NBA Game Summary - Philadelphia at Cleveland

    (Saturday, November 9th)

    Final Score: Cleveland 127, Philadelphia 125 (2-OT)

Cleveland, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - The third time was a charm for Kyrie Irving.

Irving netted a season-best 39 points, including the go-ahead layup with 0.6 seconds remaining, to lift the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 127-125 double- overtime win over the Philadelphia 76ers.

After rookie Michael Carter-Williams' step-back 3-pointer from the left wing knotted the contest with 11.3 seconds left, Irving finally made a last-second shot.

He missed potential game-winning attempts at the end of regulation and first overtime before getting one more chance. He took the inbounds pass, eluded a 76ers double team at the top of the key, drove past Carter-Williams with the left-handed dribble along the left wing and converted the lefty lay-in.

"The 76ers did a great job of crowding the paint the first two times I tried to win the game. The third time, they came for a double-team, so I attacked Michael Carter-Williams because they didn't have any shot blockers in the paint," Irving said.

Carter-Williams threw the ensuing inbounds pass out of bounds following a Philadelphia timeout.

Thaddeus Young's layup with 5.5 ticks evened the tilt in regulation and Evan Turner's right baseline drive with 8.7 seconds to go in the first extra frame sent the contest into double overtime.

Irving added 12 assists, Dion Waiters scored 24 points and Jarrett Jack netted 20 points for Cleveland, which lost the opener of this home-and-home set in Philadelphia Friday night.

"Kyrie (Irving) is just incredibly elusive and skilled. You really can't corral him and keep in front of him," 76ers head coach Brett Brown said of Irving.

Cavs center Andrew Bynum did not play so he could rest his sore knees. The seven-footer was booed vehemently in his return to Philadelphia Friday when he tallied four points and five rebounds in 18 minutes.

Turner led the Sixers with 31 points, while Young poured in 29.

Spencer Hawes' layup cut the Philadelphia deficit to 106-105 with 32.4 ticks in regulation before the Cavs took the clock down at the other end. Jack's left corner triple clanked off the front rim, but Tristan Thompson came up with a key offensive rebound. He split a pair of free throws with 10.5 seconds left to make it 107-105.

Young, though, used a quick first step from the high right post to get past Thompson before getting his awkward lefty layup to drop.

Cleveland built a 116-109 cushion in the first OT with 1:35 left before the resilient Sixers rallied.

The Cavs led 30-27 after a quarter of play and took a 53-48 edge into the break.

Philly, though, outscored the hosts 37-22 in the third and entered the fourth with an 85-75 advantage.

    Game Notes

Cavs rookie forward Anthony Bennett didn't score a point in nine minutes of action. He is 1-of-21 from the field this season ... Sixers center Daniel Orton missed his second straight game with a sore right knee.
