Fantasy Position Rankings - Tight Ends
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - It is extremely rare to start a player with confidence against the Seahawks defense. Denver's Julius Thomas is also an extremely rare tight end.

With the performance Antonio Gates had against Seattle, Thomas owners should not hesitate plugging the Broncos tight end into the lineup. Even in the blowout last February, Denver passed for 280 yards, so even if it turns lopsided again, the way Thomas is rolling right now, he should accumulate the targets and yardage.

Carolina tight end Greg Olson has quietly become a strong TE1 even in smaller leagues. Olson is one of only three tight ends with at least six receptions and 70 yards in each of the first two weeks this year (Jimmy Graham and Gates the others).

The Steelers, the Panthers Week 3 opponent, have allowed the seventh-most receiving yards to opposing tight ends so far and yielded two touchdowns to backup Ravens tight end Owen Daniels in Week 2.

St. Louis tight end Jared Cook also has a very friendly matchup against Dallas. The Cowboys have allowed the second-most yards to opposing tight ends in the first two games. Cook might even be available on the waiver wire this week.

Other top tight ends, Vernon Davis, Jordan Cameron and Jordan Reed, have been hindered with injuries. Their positions on our rankings for Week 3 assume they each will be in the lineup. Keep in mind, however, that even if they play, the tight ends will likely not be 100 percent.

In Reed's case, it would probably be a better idea just to roll with backup Niles Paul, who had eight catches for 99 yards and a touchdown last week in Washington's victory over Jacksonville.
