National League Game Summary - Los Angeles at Arizona

    (Saturday, April 12th)

Final Score: Los Angeles 8, Arizona 5

Phoenix, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Adrian Gonzalez homered for the third straight game and Zack Greinke spun 5 1/3 efficient frames, as the Los Angeles Dodgers downed the Arizona Diamondbacks, 8-5, on Saturday in the middle tilt of a three-game series from Chase Field.

After hitting a two-run homer and driving in five runs during Friday's series opening win, Gonzalez launched another two-run blast and finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored to help the Dodgers claim their fourth win in five games.

Juan Uribe registered three hits, two RBI and a run scored, while Greinke (3-0) held Arizona to just one run on eight hits with eight strikeouts to remain unbeaten on the season.

A.J. Pollock clubbed a pinch-hit, solo home run in the fifth and Mark Trumbo added a two-run double in the ninth for Arizona, which saw starter Wade Miley (2-2) allow five runs on eight hits and three walks over five innings to absorb the loss.

"He had no command at all," Arizona manager Kirk Gibson said of Miley. "He just had no feel for the strike zone. His mechanics were not good. He just wasn't comfortable the whole five innings he was out there. He didn't give us what we needed."

The Dodgers struck first in the second inning, when Gonzalez worked a leadoff walk and Scott Van Slyke slugged a double before both runners scored on Uribe's single to right to make it 2-0 LA.

Gonzalez extended the margin in the third, belting a two-out blast to left to score Yasiel Puig, who led off the frame with a single.

LA tacked on another two-out run in the fourth, as Puig punched a single to center to plate Justin Turner. Turner started the inning with a double to left before scoring on Puig's base hit for a 5-0 lead.

Arizona finally broke through in the fifth, when Pollock, pinch-hitting for Miley, led off with a blast to center, bringing the home team within 5-1.

The Diamondbacks put runners on the corners with two outs later in the fifth, but Greinke fanned Miguel Montero to end the inning.

"I got out of some tough jams which was the key," Greinke remarked. "A bad pitch at the wrong time could have changed a lot. It wasn't perfect but a lot of good pitches when it was needed."

LA got the run right back in the sixth, as Drew Butera worked a leadoff walk, moved to second on Greinke's bunt and scored two batters later when Matt Kemp reached on Martin Prado's fielding error.

In the eighth, Hanley Ramirez walked with the bases loaded to give the Dodgers a 7-1 lead, but Cliff Pennington responded with an RBI single in the bottom of the frame to trim the margin back to five.

Andre Ethier added a pinch-hit groundout in the ninth to score Uribe before Arizona made things interesting against Brandon League in the home half of the frame.

The Diamondbacks loaded the bases with one out thanks to a single, a hit by pitch and a walk before Montero smacked a sacrifice fly to center to bring Arizona within 8-3.

Mark Trumbo then laced a double into the gap in left-center to plate a pair and trim the margin to three, but closer Kenley Jansen entered from the bullpen and fanned Gerardo Parra on four pitches to nail down his third save of the season.

    Game Notes

Greinke has gone 10-1 in his last 14 starts since Aug. 5, 2013 ... The Dodgers have won all four meetings with the Diamondbacks this season ... Gonzalez has a hit in eight straight games and an extra-base hit in seven in a row... Arizona went 3-for-14 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.
