Final Score: Chicago 6, Cincinnati 4 (12 innings)

Cincinnati, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Luis Valbuena's two-run triple in the top of the 12th inning lifted the Chicago Cubs over the Cincinnati Reds, 6-4, on Thursday afternoon at Great American Ball Park. Arismendy Alcantara, in his second big league game, went 4-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored for the Cubs, who salvaged the finale of this five-game set and ended and six- game slide. Starlin Castro added a pair of RBI for Chicago, which went 5-6 on its 11-game road trip. Ryan Ludwick went 3-for-6 with a homer and two RBI for the Reds, who blew a three-run lead and saw a five-game win streak come to a halt. No other Cincinnati player had multiple hits in a game that saw the Reds lose another starter and tempers flare before a dramatic end for the Cubs.

Final Score: Philadelphia 9, Milwaukee 1

Milwaukee, WI (SportsNetwork.com) - Jimmy Rollins broke up Matt Garza's no- hitter in the seventh inning and put the Phillies in front with a two-run single in the eighth, as Philadelphia rallied for a 9-1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers to complete a four-game sweep at Miller Park. The Phillies trailed 1-0 through seven innings but put up a seven-spot in the eighth to pull away. Cameron Rupp doubled with one out and was replaced by pinch-runner Ben Revere before Cesar Hernandez walked to put the go-ahead run on base. Tony Gwynn Jr. advanced the runners with a grounder to third, and Garza was replaced on the mound by Will Smith. Rollins greeted the lefty specialist with a liner into right that scored both runners without a throw. After Chase Utley walked, Ryan Howard went the opposite way with an RBI ground-rule double to left. Marlon Byrd was then walked intentionally to load the bases for Cody Asche, who plated two more runs with his double over Ryan Braun's head in right for a 5-1 lead. Domonic Brown's two-run single up the middle put the finishing touches on the inning. Howard added a two- run homer in the ninth to make it 9-1. The seven runs in the eighth were the most the Phillies scored in any inning this season.

Final Score: Oakland 6, San Francisco 1

San Francisco, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Scott Kazmir justified his All-Star selection by firing seven scoreless innings, while Stephen Vogt knocked in three runs at the plate in the Oakland Athletics' 6-1 victory over the San Francisco Giants. Josh Donaldson added a two-run homer as part of a 2-for-3 day that helped the Athletics close out the home-and-home Bay Bridge Series with wins in three of the four matchups. Vogt, Brandon Moss and John Jaso also finished with a pair of hits. Kazmir (11-3) only allowed three hits and a walk while racking up nine strikeouts in an outstanding final appearance before Tuesday's Midsummer Classic in Minneapolis. Tim Hudson (7-6) wasn't nearly as sharp for San Francisco, with the onetime Oakland standout rocked for six runs and nine hits over 5 1/3 innings to drop a fourth consecutive decision.
