    Denver Nuggets

    Position
    C

    Jersey
    7
    Name  J.J. Hickson
    Born  9/4/1988
    Height  6-9
    Weight  242
    College  NC State
    2/2/2015 11:20:00 AM
Description: If Kenneth Faried returns from illness Tuesday against Philadelphia, Denver PF/C J.J. Hickson would see his playing time go back to its usual level (20 minutes).
Insight: Hickson played 30 minutes Saturday, racking up 12 points and eight rebounds.

    11/17/2014 2:00:00 PM
Description: Denver center J.J. Hickson is still recovering from knee surgery and is restricted in back-to-back games and Monday is the back end of the two-game set.
Insight: Hickson only played 12 minutes Sunday, so might play in this one. he's averaging 7.3 ppg, 7.87 rpg and 1.8 apg.

    10/21/2014 5:30:00 PM
Description: Denver center J.J. Hickson is still recovering from knee surgery, but could be taking the court any day now.
Insight: He is the direct backup at power forward, but if Hickson is able to get healthy, he could also see time at center. He will start the season serving a five-game suspension, and will most likely go undrafted in most fantasy drafts. However, Hickson is a name to keep an eye on, as he has the potential to be average close to a double-double.

    3/25/2014 3:20:00 PM
Description: Denver center J.J. Hickson had surgery to repair a torn ACL in his right knee on Tuesday, but may not be ready for Opening Day next season.
Insight: With Hickson and JaVale McGee out of the picture, the Nuggets have very little talent left in the middle at this point.

    3/22/2014 5:45:00 PM
Description: Denver center J.J. Hickson's MRI revealed a torn ACL in his right knee, according to Chris Dempsey of the Denver Post.
Insight: Hickson (11.8 ppg, 9.2 rpg) suffered the injury Friday night and will miss the rest of the season. Timofey Mozgov, Darrell Arthur and Jan Vesely will absorb Hickson's minutes.

    3/22/2014 4:27:00 PM
Description: Denver center J.J. Hickson (knee) will not play Sunday against the Wizards, according to Aaron J. Lopez of nuggets.com. The Nuggets are awaiting the MRI results on Hickson's right knee.
Insight: Hickson suffered a sprained knee Friday night. He lost his starting job to Timofey Mozgov 14 games ago but his production has actually improved. He averaged 13.2 ppg and 8.9 rpg over his last 14, compared to 11.4 ppg and 9.2 rpg his first 55. Look for Mozgov and Darrell Arthur to pick up Hickson's minutes.

    3/22/2014 10:43:00 AM
Description: Denver center J.J. Hickson injured his right knee Friday night and will need an MRI on Saturday.
Insight: It was described as a right knee sprain, according to Denver Post writer Chris Dempsey. Call Hickson (11.8 ppg, 9.2 rpg) questionable for Sunday against Washington.

    2/26/2014 9:40:00 AM
Description: Denver center J.J. Hickson was on a mission Tuesday versus Portland.
Insight: Coming off the bench for just the fourth time this season, Hickson corralled a season-high 25 rebounds in only 30 minutes of action. Fifteen of those boards came on the offensive glass. He also finished with 16 points, his highest output since February 5th. We'll see if that's enough to earn Hickson a spot in the starting five Thursday against Brooklyn.

    2/8/2014 10:08:00 PM
Description: Nuggets center J.J. Hickson has averaged 12.5 points and 10.4 rebounds over his last 27 games.
Insight: Hickson had 15 points, 16 rebounds, two assists and a block Saturday at Detroit.

    1/19/2014 10:32:00 PM
Description: Nuggets center J.J. Hickson had 14 points and 13 rebounds Sunday at Phoenix.
Insight: Miles Plumlee could not contain him. Hickson has snagged double-digit rebounds in six straight games, including Wednesday when he had 24, and scored at least 13 points four times in that span.

    12/18/2013 9:43:00 AM
Description: Denver forward J.J. Hickson generated 20 points and 14 boards Tuesday in a loss to OKC.
Insight: It's his second double-double in a row. Tuesday marked Hickson's highest scoring output since November 25th's game at Dallas (22 points). He's second on the team in rebounding at 8.4 boards per game.

    11/11/2013 3:30:00 PM
Description: Nuggets PF J.J. Hickson will start at center for JaVale McGee who is sidelined by injury, according to Denver beat writer Chris Dempsey.
Insight: Hickson and Kenneth Faried have been sharing time at the power forward spot. Hickson started 70-plus games at center in Portland last season averaging 12.7 ppg and 10.4 rpg. He's a viable fantasy option with the increased minutes he'll see at the five.

    11/10/2013 4:55:00 PM
Description: Nuggets PF J.J. Hickson could move over to center until JaVale McGee returns from injury.
Insight: Hickson and Kenneth Faried have been sharing time at the power forward spot. Hickson started 70-plus games at center in Portland last season averaging 12.7 ppg and 10.4 rpg.

    10/28/2013 8:47:00 PM
Description: The Denver Nuggets tweeted Monday that coach Brian Shaw is "leaning toward" starting J.J. Hickson at power forward in the season opener on Wednesday.
Insight: Kenneth Faried (hamstring) has practiced that last two days and declared himself ready for Wednesday. The Nuggets play Wednesday and Friday but don't have another game until next Tuesday, so even if Hickson starts the first two games Faried is likely to get the starting job back in Week 2 of the fantasy season.

    7/16/2013 5:23:00 PM
Description: According to the Denver Post, the Nuggets have told newly signed F/C J.J. Hickson that he will compete with Kenneth Faried for the starting power forward spot.
Insight: We can't see the Nuggets taking Faried, a budding star at 24 years old, out of the starting five, especially with George Karl, who limited Faried to 28 mpg last season, gone. Hickson most likely will backup Faried and center JaVale McGee.

    7/7/2013 10:32:00 PM
Description: The Nuggets have agreed with F/C J.J. Hickson on a three-year, $15 million contract, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.
Insight: Hickson averaged a double-double with 12.7 points and 10.3 rebounds per game last season, but he's unlikely to match 29 minutes per game with the Nuggets. The team wants to get JaVale McGee more minutes next season.

    4/12/2013 4:36:00 PM
Description: Portland forward J.J. Hickson (sore back) will play Friday against the Thunder, according to Candace Buckner of The Columbian.
Insight: Hickson missed his first game of the season Wednesday night. LaMarcus Aldridge will also play despite an illness Friday, so Meyers Leonard will move back to the bench.

    4/11/2013 5:27:00 PM
Description: Portland forward J.J. Hickson (sore back) got in a light workout Thursday, according to Chris Haynes of CSNNW.com.
Insight: Hickson missed his first game of the season Wednesday night. He'll be evaluated Friday morning before the team determines his status for that night's game against Oklahoma City.

    4/10/2013 9:00:00 PM
Description: Portland forward J.J. Hickson (sore back) will miss Wednesday's game.
Insight: Hickson hasn't missed a game all season. Meyers Leonard will get the start. He's averaging 13.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 0.8 blocks in six starts this season.

    4/10/2013 11:49:00 AM
Description: Portland forward J.J. Hickson is dealing with a sore back and is questionable for Wednesday's game versus the Lakers.
Insight: Hickson is averaging a solid 12.9 ppg and 10.6 rpg, but according to an Oregonian report GM Neil Olshey said that it wasn't likely the team would bring him back next season. He has little incentive to play the remaining games this season with his injury.
