    Pittsburgh Steelers

    Position
    LB

    Jersey
    Name  LaMarr Woodley
    Born  11/3/1984
    Height  6-2
    Weight  265
    College  Michigan
    10/22/2014 8:53:00 PM
Description: Raiders linebacker LaMarr Woodley is expected to miss the rest of the season due to a torn biceps muscle according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Insight: Woodley only had five tackles and zero sacks in six games, anyway, so the Raiders really won't miss him. Woodley's sacks totals have been in steady decline since 2009. He has one more season on the deal Woodley signed with Oakland this past offseason, but the Raiders will likely release him this spring.

    3/10/2014 7:24:00 PM
Description: According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Steelers will release linebacker LaMarr Woodley within the next 24 hours.
Insight: Woodley produced double-digit sacks three years in a row between 2008 and 2010 but he only has nine in his last two seasons. The 29-year-old Michigan product has played his entire career in Pittsburgh.

    12/17/2013 8:10:00 PM
Description: The Steelers have placed outside linebacker LaMarr Woodley on season-ending injured reserve.
Insight: Woodley injured his calf in Sunday's win over Cincinnati. He'll end the year with 36 tackles, one forced fumble and one recovery in 11 games.

    12/9/2012 11:42:00 AM
Description: Pittsburgh linebacker LaMarr Woodley is out for Sunday's game against San Diego due to an ankle injury.
Insight: The Steelers' defense has been formidable no matter who has been sidelined this season. For Week 14 they will be without Woodley and cornerback Ike Taylor.

    11/27/2012 1:25:00 PM
Description: Pittsburgh linebacker LaMarr Woodley is doubtful for Sunday's game against Baltimore due to an ankle injury.
Insight: The Steelers' defense has given up the fewest yards of any team in the league (2,829), but Woodley has been playing well and this would hurt as they get ready to face the division rival Ravens.

    10/8/2012 8:51:00 PM
Description: Pittsburgh linebacker LaMarr Woodley is doubtful for Thursday's game against the Titans. Woodley exited Sunday's win over the Eagles because of a hamstring injury.
Insight: Head coach Mike Tomlin is calling the injury "mild" so Woodley probably would have had a good chance to play if the game were on Sunday or Monday. With the short week though, we're guessing the Steelers air on the side of caution and let Woodley sit this one out.

    10/7/2012 2:15:00 PM
Description: Steelers linebacker LaMarr Woodley left Week 5's game against the Eagles with a hamstring injury. His return is questionable.
Insight: With Woodley and Troy Polamalu on the sidelines, the Steelers will be thin on the defensive side of the ball.

    2/23/2011 9:00:00 PM
Description: Woodley signed his franchise tender on Wednesday.
Insight: The young stud 'backer is now locked in to return to the Steelers in 2011, but really, a long-term deal seems likely in this case. Woodley has quickly turned into an annual IDP starting option. (RapidDraft.com)

    2/18/2011 5:37:00 PM
Description: LB LaMarr Woodley has been declared the Steelers' franchise player. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: Woodley will earn roughly $10 million under the tag in 2011. This is just a way to keep Woodley around because the Steelers fully intend on signing Woodley to a long-term contract.

    2/3/2011 5:12:00 PM
Description: Impending free agent LB LaMarr Woodley said he wouldn't be opposed if the Steelers slapped him with the franchise tag. SOURCE: ESPN.COM
Insight: "Nah, I wouldn't be against it at all." The Steelers want to sign Woodley long term, but can't until there is a new Collective Bargaining Agreement. Woodley put up ten sacks in 2010, which was his third-straight season of double-digit sacks.

    10/24/2010 2:58:00 PM
Description: Steelers LB LaMarr Woodley injured his hamstring and is questionable to return against the Dolphins.
    Insight:

    7/26/2010 11:03:00 PM
Description: LaMarr Woodley will show up on time for training camp, a source tells ESPN.com.
Insight: Woodley?s pursuit of a big payday is being handcuffed by the 30/30 rule. He?ll cash in sooner or later, but look for another excellent season from him on the IDP front. (RapidDraft.com)

    7/26/2010 12:50:00 PM
Description: According to a source, Steelers LB LaMarr Woodley is expected to show up to training camp on time. SOURCE: ESPN.COM
Insight: Due $550,000 in 2010, Woodley knows he is grossly underpaid. But like other players in his situation, the "30 percent rule" won't allow the team to give Woodley the best contract possible. Woodley will play highly motivated this year with free agency looming in 2011.

    7/20/2010 11:34:00 PM
Description: LaMarr Woodley believes the Steelers are taking a "pretty risky gamble" in banking on the franchise tag to be available next year.
Insight: The star linebacker does have a point. The Steelers should make it clear that they have every intention of taking care of an important piece of their defensive corps as soon as they are able to. (sportsBuff.com)

    7/14/2010 10:47:00 PM
Description: Updating a previous item, the Saginaw News reports the Steelers are expected to sign OLB LaMarr Woodley to a long-term contract once a new collective bargaining agreement is in place
Insight: They would be smart to do so as he should be part of their core for a long time. Look for this deal to get done as soon as the Steelers are able to do so. (SportsBuff.com)

    7/14/2010 11:10:00 AM
Description: Steelers LB LaMarr Woodley is expected to sign a long-term extension once a new collective bargaining agreement is in place. SOURCE: SAGINAW NEWS
Insight: Woodley has been on his best behavior, even though he does deserve more money. Once again, the CBA is a thorn in a lot of players' sides going into 2010. The Steelers have been known to reward their own, so Woodley is biding his time until the "30 percent rule" is abolished.

    7/13/2010 9:24:00 PM
Description: Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker LaMarr Woodley, who totalled 62 tackles, 13.5 sacks and one forced fumble last season, is heading into the last year of his rookie contract and it doesn't look like he'll be getting an extension.SOURCE: YAHOO! SPORTS - NFL - PITTSBURGH STEELERS NEWS
    Insight:

    7/12/2010 8:33:00 PM
Description: The Steelers have reportedly decided not to give OLB LaMarr Woodley a contract extension before the start of the 2010 season.
Insight: The "30 percent" rule is handcuffing the Steelers here. Woodley may reach free agent status next year after all. (sportsBuff.com)

    5/19/2010 12:53:00 PM
Description: Steelers OLB LaMarr Woodley will not skip any offseason practices or hold out of training camp despite his contract situation.
Insight: Woodley will hold tight and assume that Pittsburgh will pay him when it's feasible. He should be a highly coveted IDP player this season. (SportsBuff.com)

    5/16/2010 6:55:00 PM
Description: The current CBA's "30 percent rule" is keeping LaMarr Woodley from getting a long-term contract extension, according to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Insight: That may be so, but Woodley is one of Pittsburgh's most important defensive players, so they will need to find a way to make him happy. He is set for another good IDP campaign. (sportsBuff.com)
