NBA Game Summary - San Antonio at Golden State

    (Sunday, May 12th)

Final Score: Golden State 97, San Antonio 87 (OT)

Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - The Golden State Warriors completed their own comeback Sunday to even the Western Conference semifinals at two games apiece.

With Stephen Curry limited due to an ankle injury, Harrison Barnes and Jarrett Jack stepped up with a combined 50 points, and the Warriors controlled the San Antonio Spurs in overtime en route to a 97-87 Game 4 win at a raucous Oracle Arena.

Barnes finished with 26 points and 10 rebounds, Jack poured in 24 points and Curry still netted 22 for the Warriors, who held a commanding 65-51 rebounding advantage to overcome 18 turnovers.

Klay Thompson only had 10 points on 5-of-13 shooting, but banked in a tying runner over Tim Duncan with 30 seconds left in regulation.

The Spurs missed their next eight shots after Thompson's bucket and shot just 36 percent overall, a number they'll hope to improve when they host Game 5 on Tuesday.

Duncan checked in with 19 points and 15 rebounds, Manu Ginobili had a team- high 21 points and Tony Parker added 17 despite a left calf injury.

Golden State blew a huge fourth-quarter lead in dropping the series opener in OT, were overwhelmed in Game 3 on Friday and neared the brink of elimination two days later before rallying on the backs of Barnes and Jack.

"Tonight, Barnes and Jack were tremendous. They got the job done for 'em," Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich said. "Usually the playoffs, teams that win, have other people step up at some point in a series. Those two guys did it tonight in really fine fashion."

The Warriors never led in the fourth quarter but scored 10 of 12 points down the stretch to even things. Thompson pulled the Warriors within 82-80 with a mid-range shot and Jack, who scored the other eight points of the run, connected on a jumper from the foul line to tie the game with 58.5 seconds remaining in regulation.

Parker used a Duncan screen at the top of the key and rattled in a 15-footer, but Thompson drove on Kawhi Leonard and banked in a floater over Duncan for an 84-84 game with 30 seconds showing.

Ginobili missed a step-back 3-pointer, and Jack came away with the loose rebound on the ground before calling timeout with 16.1 seconds left. Replay showed San Antonio's Danny Green knocked the ball off Andrew Bogut's leg while the Warriors' center was standing on the baseline, but the officials did not review the call.

Golden State stuck with the hot hand of Jack on the final possession, and his long attempt with Parker's hand in his face came up short and to the right as the buzzer sounded.

Jack, though, made the first shot of the extra session to start an impressive 9-0 run that put the game away. Barnes scored the next four points and Curry blew by Duncan for a layup while being fouled.

He made the free throw for a 93-84 lead with 1:46 to play, and even though Green ended the Spurs' streak of eight straight misses with a 3-pointer, the Spurs fell short of another miraculous comeback.

"This team will not lay down, this team will not quit," head coach Mark Jackson said of his Warriors. "It looked dark, it looked awfully dark, but we found a way to get stops and to make plays."

Ginobili had 11 points in the first quarter, with the third of his five 3- pointers for the game beating the buzzer to give San Antonio a 26-19 advantage.

The super sub added another from long range to open the second, and while the Spurs stayed comfortably ahead the rest of the half, they were unable to pull away despite Golden State's starting frontcourt of Bogut and Carl Landry sitting for most of the second quarter with three fouls apiece.

The Warriors were within 45-37 at the break, then used an 11-1 run in the early stages of the third quarter to jump in front. Landry converted a go- ahead three-point play off an offensive rebound, and Barnes followed with a 3- pointer for a 55-51 Golden State lead at the midway point of the period.

The lead changed hands five more times before the fourth quarter, and Parker's 16-footer in the final seconds gave the Spurs a 62-60 edge. The basket was part of a 10-0 run that leaked into the fourth, as San Antonio scored inside on its first three possessions to extend its lead to 68-60,

    Game Notes

Duncan has recorded 142 double-doubles in his postseason career, tying Shaquille O'Neal for third place all-time behind Magic Johnson (157) and Wilt Chamberlain (143) ... The Spurs had won 17 of their last 18 games in the playoffs when Ginobili scores 18 or more points ... Bogut pulled down a game- high 18 rebounds ... The Warriors have not won two series in the same playoffs since winning the NBA title in 1975 ... The Warriors have won eight of their last 10 home playoff games ... The Warriors shot 38 percent from the field, the first time they won a playoff game when shooting under 40 percent from the field since May 14, 1975 vs. Chicago.
