NBA Game Summary - Minnesota at Miami

    (Friday, April 4th)

    Final Score: Minnesota 122, Miami 121 (2-OT)

Miami, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Corey Brewer sank the winning free throw with 1.8 seconds remaining in the second overtime, as the Minnesota Timberwolves topped the short-handed Miami Heat, 122-121, Friday night.

Kevin Love had 28 points and 11 rebounds for the Timberwolves, who snapped a seven-game skid against the Heat. Love also played a big part defensively for the visitors, as he pressured Ray Allen's final shot, which was off the mark.

Chase Budinger totaled 24 points and Ricky Rubio contributed 13 points and 14 assists for the Timberwolves, who have won two in a row and four of their last six games.

LeBron James had 34 points and eight boards for Miami, which is locked in a virtual tie with Indiana atop the Eastern Conference. Chris Bosh and Mario Chalmers each scored 24 for the Heat, which played without Dwyane Wade (strained left hamstring) and Greg Oden (back spasms). The Heat is percentage points ahead of Indiana.

Miami, which had a four-game winning streak broken, tied the contest at 121 on Bosh's quick 3-pointer from the top of the arc with 10.8 seconds left.

The Timberwolves then tried to get the ball to Brewer near the basket, but he was fouled by Norris Cole. Brewer converted his first free throw, but missed the second.

"You just want to see players decide it in the end," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. "We had many more opportunities to close that game out."

Allen, under pressure from Love, missed a high-arcing shot at the buzzer.

"Playing on the road and playing here is very tough," Love said. "They're gearing up for the playoffs. Their fans are really getting into it. This was really good for us tonight."

The Heat were off the mark on only six of 30 foul shots, but there were some key misses. James made 1-of-2 with 16.2 seconds left in the second OT. Chalmers had a chance to possibly win the game for the hosts with 1.9 seconds left in the first extra session, but split a pair from the charity stripe. Chalmers also made 1-of-2 with 3.9 seconds left in regulation to tie the game.

Love missed a 3-pointer at the end of regulation to keep the game tied at 97. Under pressure at the conclusion of the first OT, Love missed another jumper with the game even at 109.

The hosts held a 29-24 edge after one quarter and were up as many as 10 in the second, but the Timberwolves battled back to gain a 52-52 tie at the half by netting the final 10 points.

Minnesota led as many as nine in the third before the Heat closed within 77-75 at quarter's end.

    Game Notes

Miami was 11-of-36 from 3-point range, while the Timberwolves ended 12-of-32 ... Brewer had 12 points, one less than JJ Barea ... The 24 points were a season-best for Chalmers ... James made half of his 24 field-goal attempts.
