Making a mountain out of Toronto's Hill

Aaron Hill has been consistent "power-wise" through the first three months of the season.
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Quick, which second baseman has hit the most homers and knocked in the most runs so far in 2009 - Ian Kinsler, Chase Utley, Dan Uggla, Brandon Phillips or Aaron Hill?

Obviously, from the title of this piece, you know that the answer is Hill.

Hill has rebounded from an off year in 2008 (played just 55 games due to a lingering concussion), to become a leading candidate for the 2009 TSN "Best Bargain Award" at the second base position. He was likely not even selected on Draft Day as his preseason Average Draft Position (ADP) of 288 made him somewhere near the 30th-best second baseman on your list - if you even bothered to chart them that far down.

But while some players have let you down, through injury or poor play (read Dustin Pedroia, Rickie Weeks, Jose Lopez), Hill has been a pleasant surprise.

Hill is batting .305 with 48 runs scored, 19 HRs, 56 RBI, seven SBs and has an OPS of .856. Those numbers put him in the same neighborhood as Utley (ADP 10) and Kinsler (ADP 12) who were likely drafted at the end of your first round.

The Toronto Blue Jays second baseman has been pretty consistent "power-wise" through the first three months of the season, although his batting average has dropped a bit in June as teams have begun to pitch him more carefully.

Still, it looks like a "career year" in the makings and if Hill was on my roster I'd play him everyday without any thoughts of trading him.
