Datsyuk nearing return

Pavel Datsyuk had been injured and missed Detroit's last two games.
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Detroit Red Wings centerman Pavel Datsyuk was back and skating with linemates Henrik Zetterberg and Tomas Holmstrom in Monday's practice. That's great news for fantasy owners.

Datsyuk had been injured and missed Detroit's last two games.

Datsyuk is a star, coming off back-to-back 97-points seasons and hopefully, he will get untracked soon. He's started the season slowly with just two assists and a -1 plus/minus rating in five games.

Zetterberg didn't suffer too badly in his absence with a goal and two assists in the two games, but Holmstrom has just one point over that time and the team went 1-1.

The 31-year-old Datsyuk was likely a first-round selection in most leagues (ADP 10, but went seventh in my league) and you can't afford to have him struggle too much early on. Last year Datsyuk started quickly with nine points in the team's first eight games.

The Red Wings are scheduled to play at Phoenix on Thursday and you certainly hope he gets back for that game. Last year, Datsyuk totaled seven points in four games against Phoenix and in 26 career games against the Coyotes has 10 goals and 30 assists for 40 points.
