DeMarco Murray, RB12/28/2014 12:04:00 PM
Description: Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray (hand) is active for Week 17 and is expected to work a normal game.
Insight: Murray rushed 22 times for 58 yards and a touchdown last weekend and could play an entire game if things fall right on the scoreboard. he could also sit it they have no chance to get a first-round bye.
Terrance Williams, WR12/22/2014 10:17:00 AM
Description: Cowboys receiver Terrance Williams a nom-factor of late, caught two touchdown passes.
Insight: It was Williams' first double-digit game since Week 5. Cole Beasley had been much more active until this game.
Jason Witten, TE12/22/2014 10:15:00 AM
Description: Cowboys tight end Jason Witten caught seven of a team-high seven targets for 90 yards and a touchdown.
Insight: It's no surprise that the passing game has picked up the past few weeks when Tony Romo has gone back to his reliable tight end.
Dez Bryant, WRHot12/22/2014 10:13:00 AM
Description: Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant wasn't needed often in this blowout win over the Colts, but his 19-yard touchdown catch helpd blow the game open.
Insight: Bryant can't be guarded by just defensive back. He caught all five balls for 73 yards and a score. Too bad the game wasn't closer so he could post bigger fantasy numbers.
Tony Romo, QB12/22/2014 10:12:00 AM
Description: Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo came through with a division title on the line, going 18-of-20 for 218 yards and four touchdowns.
Insight: With a questionable DeMarco Murray (hand), Romo picked the perfect time for be nearly perfect. Cowboys fans will finally get to taste the playoffs. Fantasy owners liked it too.
DeMarco Murray, RB12/22/2014 10:09:00 AM
Description: Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray (hand) was active for Week 16 and played like normal until Dallas put the game out of reach in the third quarter.
Insight: Murray rushed 22 times for 58 yards and a touchdown. No, he didn't catch any passes, but it wasn't needed in the rout of Indianapolis.
DeMarco Murray, RB12/21/2014 3:20:00 PM
Description: Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray (hand) is active for Week 16.
Insight: That also means you have to start him, given he's been the best running back in the league all season, and hope he gives you a full 60 minutes.
DeMarco Murray, RB12/19/2014 2:13:00 PM
Description: Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray (hand) will make the decision to play or sit, according to Adam Schefter.
Insight: If that's the deciding factor, you can expect Murray to play. That also means you have to start him, given he's been the best running back in the league all season, and hope he gives you a full 60 minutes.
DeMarco Murray, RB12/17/2014 12:47:00 PM
Description: Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray (hand) practiced on Wednesday.
Insight: He did all the individual drills and caught passes out of the backfield. Murray is shaping up to suit up, but there is a chance he will be limited. Stay tuned.
DeMarco Murray, RB12/16/2014 11:46:00 AM
Description: Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray underwent surgery on Monday to repair a broken band in his left hand, but the feeling in Dallas is he can play in Week 16, according to an Ed Werder report.
Insight: Joseph Randle and Lance Dunbar would likely form a committee if Murray is unable to play against the Colts, but obviously neither would produce at Murray's level.
DeMarco Murray, RB12/15/2014 4:32:00 PM
Description: Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray underwent surgery on Monday to repair a broken band in his left hand.
Insight: Wow. This seemingly came out of nowhere, however Murray's status is still unknown for the Week 16. The injury is being reported as minor, and may he may only need to miss one game, if any. Yet, this is not what owners want to hear heading into the Championship round. Joseph Randle and Lance Dunbar would likely form a committee if Murray is unable to play against the Colts.
Cole Beasley, WR12/15/2014 9:42:00 AM
Description: Cowboys wideout Cole Beasley didn't produce very good fantasy numbers against the Eagles, catching four balls for 42 yards.
Insight: Beasley is still the second wideout option in Dallas, ahead of Terrance Williams, but both Dez Bryant and tight end Jason Witten get most of Romo's targets.
Jason Witten, TE12/15/2014 9:36:00 AM
Description: Cowboys tight end Jason Witten caught seven of a team-high nine targets for 69 yards.
Insight: While he didn't get into the end zone, Witten was busy catching key first down passes for most of the night.
