Description: In a surprise move, Colorado starter Jhoulys Chacin has been released.
Insight: The 27-year-old Chacin was limited to just 11 starts last season and they weren't very good ones as he went 1-7 with a 5.40 ERA, 1.437 WHIP and a 42/28 K/BB. It appears he's still not 100 percent and the Rockies have let him go instead of hoping he could return to his 2013 form.

    3/6/2015 10:07:00 AM
Description: Colorado starter Jhoulys Chacin didn't pitch very well in his first outing, giving up two runs on two hits and a walk over 1 2/3 innings against the Diamondbacks on Thursday.
Insight: Chacin was limited to just 11 starts last season and they weren't very good ones as he went 1-7 with a 5.40 ERA, 1.437 WHIP and a 42/28 K/BB. The Rockies are hoping he can return to 2013 form, but fantasy owners should certainly take a wait and see attitude.

    Cold7/7/2014 9:41:00 PM
Description: While Colorado starter Jhoulys Chacin won't need surgery on his shoulder, he will be shut down for four-to-six weeks, according to Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post.

    Cold7/2/2014 4:38:00 PM
Description: Colorado starter Jhoulys Chacin has been diagnosed with a strained rotator cuff, according to Thomas Harding of mlb.com.
Insight: He also has fraying and may need surgery. Chacin (1-7) dealt with the same shoulder issue in spring training. Over 63 1/3 innings, he's recorded a 5.40 ERA, a 1.44 WHIP and a 42/28 K/BB. He can be released in all leagues.

    Cold6/30/2014 6:43:00 PM
Description: Colorado starter Jhoulys Chacin has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with shoulder inflammation.
Insight: Chacin (1-7) had a 3.47 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP last season, but he's been horrible in 2014 after starting the season on the disabled list with the same shoulder issue. Over 63 1/3 innings, he's recorded a 5.40 ERA, a 1.44 WHIP and a 42/28 K/BB. He can be released in all leagues.

    Cold6/28/2014 8:36:00 PM
Description: Colorado starter Jhoulys Chacin allowed seven runs on 11 hits in 5 2/3 innings Saturday at Milwaukee.
    Insight: Chacin (1-7) had a 3.47 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP last season, but he's been horrible in 2014. Over 63 1/3 innings, he's recorded a 5.40 ERA, a 1.44 WHIP and a 42/28 K/BB. He can be released in all leagues.

    6/12/2014 9:03:00 PM
Description: Colorado starter Jhoulys Chacin had all his pitches working Thursday in a win over Atlanta.
Insight: Chacin allowed just two hits in seven shutout innings. This was actually the right-hander's first victory of the season. We'll see if he can make it two in a row next time out against the Dodgers.

    5/14/2014 5:27:00 PM
Description: Rockies right-hander Jhoulys Chacin has a 7/8 K/BB in 17 innings through three starts this season.
Insight: Chacin missed April due to a shoulder strain and was rocked in his first start. He's thrown quality starts in each of his last two outings, but isn't striking anyone out and isn't a good fantasy option outside of NL-only leagues.

    5/9/2014 9:51:00 PM
Description: Rockies right-hander Jhoulys Chacin's second start of the season went much better than his first.
Insight: Chacin gave up four hits and two runs in six innings Friday at Cincinnati after allowing eight hits, five walks and four runs in five innings on May 4 against the Mets. Chacin missed all of April due to a shoulder strain.

    5/4/2014 7:41:00 PM
Description: The Mets had eight hits, five walks and four runs in five innings against Rockies starter Jhoulys Chacin on Sunday.
Insight: Chacin was making his first start of the season after sitting out the first five weeks with a strained shoulder. He went 14-10 with a 3.47 ERA in 31 starts for the Rockies in 2013.

    5/4/2014 2:30:00 PM
Description: Rockies right-hander Jhoulys Chacin has been activated from the 15-day DL. He'll start Sunday against the Mets.
Insight: He's making his first start of the season after sitting out the first five weeks with a strained shoulder. Chacin went 14-10 with a 3.47 ERA in 31 starts for the Rockies in 2013.

