NBA Game Summary - Oklahoma City at San Antonio

    (Thursday, November 1st)

Final Score: San Antonio 86, Oklahoma City 84

San Antonio, TX (Sports Network) - Tony Parker roared in jubilation, while Tim Duncan embraced the Frenchman in front of the Oklahoma City Thunder bench.

Parker tied the contest with a late 3-pointer and then swished the game winning jumper as time expired in the San Antonio Spurs' 86-84 win over the Thunder in a rematch of the Western Conference finals.

Parker banged home a triple from the left corner with 28 seconds left and Russell Westbrook turned the ball over while trying to get it to Kevin Durant on the Thunder's ensuing possession.

Westbrook then got lost while covering Parker, who came off a down screen before getting the ball at the left wing on San Antonio's next touch. He took a dribble to his left before calmly burying the wide-open jumper with Serge Ibaka closing in.

"Tony was great," San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich said of his star point guard. "Down the stretch you think he might be getting a little tired on the back-to-back, but he had his legs on the shots and did a great job."

Parker finished with 14 points and 11 assists for the Spurs, who had a 20-game overall winning streak and a 2-0 Western Conference finals lead before the Thunder charged back with four consecutive wins to take the West crown.

Duncan had 20 points and eight rebounds in the victory.

Durant tallied 23 points and 14 boards, while Westbrook added 18 points, eight rebounds and five assists for Oklahoma City, which fell to the Miami Heat in the NBA finals.

"I'm proud of our guys," Oklahoma City coach Scott Brooks remarked. "That was a great first game. That's the way to open up the season. Obviously I wish we would have won the game, but there's nothing to be ashamed of."

The Thunder locked up their young core of Durant, Westbrook and Ibaka to long- term contracts, but were unable to work out a deal with the reigning Sixth Man of the Year James Harden.

Harden was shipped to the Houston Rockets on Saturday in exchange for Kevin Martin, Jeremy Lamb, two 2013 first-round picks and a second-rounder.

Harden, who signed a multi-year contract extension with Houston on Wednesday, would've been a free agent at the end of the season and Oklahoma City didn't think it could sign the talented combo guard.

Martin netted 15 points in his Thunder debut.

Durant recorded eight points in the opening frame as the Thunder took a 24-21 into the second, but San Antonio outscored Oklahoma City 24-16 in the second and held 45-40 edge at the break.

A 10-2 Spurs run in the third helped the hosts build their largest lead of 10, 61-51, but Oklahoma City ended the frame on a 15-5 swing to tie the contest at 66-66 heading into the final stanza.

Eric Maynor, who tore his right ACL in January and missed the rest of last year's campaign, swished in a three-quarter court shot from the AT&T Center logo as the third period horn sounded.

After Durant's dunk early in the fourth gave the Thunder a 69-66 margin, the Spurs countered with an 11-2 burst for a 77-71 advantage with 8:04 to go.

Oklahoma City, though, battled back and tied the game at 80-80 when the newly acquired Martin put in a three with 3:31 left.

Duncan then made 1-of-2 from the foul line before Westbrook made four straight from the charity stripe for an 84-81 Thunder cushion with 1:26 remaining.

    Game Notes

Durant, who reached 10,000 points, became the second youngest player to reach the milestone ... The Spurs shot 44.3 percent (35-of-79), while the Thunder finished 37.7 percent (29-of-77) from the field.