Dez Bryant, WRHot12/15/2014 9:31:00 AM
Description: Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant was wide open all night and toasted the Eagles secondary for three scores and 114 yards.
Insight: The Eagles tried to cover him man-to-man with Bradley Fletcher and that just didn't work. Bryant has tied career-high with 13 touchdowns and should set a new mark with the remaining two games against Indianapolis and Washington.
DeMarco Murray, RB12/15/2014 9:28:00 AM
Description: Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray had a rough night averaging just 2.6 ypc on 31 tries, but scored twice.
Insight: Murray only broke through the line a few times, but his scores saved the night for fantasy owners.
Tony Romo, QB12/15/2014 9:25:00 AM
Description: Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo featured Dez Bryant and Jason Witten and he posted solid numbers against the Eagles.
Insight: Witten made the first downs and Bryant scored three times as Romo racked up 265 yards and three touchdowns. He looked much healthier than he did the last times these two teams met on Thanksgiving Day.
Terrance Williams, WRCold12/5/2014 9:36:00 AM
Description: Cowboys receiver Terrance Williams (finger) has now been a non-factor over the past four games after being shut out in Chicago.
Insight: Cole Beasley (3-42-2) has been much more active and a better low-end fantasy option.
Jason Witten, TECold12/5/2014 9:36:00 AM
Description: Cowboys tight end Jason Witten was held to two catch for 26 yards against the Bears
Insight: Witten was facing the league's worst team against opposing tight ends, but didn't take advantage, seeing just three targets. After a solid middle portion of the schedule, Witten is back in his early season funk.
Cole Beasley, WRHot12/5/2014 9:34:00 AM
Description: Cowboys wideout Cole Beasley caught two touchdown passes against Chicago.
Insight: Beasley has three touchdown receptions in the last three games and has become the second wideout option in Dallas, ahead of Terrance Williams.
Dez Bryant, WR12/5/2014 9:32:00 AM
Description: Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant was noticably displeased with the conservative second-half play calling.
Insight: Bryant was targeted just eight times in the game, catching six for 82 yards. Given how well DeMarco Murray was running, the play-action pass should have worked better for Bryant and the passing game.
Tony Romo, QB12/5/2014 9:30:00 AM
Description: Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo didn't throw many deep balls, but threw for 205 yards and three scores without an interception.
Insight: You would have thought play action would have worked well the way DeMarco Murray was running the ball, but it appeared the Cowboys game plan was to continue to help Romo protect his back from too many hits. That's not great news for Dez Bryant owners.
DeMarco Murray, RBHot12/5/2014 9:26:00 AM
Description: Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray ran wild against the Bears on Thursday, totaling 179 yards and a touchdown on 32 carries.
Insight: Despite the huge numbers, fantasy owners were likely unhappy that Joseph Randle ran one in after Murray had carried the team on a third-quarter drive.
Terrance Williams, WRCold12/4/2014 1:53:00 PM
Description: Cowboys receiver Terrance Williams (finger) has been a non-factor over the past three games.
Insight: Williams has just three catches for 56 yards over the span and Cole Beasley has been much more active and a better low-end fantasy option.
Tony Romo, QB12/1/2014 5:01:00 PM
Description: Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo (back) practiced in full on Monday.
Insight: He will be ready to roll for Thursday's contest against Chicago.
DeMarco Murray, RB11/27/2014 7:54:00 PM
Description: Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray was held under four yards per carry for the first time all season.
Insight: He had 20 carries for 73 yards and a touchdown, which salvaged his fantasy day. Murray will be an RB1 next week against Chicago.
Jason Witten, TE11/27/2014 7:53:00 PM
Description: Cowboys tight end Jason Witten was held to one catch on Thanksgiving.
Insight: It was for eight yards. Witten had scored during his previous two games, but is more of a TE2 at this point in his career.
Tony Romo, QB11/27/2014 7:52:00 PM
Description: Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo had a rough Thanksgiving Day.
Insight: He threw for only 199 yards, along with two interceptions. Romo was under pressure all day, and it showed, as he was unable to build any kind of rhythm.
Dez Bryant, WR11/27/2014 7:51:00 PM
Description: Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant had four catches for 73 yards in Thursday's loss to the Eagles.
