NBA Game Summary - Golden State at Minnesota

    (Sunday, February 24th)

Final Score: Golden State 100, Minnesota 99

Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - Jarrett Jack scored a team-high 23 points to go with eight assists on Sunday, as the Golden State Warriors snuck past the Minnesota Timberwolves, 100-99, at Target Center.

David Lee recorded a double-double with 22 points and 13 rebounds, while Carl Landry added 19 points and nine boards to help the Warriors snap a five-game road skid.

Stephen Curry contributed 18 points and five assists in Golden State's third consecutive win overall.

"When we need stops, when we needed to make plays, we did," Golden State coach Mark Jackson said. "We're a team that's not going to quit."

Derrick Williams led the Timberwolves with 23 points and 12 rebounds and Nikola Pekovic poured in 21 points to go with eight boards in the setback, Minnesota's second in a row and seventh in its last nine games.

Ricky Rubio registered 16 points, 11 assists, eight rebounds and six steals in the loss.

Minnesota led, 81-76, after three quarters before scoring the first four points of the fourth to push the margin to nine.

The Warriors answered with seven straight points to pull within two, but couldn't find the go-ahead bucket until Jack buried a 3-pointer with 1:48 remaining to give the visitors a 96-95 edge.

After Rubio and Curry exchanged buckets, Andrei Kirilenko got a good look at a triple from the right wing, but his shot was off the mark and Jack corralled the rebound.

Following a timeout, Jack came up empty on a jumper, but the Warriors' big men were able to tip the rebound back to Harrison Barnes near halfcourt.

Barnes was fouled and hit the first free throw before missing the second, but Golden State again came up with the offensive rebound to keep possession.

Kent Bazemore then split two free throws before Rubio recovered the rebound, got fouled, and hit both free throws to make it 100-99 with 30.4 ticks left.

Jack then let the shot clock run down before shooting a jumper that was off the mark and Kirilenko came up with the rebound with 8.9 seconds left.

Kirilenko quickly got the ball to Luke Ridnour, who charged down the court and got to the left block for a short shot, but his floater came up short and Curry corralled the rebound as time expired, allowing the Warriors to escape with the victory.

"We didn't shoot it well again from three, but we played well," Minnesota coach Rick Adelman said of his team going 1-for-11 from long range. "We gave ourselves a great chance to win, we just couldn't finish it."

Minnesota shot 54.2 percent (13-for-24) in the first frame and led, 32-18, after 12 minutes.

Golden State caught fire in the second stanza, as the Warriors shot a scorching 61.9 percent (13-for-21) from the floor in the frame and outscored the Timberwolves, 34-23, to trim the margin to 55-52 heading into the break.

The Warriors took their first lead of the contest just under 2 1/2 minutes into the third when Lee knocked down a jumper to make it 60-59 in favor of the visitors, but Minnesota ended the period on a strong note to take an 81-76 edge into the fourth.

    Game Notes

Minnesota fell to 13-14 at home ... Golden State has won all three meetings with Minnesota this season and has taken five straight overall ... The Warriors improved to 15-16 on the road ... Golden State shot 45.7 percent (37- for-81) from the floor overall, while Minnesota finished 43.5 percent (37- for-85) from the field.
