Description: The Braves are calling Kris Medlen's injury a forearm strain, according to David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Medlen left Sunday's spring training start with the injury. He'll still need an MRI to determine the extent of his injury.
Insight: Medlen grabbed his elbow after throwing his next-to-last pitch, then hopped off the mound toward the dugout immediately after the next one. He's not out of the woods yet, as forearm soreness can sometimes be indicative of a problem with the elbow. Medlen already has one Tommy John surgery under his belt, which came back in August 2010.

Description: Braves starter Kris Medlen looked like a fantasy ace last season, but he is just 6-10 with a 3.78 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP after losing Tuesday's game to the Mets.
Insight: Medlen has allowed 55 hits in just 40 2/3 innings and posted a 5.53 ERA over his last seven starts. He's in jeopardy of being demoted to the bullpen when Brandon Beachy returns from his Tommy John rehab because he is underperforming and already has bullpen experience.

6/11/2013 2:00:00 PM
Description: Righthander Kris Medlen has not been producing like he did last season and the Braves may be considering sending him to the bullpen when Brandon Beachy (on rehab) is ready to return to the rotation.
Insight: Medlen has a respectable 2.87 ERA, but nothing compared to last season when he went 10-1 with a 1.57 ERA and 0.913 WHIP. Medlen's fantasy value would be almost non-existent in the Braves bullpen.
