NFL Game Summary - Indianapolis at Philadelphia

    (Sunday, November 7th)

Final Score: Philadelphia 26, Indianapolis 24

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Michael Vick ran for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter and Asante Samuel sealed the victory with an interception in the final seconds, as the Philadelphia Eagles held off the Indianapolis Colts, 26-24, at Lincoln Financial Field.

Vick returned to the lineup after missing three games with a rib injury and completed 17-of-29 passes for 218 yards and a touchdown for the Eagles (5-3), who are now a perfect 12-0 under head coach Andy Reid following the bye week. Vick also carried the ball 10 times for 74 yards.

"As far as signature win, I'm not sure about that. That's deep stuff," Reid said. "We have a lot of games left. We're sitting at the halfway point. Next Monday will be an important game too."

DeSean Jackson caught seven passes for 109 yards and scored for Philadelphia, which snapped a streak of four straight losses to the Colts dating back to a 20-10 win at Indianapolis in 1993. It was also the Eagles' first victory against the Colts in Philly since October 14, 1984.

LeSean McCoy carried the ball 16 times for 95 yards.

Peyton Manning, making his 200th career start, connected on 31-of-52 passes for 294 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions for the Colts (5-3), who saw a three-game winning streak come to an end.

Jacob Tamme caught 11 passes for 108 yards and a touchdown, while Javarris James added two rushing TDs in defeat.

"They played extremely well. We just couldn't get it over the hump there at the end," Colts head coach Jim Caldwell said.

The Eagles, trailing by one, 17-16, got the ball at their own 46-yard line with 11 minutes to play in the third quarter. Vick got Philadelphia in range for a field goal, and David Akers came through with a 44-yarder for a 19-17 lead with 7:28 left.

Following a punt, Philadelphia got the ball at its own 20-yard line with over four minutes remaining. Two offensive penalties helped set up a 2nd-and-26, but Vick got most of that back with a 22-yard strike to Jeremy Maclin. Vick then took things into his own hands with a 32-yard run.

On the second play of the fourth period, Vick rolled to his left and threw a pass to Jason Avant, who came up one yard short of the end zone. The play was upheld following a challenge by the Eagles. Vick then failed to get into the end zone on a QB sneak. However, Philadelphia let Vick try again. This time it resulted in a score and a 26-17 lead with 13:47 to play.

Indy was forced to punt the ball away. The Eagles got the ball to midfield and chewed up 6:48 on the clock before having to punt.

That left Manning with 5:57 and three timeouts to work with. Faced with a 4th- and-18 from the Philly 41, Manning was stripped of the ball. However, the refs called unnecessary roughness on Eagles defensive end Trent Cole. The Colts took advantage of the call with James' one-yard touchdown run with 1:50 left.

Philadelphia, holding a two-point edge, took over at its own 20 following the kickoff. The Eagles got one first down and Indy called all three of its timeouts to get the ball back.

Manning led the Colts onto the field at their own 26 with 40 seconds remaining. Manning got the visitors to the 41-yard line. Samuel then came up with his second pick of the game to seal the victory.

The Eagles came out of the gates flying. McCoy started the game with a 62-yard run to the 10-yard line. Two players later, Vick hooked with Jackson for a nine-yard score. Jackson was playing in his first game since suffering a concussion against the Falcons on October 17.

Samuel intercepted Manning on the Colts' first possession of the contest. A 33-yard return set up the Eagles at the nine-yard line. Philadelphia, though, had to settle for a 22-yard Akers field goal and a 10-0 lead with 11:23 remaining.

A nice punt by Indianapolis pinned the Eagles at their own one-yard line. Vick got Philadelphia out of its own territory with a 58-yard pass to Jackson. The Eagles had to settle for another field goal, this time a 21-yarder from Akers for a 13-0 margin with 2:11 left in the first quarter.

The Colts came storming back to take the lead. The visitors bridged the first and second periods with an 11-play, 76-yard drive. Tamme capped the march with a three-yard TD catch with 11:58 left in the half.

Akers made a 31-yard field goal to make it a 16-7 game with 6:25 remaining.

Indianapolis, though, fought back with a nine-play, 80-yard drive. Faced with a 2nd-and-6, Manning threw a pass to Austin Collie, who was hit near the head by two defenders. The hit on the incomplete pass brought out a penalty flag. The Eagles were called for a personal foul on the next play to set up the Colts at the six. James then scampered into the end zone to cut the gap to 16-14 with 1:58 to go.

Philadelphia went three-and-out on offense. An 18-yard punt had Indy at midfield with 1:04 left. Adam Vinatieri's 37-yard field goal gave the Colts a 17-16 edge at the break.

    Game Notes

The Colts hold a 10-7 edge in their all-time series with the Eagles.
