Jefferson playing like fantasy All-Star

Through 50 games Al Jefferson has 30 double-doubles
and has failed to reach the 20-point mark just 11 times.
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - He won't be in Phoenix next weekend for the NBA All-Star festivities, but in the fantasy world, Al Jefferson is not only an All-Star, but All-World.

Through Sunday's 25-point, 14-rebound performance in New Orleans, the 6'10" forward is averaging 23.1 ppg, 11.0 rpg, 1.6 apg and 1.7 bpg. Even more important has been his consistency. Through 50 games, Jefferson has 30 double-doubles and has failed to reach the 20-point mark just 11 times.

Those numbers compare favorable to any forward in the NBA and certainly are the equal to the five forwards selected for the Western Conference All-Stars - Tim Duncan, Amare Stoudemire, Dirk Nowitzki, Pau Gasol and David West.

Now, unfortunately, the bad news.

Late in Sunday's game, Jefferson left the court with an apparent knee injury.

"I hope (it's not a serious injury)," Jefferson said after the game. "I don't want to think about it until I get my X-ray tomorrow. I felt a pop."

The last sentence in the quote is the scary one for his fantasy owners.

On the other hand, it might be an opportunity for rookie Kevin Love, who was installed into the starting lineup a couple of games ago. Love has struggled a little with the first team, not getting off as many shots as when he came off the bench, but if Jefferson is out of action for any length of time, Love would have to do the bulk of the rebounding for the Timberwolves.

Love is owned in about 75% of the leagues, meaning there is still a one-in-four chance that you can pick him up today.