    4/30/2014 6:50:00 PM
Description: Colorado starter Jhoulys Chacin (shoulder) is likely to start Sunday against the Mets, according to the Denver Post. He'll take Tyler Chawood's spot in the rotation after Chatwood was placed on the DL Wednesday with an elbow strain.
Insight: Chacin has been working his way back from a shoulder strain since spring training. He logged an impressive 3.47 ERA last season though he was a completely different pitcher on the road (2.44 ERA in 81 IP) than he was at home (4.18 ERA in 116 1/3 IP).

    4/23/2014 10:34:00 AM
Description: Colorado starter Jhoulys Chacin could be activated from the disabled list as early as April 29th. SOURCE: Denver Post
Insight: He's been in the minors rehabbing a shoulder strain. Chacin logged an impressive 3.47 ERA last season though he was a completely different pitcher on the road (2.44 ERA in 81 IP) than he was at home (4.18 ERA in 116 1/3 IP).

    3/28/2014 8:17:00 PM
Description: Rockies right-hander Jhoulys Chacin (shoulder) will throw a 50-pitch bullpen session using all his pitches Friday, according to Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post.
Insight: He was shut down in late February with a right shoulder strain and inflammation, but he said Friday that he feels "perfect." Chacin went 14-10 with a 3.47 ERA last season, but it's going to be extremely difficult for him to duplicate his rate of 0.50 HR/9 while pitching half his games at Coors Field. He'll rejoin the Rockies in May.

    3/11/2014 8:26:00 PM
Description: Rockies right-hander Jhoulys Chacin (shoulder) almost certainly will begin the season on the diabled list, according to Thomas Harding of mlb.com. However, he has been progressing steadily and will throw from 120 feet Wednesday.
Insight: He was shut down in late February with a right shoulder strain and inflammation. Chacin went 14-10 with a 3.47 ERA last season, but it's going to be extremely difficult for him to duplicate his rate of 0.50 HR/9 while pitching half his games at Coors Field. His career HR/9 is 0.77. The injury gives fantasy owners another reason to proceed with caution.

    2/28/2014 7:58:00 PM
Description: Rockies right-hander Jhoulys Chacin (shoulder) will resume light throwing in a few days, according to Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post.
Insight: He was shut down three days ago for at least a week due to a right shoulder strain and inflammation.

    2/25/2014 4:38:00 PM
Description: Rockies right-hander Jhoulys Chacin will be shut down for at least one week due to a right shoulder strain and inflammation.
Insight: Chacin went 14-10 with a 3.47 ERA last season, but it's going to be extremely difficult for him to duplicate his rate of 0.50 HR/9 while pitching half his games at Coors Field. His career HR/9 is 0.77. The injury gives fantasy owners another reason to proceed with caution.

    2/23/2014 4:46:00 PM
Description: Rockies right-hander Jhoulys Chacin will undergo an MRI on his throwing shoulder to check out some inflammation on Monday.
Insight: Chacin went 14-10 last season, but it's going to be extremely difficult for him to duplicate his rate of 0.50 HR/9 while pitching half his games at Coors Field. His career HR/9 is 0.77. He only gave up 0.46 HR/9 at home last season after serving up 0.83 in his first four seasons.

    8/29/2013 10:44:00 AM
Description: Rockies right-hander Jhoulys Chacin has won two consecutive starts with a 1.29 ERA.
Insight: Chacin gave up just one hit and one run (unearned) over seven innings while striking out nine Wednesday in a win over the Giants. He went 4-2 with a 1.91 ERA in August and is 13-7 with a 3.08 ERA this season. It's has been a nice bounce-back year for Chacin following an injury-plagued 2012.

    7/28/2013 10:15:00 PM
Description: Rockies starter Jhoulys Chacin made his scheduled start Sunday despite a sore groin and allowed three runs on eight hits in seven innings.
Insight: Chacin was in line for the win, but Matt Belisle gave up the lead in the eighth. The homer Chacin gave up Sunday was just his fourth of the season. It seems impossible that he'll sustain a 3.4 percent HR/FB all season, especially when he pitches at Coors Field.
