NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Tuesday, December 10th (All times Eastern)

New York Knicks (5-14) at Cleveland Cavaliers (7-13), 7 p.m.

(SportsNetwork.com) - The New York Knicks will try to rebound from a bad loss Tuesday night when they visit Quicken Loans Arena to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Knicks were trounced on their home floor, 114-73 Sunday afternoon by the Boston Celtics. The 73 points were a season-low for the Knicks, who had won two straight prior to Sunday.

"I didn't see this coming," Knicks coach Mike Woodson said after the loss. "Nobody should be happy about watching something like this today. It's a step backwards. I thought we turned the corner a bit. I can't have our guys stepping on the floor doing what they did today."

The Knicks trailed 34-11 after just one quarter and by the time the fourth quarter rolled around, New York was down 36 points. The Knicks shot 34 percent from the field and allowed Boston to shoot 54 percent.

Carmelo Anthony paced the Knicks with 19 points and Amare Stoudemire added 17. Metta World Peace chipped in 12 points off the bench.

It was a disastrous afternoon for the Knicks starters. Kenyon Martin missed the game with an ankle issue and Tim Hardaway, Jr. started in his place and scored eight points.

Andrea Bargnani managed two points and both Iman Shumpert and Raymond Felton were held scoreless.

The Knicks are 1-5 in their last six road games and the lone victory came Thursday against New York rivals, the Brooklyn Nets.

Things might be looking up for the Knicks as All-Star center Tyson Chandler participated in practice on Monday. Chandler's been out with a broken right fibula and he only lightly participated in practice. He did tell the media he hopes to play before Jan. 1.

The Cavs have won three of their last four and three straight at home. On Saturday, Cleveland knocked off the visiting Los Angeles Clippers, 88-82.

"I thought our guys brought their hard hats tonight," said head coach Mike Brown. "We responded the way we were supposed to defensively from the outset. That's a good Clippers team averaging well over 100 points, shooting the ball very well."

Cleveland limited the Clippers to 32.2 percent shooting from the field. Kyrie Irving, one game after going scoreless against the Atlanta Hawks, and Tristan Thompson both had 20 points. Thompson grabbed 13 rebounds as well.

Andrew Bynum was very good with 18 points. Jarrett Jack scored 11 for the second unit and Anderson Varejao pulled down 17 boards in 22:41 of action.

The Cavs head to Florida for a pair of games on Friday (Orlando) and Saturday (Miami).

The Knicks swept all three games last season with Cleveland and have won five of six against the Cavaliers. The Knicks snapped a 10-game losing streak in Cleveland with two wins last season.
