much less... and has missed the last two years of football. Meriweather better get at least the same punishment/discipline.

    10/23/2009 1:27:00 AM
Description: Meriweather did not practice on Thursday due to a food injury, according to the Boston Herald.
Insight: Meriweather is a new addition to the injury report but is expected to be active in Week 7 against the Bucs. (SportsBuff.com)

    10/26/2008 7:30:00 AM
Description: Brandon Meriweather will take over at safety for Rodney Harrison, whose season was ended by a torn quad muscle on Monday night. Meriweather has shifted between safety and corner in his two years with the team but has yet to break through anywhere. He does have three interceptions and five other pass breakups this season, though, and could be an IDP sleeper now that he has a starting job. (SportsBuff.com)
