NBA Game Summary - Miami at LA Lakers

    (Wednesday, December 25th)

Final Score: Miami 101, LA Lakers 95

Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Perhaps LeBron James was trying to mimic his two sons.

Dwyane Wade and James teamed up on two phenomenal alley-oops and the Miami Heat defeated the Kobe Bryant-less Los Angeles Lakers 101-95 on Christmas Day.

Several hours prior during Christmas morning, James posted footage online of his sons, six-year-old Bryce and nine-year-old Bronny, teaming up for an alley-oop slam on their Nerf hoop.

He later Instagram'd a message to Los Angeles Clippers stars Blake Griffin and Chris Paul. "Bronny and Bryce gone hold down Lob City until y'all get back. Cool? It's like the both of y'all but we gone keep it in our room. Haha," James said.

Turns out his kids might've provided an inspiration.

The first Wade and James connection came with just under four minutes to go in the opening frame. Wade threw a no-look pass over his head to a sprinting James, who emphatically slammed it home with his right hand.

The second dunk was even more extraordinary.

Wade dribbled past a pair of Lakers in transition and tossed a one-handed pass off the right side of the backboard. James finished the alley-oop by catching it with his weaker left hand and slamming it through while ducking his head out of harm's way.

Wade had 23 points, seven assists and six rebounds, while James finished with 19 points and eight boards for Miami, which has won 19 consecutive regular- season games against Western Conference opponents. The Heat are one win away from matching the 1973 Boston Celtics' record 20-game winning streak against Western Conference counterparts.

The Heat have won six in a row overall.

Chris Bosh tallied 23 points and 11 rebounds in the triumph.

This marquee matchup took a hit last week when it was announced Bryant would be out the next six weeks with a broken bone in his knee. He missed the first six weeks of the year while recovering from a torn Achilles.

"It's not as special when Kobe's not out there," James said.

Jordan Farmar came back from a 10-game absence due to a left hamstring tear. His return allowed the Lakers to have a true point guard running the offense with Steve Blake and Steve Nash still out. Farmar had three points and two assists in 32 minutes.

Nick Young netted 20 points off the bench to lead LA, which dropped its third in a row. The Lakers have lost all five games against the Heat on Christmas Day.

"I thought we played really well in spots," Lakers head coach Mike D'Antoni said. "We had a chance to win and didn't."

The game was tied 83-83 with 8:25 left before Miami used a 9-0 spurt to seize control of the contest.

Wade finished a layup, Norris Cole nailed a right-wing triple, James muscled in for a layup and Cole knocked down a jumper to cap the flurry and give the Heat a 92-83 spread with 4:04 to play.

The Lakers never got within less than four the rest of the way.

Earlier, LA led 27-21 after a quarter of play, Bosh went on a personal 10-0 run to vault Miami in front, 46-39, with 3:16 left in the half.

The Heat took a 51-46 cushion into the break.

Young, who had 12 points in the third, nailed a tough step-back 3 over James during the latter stages of the quarter and the Lakers trailed, 76-74, heading into the fourth.

    Game Notes

The Heat shot 51.2 percent (41-of-80) from the floor ... Pau Gasol had 13 points and 13 boards for Los Angeles ... Miami moved to 17-2 when it scores over 100 points .. Ray Allen went 4-of-5 from 3-point range and scored 12 for Miami.