Insight: Bryant could not going all afternoon, which was a result of Dallas' inability to move the ball. He is still a WR1.
Cole Beasley, WR11/24/2014 11:00:00 AM
Description: Cowboys wideout Cole Beasley made to big catches in Dallas' come from behind win over the Giants in Week 12.
Insight: Beasley caught just two balls but one was a 45-yard catch and run that got the team back into the game in the third quarter. It was his first multi-catch game since Week 5, so he's not fantasy worthy despite the nice effort Sunday night.
Terrance Williams, WR11/24/2014 10:57:00 AM
Description: Cowboys receiver Terrance Williams was a non-factor against the Giants Sunday night.
Insight: Williams was targeted just twice, catching one of them for 18 yards and hasn't been part of the offense in a month. Cole Beasley was much more active with two big catches for 66 yards and a score.
Jason Witten, TE11/24/2014 10:54:00 AM
Description: Cowboys tight end Jason Witten caught 4-of-6 targets for 30 yards and a touchdown.
Insight: After failing to score in the first five games, Witten has scored once in four of the last six contests. He's not getting the yards we are used to, but at least he's finding the end zone.
Dez Bryant, WRHot11/24/2014 10:21:00 AM
Description: Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant rebounded from a dull first half with a pair of second-half touchdown receptions, including the game-winner with one minutes remaining.
Insight: Bryant has two touchdown catches in each of the last two games and 10 touchdowns this season along with 879 yards.
Tony Romo, QB11/24/2014 10:18:00 AM
Description: Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo appeared completely healthy and threw for 275 yards and four touchdowns.
Insight: The bye weekend came at the best time for Romo, who comtinues to dominate in November. Now if he can just do the same in December with the fantasy playoffs on the line.
DeMarco Murray, RB11/24/2014 10:15:00 AM
Description: Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray notched another 121 yards on the ground in the rematch against the Giants.
Insight: The only complaint fantasy owners could possibly have is that he hasn't scored since Week 7, but it was his 10th 100-yard game in 11 tries this season.
Tony Romo, QB11/20/2014 1:19:00 PM
Description: Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo returned to practice Thursday after taking Wednesday off.
Insight: The week off was at the perfect time for Romo and his sore back and he will be a QB1 in Giants Stadium.
Jason Witten, TE11/9/2014 6:08:00 PM
Description: Cowboys tight end Jason Witten scored a touchdown Sunday against the Jaguars.
Insight: He had five catches for 33 yards, and is more of a TE2 at this point in his career.
Dez Bryant, WR11/9/2014 6:07:00 PM
Description: Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant had a monster day in Week 10's win against Jacksonville.
Insight: He had six receptions for 158 yards and two touchdowns, on eight targets. Bryant showed why he is one of the best pass-catchers in the NFL.
DeMarco Murray, RB11/9/2014 6:04:00 PM
Description: Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray notched 100 yards on the ground, yet again.
Insight: He did so on 19 carries, and also chipped in six catches for 31 yards. Murray is the top running back in the league, in 2014.
Tony Romo, QB11/9/2014 6:02:00 PM
Description: Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo played very well in his return to action.
Insight: He was 20-of-27 for 246 yards and three touchdowns. Romo showed no ill-effects of the sore back, and will be a QB1 when Dallas comes out of their bye in Week 12.
DeMarco Murray, RB11/9/2014 3:42:00 PM
Description: Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray left the field shaking the cobwebs out of his head after a run for a yard early in the fourth quarter.
Insight: Given that the game is in complete control we didn't think he would return, but he did and rushed for one yard giving him 100 on the day. He also caught six balls for 31 yards.
DeMarco Murray, RB11/9/2014 3:36:00 PM
Description: Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray left the field shaking the cobwebs out of his head after a run for a yard early in the fourth quarter.
Insight: Given that the game is in complete control we doubt we will see him agains today. That's bad news for fantasy owners as he has 99 yards rushing and won't earn bonus points. he also caught five balls for 32 yards.
Tony Romo, QB11/9/2014 12:05:00 PM
Description: Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo (back) is active for Sunday's game against Jacksonville.
