NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Saturday, February 9th (All times Eastern)

Golden State Warriors (30-20) at Dallas Mavericks (21-28), 8:30 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Golden State Warriors will try to avoid extending their losing streak to a season high four straight games when they close out a four- game road trip Saturday against the Dallas Mavericks.

The Warriors are winless so far on the swing and dropped a 99-93 decision against the Memphis Grizzlies Friday night. Stephen Curry poured in 32 points and handed out eight assists, while David Lee netted 26 points in defeat.

Klay Thompson had nine points to go along with a game-high six turnovers for the Warriors, who also lost three straight from Jan. 13-18. Golden State allowed 63 points in the first half, but held Memphis to 36 in the last two quarters.

"It was a tough loss for us. We didn't make shots," Warriors coach Mark Jackson said.

Golden State had won four in a row until this latest slide and is 14-14 outside of Oakland this season. Warriors guard Jarrett Jack missed his second straight game with a right shoulder contusion and could return Saturday.

The Warriors will host Houston on Tuesday in their return home.

Dallas will resume its five-game homestand Saturday and opened the residency with Wednesday's 105-99 triumph over the Portland Trail Blazers.

O.J. Mayo scored 28 points and veteran Vince Carter added 17 in a reserve role for the Mavericks, who won for the eighth time in 13 tries. Dirk Nowitzki finished with 16 points and eight rebounds, while Shawn Marion added 13 and 10 in a winning effort. Marion has three double-doubles in his last four games.

With the victory, Mavs head coach Rick Carlisle reached 500 career wins.

"It means I've been around a long time; I'm getting old. It's meaningful, but I'm not into those kinds of things," Carlisle said. "I'm into the day-to-day stuff. One relief I have is I think after tomorrow I won't have to hear about it again for a while, so that's good."

Carlisle's club used a 12-0 run to erase a 43-31 deficit and later grabbed a 95-86 advantage thanks to an 18-4 burst. The Mavericks held the Blazers to just 38 points in the second half, including 17 in the fourth quarter, and registered a 38-9 difference in bench scoring.

Dallas has scored 100-plus points in 11 of its last 13 games. In milestone news for Nowitzki, he needs only seven free throws to pass Wilt Chamberlain (6,057) for 15th place on the NBA's all-time list.

The Mavs are 13-9 in Big D this season and will also host Atlanta, Sacramento and Orlando on the current homestand.

Dallas has lost the first two meetings with Golden State this season, but is 8-4 in the past 12 matchups between the Western foes. The Warriors have lost 20 of 26 trips to American Airlines Center.
