    Toronto Raptors

    Position
    G

    Jersey
    21
    Name  Greivis Vasquez
    Born  1/16/1987
    Height  6-6
    Weight  211
    College  Maryland
    2/28/2015 7:06:00 PM
Description: Raptors guard Greivis Vasquez will start in place of the banged up Kyle Lowry on Saturday versus the Knicks.
Insight: Although it was a year ago, Vasquez hit six 3-pointers on his way to 26 points the last time Lowry missed a game. Vasquez is a great plug-in option on Saturday versus the bad Knicks.

    1/28/2015 9:59:00 PM
Description: Toronto has one of the best backcourts in the league in Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan, but it was Greivis Vasquez and Louis Williams leading the way on Wednesday.
Insight: Vazquez led all starters in scoring with 18 points. He was 4-for-5 from the 3-point line and 7-for-9 overall. He also had six assists and four rebounds.

    1/3/2015 9:19:00 AM
Description: Raptors guard Greivis Vasquez played 34 minutes on Friday and made five 3-pointers.
Insight: Vasquez has always been a good shooter, the question was always would he see enough playing time. Friday, he saw enough to score a season-high. Vasquez also had seven assists, five rebounds and a steal.

    10/25/2014 1:49:00 PM
Description: Raptors guard Greivis Vasquez only has value in deeper leagues unless Kyle Lowry gets hurt.
Insight: The days of Vasquez leading the league in assists are long gone, mostly because he is a backup to Lowry. He will contribute about four-to-five assists per game, but his value in standards leagues is strictly as a handcuff to Lowry.

    Hot4/5/2014 11:03:00 PM
Description: Raptors guard Greivis Vasquez had 26 points, four rebounds, four assists and six threes in 37 minutes Saturday at Milwaukee.
Insight: Vasquez has started the last three games in place of Kyle Lowry (bruised knee) and averaged 17 points, 5.0 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 4.0 threes.

    4/2/2014 10:19:00 PM
Description: Raptors guard Greivis Vasquez played 40 minutes in place of Kyle Lowry (knee) Wednesday and had 15 points, eight assists and four rebounds.
Insight: Vasquez averaged 13.9 points, 9.0 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game last season as New Orleans' starting point guard, so we know he can produce when given the chance. He's been providing decent numbers even with Lowry in the lineup so he's worth an add.

    3/31/2014 10:00:00 PM
Description: Raptors guard Greivis Vasquez had 17 points in 23 minutes Monday.
Insight: Kyle Lowry exited with left knee soreness after colliding with LeBron James, so Vasquez may find himself in the starting lineup. He has scored double-digit points in seven of the last nine games despite playing just 22.4 mpg in that stretch.

    3/30/2014 6:54:00 PM
Description: Raptors guard Greivis Vasquez received five stitches during Sunday's game to close a gash near his left cheekbone, according to Josh Lewenberg of tsn.ca.
Insight: Vasquez returned to the bench with a bandage covering the wound. He should return to the game shortly.

    3/25/2014 9:50:00 PM
Description: Raptors guard Greivis Vasquez had a bizarre night Tuesday against Cleveland.
Insight: Vasquez hit 4-of-7 from three-point range but was 0-of-6 from inside the line (4-of-13 overall). He appeared to injure himself on the game's final play, falling down and throwing up an errant pass that was intercepted by Luol Deng. Vasquez has registered double-digit points in each of his last five games after being held in the single digits four times in his previous six outings.

    3/16/2014 5:56:00 PM
Description: Toronto guard Greivis Vasquez missed all five of his field-goal attempts Sunday against Phoenix and had two points, two assists and three rebounds in 19 minutes.
Insight: Vasquez had 17 points, six assists, five rebounds, three steals and three threes in 28 minutes Friday, but he has played 23 minutes or less in his other six games this month.

    2/27/2014 11:06:00 PM
Description: Toronto guard Greivis Vasquez had 26 points, eight assists, four threes and two steals in 39 minutes Thursday against the Wizards.
Insight: Vasquez saw extra playing time after Terrence Ross suffered an ankle sprain in the first half. Kyle Lowry also suffered an ankle injury at the end of regulation and gutted out three overtimes, so he may have to miss Sunday's game if his ankle swells. Vasquez should be added in most leagues just in case.

    2/3/2014 8:40:00 PM
Description: Toronto guard Greivis Vasquez will be available Monday against the Jazz in spite of an illness, according to Josh Lewenberg of tsn.ca.
Insight: Vasquez saw more playing time when DeMar DeRozan was briefly out of the lineup but he’s only averaging 19 minutes per game since being traded to the Raptors.

    2/3/2014 2:52:00 PM
Description: Raptors point guard Greivis Vasquez should return to the court after missing one game due to illness, according to Raptors beat reporter Josh Lewenberg.
Insight: Vasquez is seeing very little PT with Kyle Lowry on top of his game. He's cracked double digits just once inhis last five games.

    1/29/2014 7:01:00 PM
Description: Raptors point guard Greivis Vasquez will start Wednesday for the first time since coming to Toronto from Sacramento.
Insight: Vasquez will play in place of the injured DeMar DeRozan. He has averaged 24.4 minutes, 10.8 points, 6.3 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.5 threes over the last six games.

    1/20/2014 6:41:00 PM
Description: Raptors point guard Greivis Vasquez had 15 points, nine assists, seven rebounds and three triples in 24 minutes off the bench Monday afternoon.
Insight: Vasquez has averaged 22.5 minutes, 13 points, 8.5 assists and 6.0 rebounds in his last two games but he's played just 17 minutes per game as a member of the Raptors.

    12/12/2013 9:08:00 PM
Description: Greivis Vasquez will make his Raptors debut Friday against the Sixers. SOURCE: James Ham, Cowbell Kingdom
Insight: Vasquez was traded to Toronto for Rudy Gay earlier in the week. The starting point guard gig will be his to lose. So far, he's averaged 9.8 ppg and 5.3 apg in 18 contests.

    12/9/2013 10:13:00 AM
Description: Point guard Greivis Vasquez will join a crowded spot in Toronto which already has Kyle Lowry, D.J. Augustin and Dwight Buycks.
Insight: Vasquez was averaging almost 26 minutes in Sacramento, but will be hard-pressed to get that time in Toronto. His fantasy value is therefore up in the air until things get settled.

    11/9/2013 9:10:00 AM
Description: Kings point guard Greivis Vasquez scored 12 points with six assists and two steals in 32 minutes Friday night but he's still averaging just 26.5 minutes, 9.6 points and 4.2 assists per game this season.
Insight: Vasquez has started all five games but he's yielding playing time to Isaiah Thomas, who is averaging 29.5 minutes per game. If you have to pick one, Thomas is the player to own in this PG timeshare.

    7/4/2013 6:40:00 PM
Description: The Pelicans will trade Greivis Vasquez to the Sacramento Kings as part of a three-team trade.
Insight: The team needed to move Vasquez after acquiring Jrue Holiday on draft night. Vasquez will have to compete for minutes at point guard with Isaiah Thomas in Sacramento, and will almost certainly see his production drop off after he averaged 13.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 9.0 assists in 34 minutes per game last season.

    6/28/2013 3:45:00 PM
Description: New Orleans point guard Greivis Vasquez appears headed for a backup role with the acquisition of All-Star Jrue Holiday from the 76ers.
Insight: Vasquez had a breakout season in 2012-13, averaging 13.9 ppg, 4.3 rpg and 9.0 apg. He'll certainly lose value as a result of the trade, but he'll also see more time at the shooting guard spot with injury-prone starter Eric Gordon likely to stick to his no back-to-back games schedule.