Insight: Though it might we wiser in the long-term to let Romo sit until after the Week 11 bye. Before the injury in the Washington game, Romo had thrown two or more touchdown passes in five consecutive games and he's thrown at least one in every game this season. The Cowboys may run the ball more than usual.
Tony Romo, QB11/7/2014 9:39:00 AM
Description: Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo (back) practiced again on Friday and fantasy owners should expect him to give it a go on Sunday.
Insight: Though it might we wiser in the long-term to let Romo sit until after the Week 11 bye, we now expect him to suit up and play against Jacksonville. Before the injury in the Washington game, Romo had thrown two or more touchdown passes in five consecutive games and he's thrown at least one in every game this season.
Tony Romo, QB11/6/2014 8:59:00 AM
Description: Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo (back) was on the practice field Thursday, according to David Moore of the Dallas Morning News.
Insight: This is great news not only for Romo's owners, but for the rest of the offense as well, in particular DeMarco Murray. Just Romo's presence should open up running lanes for Murray. Though it might we wiser in the long-term to let Romo sit until after the Week 11 bye, we now expect him to suit up and play against Jacksonville.
Tony Romo, QB11/5/2014 10:53:00 AM
Description: Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo (back) did not practice on Wednesday.
Insight: This was expected, as we should know more about Romo's status later in the week. Owners should consider him a game-time decision for now.
Jason Witten, TE11/2/2014 5:30:00 PM
Description: Cowboys tight end Jason Witten led the team with six catches and 62 yards on Sunday.
Insight: Ironically, Witten had a pretty decent fantasy day when the Cowboys offense did basically nothing. Witten has struggled this season, so six receptions for 62 yards is the one of the tight ends' better games.
Terrance Williams, WR11/2/2014 5:25:00 PM
Description: Cowboys receiver Terrance Williams did virtually nothing with Brandon Weeden under center in Week 9.
Insight: No one played well for the Dallas offense. Williams received seven targets, but caught just two of them for 19 yards.
Dez Bryant, WR11/2/2014 5:22:00 PM
Description: Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant nearly took a zero in Week 9.
Insight: Bryant was held without a catch until about two minutes left in the game. He finished with two grabs and a touchdown to earn a respectable fantasy day. Even with Brandon Weeden under center, Bryant owners expected much more.
DeMarco Murray, RB11/2/2014 5:17:00 PM
Description: Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray had his worst rushing game of the season.
Insight: He gained just 79 yards on 19 carries. The entire Dallas offense underperformed with no Tony Romo under center. Murray will look to bounce back with 100 yards against the Jaguars in London next week.
Brandon Weeden, QB11/2/2014 5:11:00 PM
Description: Owners that gave Brandon Weeden a spot start were greatly disappointed with the quarterback's play in Week 9.
Insight: Weeden was 18-for-33 with 183 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. The one touchdown did not come until garbage time. The Cowboys could not move the ball at all, so hopefully Tony Romo returns in Week 10. Dallas is in London next week and then has a bye, so it is tough to determine whether Romo will be rushed back because of this poor performance from Weeden or whether the team will give him additional rest.
Brandon Weeden, QB11/2/2014 11:51:00 AM
Description: As expected, Brandon Weeden will start in Week 9 against the Cardinals.
Insight: Weeden took all the first-team reps this week, and in a pinch, is a viable fantasy option because of the talent around him. This will be Weeden's first start since Dec. 1, 2013. Weeden has not won a start since December of 2012.
Brandon Weeden, QB11/2/2014 9:46:00 AM
Description: Brandon Weeden will start Week 9 against Arizona for the Dallas Cowboys as numerous sources are reporting Romo has made the decision to sit due to his back injury.
Insight: Weeden took all the first-team reps this week and could be a viable fantasy option with plenty of surrounding talent in Dez Bryant, Terrance Williams and Jason Witten. And play action should work well with the league's best running back behind him.
Tony Romo, QB11/2/2014 9:38:00 AM
Description: NFL Network's Desmond Purnell is reporting Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo (back) will not play Sunday against the Cardinals.
Insight: Brandon Weeden has been taking all the first-team reps this week, and will get his first start in a Cowboys' uniform. Weadon has plenty of weapons so he could be a viable fantasy option. Romo could return against Jacksonville, though that's a game they can probably win without him if needed.
