NBA Game Summary - Golden State at LA Lakers

(Friday, November 22nd)

Final Score: LA Lakers 102, Golden State 95

Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Pau Gasol scored a game-high 24 points with 10 rebounds, Nick Young netted 21 points off the bench and the Los Angeles Lakers maintained their home dominance over the Golden State Warriors with a 102-95 win on Friday night.

Jordan Farmar and Steve Blake each scored 14 points and the backcourt mates had a combined 13 assists for Los Angeles, which won its 11th straight home game against Golden State.

Golden State played without point guard Stephen Curry, who missed his second straight game with a concussion he suffered against Utah on Monday.

David Lee tallied 21 points and 13 rebounds, while Harrison Barnes and Klay Thompson chipped in with 20 and 19 points, respectively, in the loss.

"I thought most of the game was pretty good," said Lakers head coach Mike D'Antoni. "I thought the ball movement was pretty good. We had some guys that made some big shots, Nick Young especially."

Golden State relinquished its nine point halftime deficit after Andre Iguodala hit a 3-pointer with 4:23 left in the third quarter to tie the game at 63.

Gasol added a layup on the ensuing possession to spark a 12-0 run to end the third quarter.

Los Angeles grabbed its largest lead to that point in the final minute when Farmar pushed the ball in transition and skipped a pass cross-court to Young on the wing. Young pump faked to get the defender in the air, spun to his right and buried a three to give the Lakers a 75-63 lead after the third.

Young gave the Lakers their largest lead of the contest after a three-point play with 8:54 left in the fourth for an 83-67 advantage. Golden State couldn't recover as the Lakers had an answer to everything the Warriors threw at them in the final minutes.

"We had enough to get it done and we did not get it done," said Golden State head coach Mark Jackson. "We can not walk away with a good taste with how we played and the effort we put forth."

The Warriors built a 10-4 lead in the opening minutes of the game, but Los Angeles tied the game with a 6-0 run capped by a Jordan Hill dunk.

Golden State responded with a 6-0 run of their own to take a 16-10 lead with 4:42 to play in the first.

The Lakers, however, closed out the quarter just as a home team should, leading 22-21 after Farmar knocked down a three with 2 seconds left.

Los Angeles led for the entire second quarter, ending the stanza on a 7-0 run which was capped by a Blake 3-pointer with 21.2 seconds left to give the Lakers a 55-46 lead at half.
