James, Durant honored as NBA Players of the Month
New York, NY (Sports Network) - Superstars LeBron James of the Miami Heat and Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder have been named the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Month, respectively, for games played in October/November.
James ranked second in the league in scoring at 25 points per game and fifth in field goal percentage (.533) in helping his team to an 11-3 start during the October/November span. He also averaged 8.9 rebounds and 6.5 assists.
Durant averaged 26.5 points per contest in guiding the Thunder to a 13-4 start to the 2012-13 campaign. He also shot 43.3 percent from 3-point range and 89.3 percent from the free throw line. Durant also averaged 8.8 rebounds and 1.65 blocks.
Other nominees for the awards were Atlanta's Al Horford; Brooklyn's Brook Lopez; Charlotte's Kemba Walker; Cleveland's Anderson Varejao; Dallas' O.J. Mayo; Houston's James Harden; the Los Angeles Clippers' Chris Paul; Memphis' Mike Conley, Marc Gasol, Rudy Gay, and Zach Randolph; New York's Carmelo Anthony; Oklahoma City's Russell Westbrook; Philadelphia's Jrue Holiday and San Antonio's Tim Duncan.