Tony Romo, QB11/1/2014 9:55:00 AM
Description: Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo (back) will be part of Dallas' walkthrough on Saturday.
Insight: This will be done to see how Romo feels, but consider him extremely questionable for Sunday against Arizona. Brandon Weeden has been taking all the first-team reps this week, and will get his first start in a Cowboys' uniform, if Romo is unable to go.
Sean Lee, LB10/31/2014 3:57:00 PM
Description: The Cowboys are planning to move linebacker Sean Lee to the weak-side in 2015, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
Insight: This has no effect on this season, as Lee is out for the year with a torn left ACL. However the hope is that MLB Rolando McClain continues his strong play, allowing Dallas to move their star, but injury-prone linebacker to the oustide.
Brandon Weeden, QB10/31/2014 2:25:00 PM
Description: Brandon Weeden has a very good chance of starting Week 9 against Arizona.
Insight: Tony Romo hasn't practiced all week and at best is a game-time decision. The Cardinals are yielding 302 ypg through the air and Weeden could be a viable fantasy option if he gets the start.
Tony Romo, QB10/31/2014 2:23:00 PM
Description: Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has missed all three practices this week, but remains a game-time decision.
Insight: I wouldn't wait on this one. The Cowboys would be better off allowing Romo to get better and start Brandon Weeden. Weeden will have all his weapons and could be a low end fantasy asset.
Bruce Carter, LB10/30/2014 4:04:00 PM
Description: Cowboys linebacker Bruce Carter has a broken left ring finger, but is expected to play with a splint, according to Dallas beat reporter Todd Archer.
Insight: Carter just returned from a quad injury that cost him three games.
Tony Romo, QB10/29/2014 10:59:00 AM
Description: Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is calling quarterback Tony Romo a game-time decision according to ESPN's Ed Werner.
Insight: Werner also added Romo will sit out all practices this week and could miss some time, 1-to-2 games. That is enough for fantasy owners to want to pick up another quarterback, just in case, Brandon Weeden will start in place of Romo.
Tony Romo, QB10/28/2014 4:32:00 PM
Description: Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said Tony Romo's back injury is not related to the back issue he had at the end of the 2013 season.
Insight: That is encouraging news, but the Cowboys are still waiting for the MRI results. Fantasy owners will collectively hold their breathe until then. We will have a much better idea of Romo's status for Week 9 in about a day or so.
Tony Romo, QB10/27/2014 11:36:00 PM
Description: Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo left Monday Night's game against the Redskins. UPDATE: Romo returned to the game for the last drive of the fourth quarter and overtime.
Insight: Washington sacked Romo for the fourth time early in the third quarter. Romo took the brunt of the hit in his back. The Dallas quarterback had surgery on his back in the offseason. Romo's status is unknown, and the Cowboys turn to Brandon Weeden.
Dez Bryant, WR10/25/2014 4:41:00 PM
Description: Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant is probable for Monday night against the Redskins.
Insight: He is a must-start every week, but especially in Week 8. Bryant is matched up with rookie cornerback Bashaud Breeland of Washington. He should have a huge week.
Joseph Randle, RB10/22/2014 10:19:00 AM
Description: Cowboys backup running back Joseph Randle saw 13 carries for 37 yards and caught one ball for seven yards.
Insight: Those who took a chance that Randle would play more than Demarco Murray lost the gamble.
Jason Witten, TECold10/20/2014 10:04:00 AM
Description: Cowboys tight end Jason Witten continues to be ignored in the Dallas offensive game plans.
Insight: Witten was targeted just twice against the Giants. The Cowboys did hit backup tight end Gavin Escobar for two touchdowns. Those used to go to Witten. It's time to move on from the two-time All-Pro.
Gavin Escobar, TE10/20/2014 10:03:00 AM
Description: For the first time this season Cowboys backup tight end Gavin Escobar produced fantasy worthy statistics.
Insight: Escobar caught three balls for 65 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He'll have to do it more than once before we declare him fantasy worthy, but its a start.
Terrance Williams, WR10/20/2014 10:03:00 AM
Description: Cowboys receiver Terrance Williams was once again ignored for most of the game, but did manage to score to give his fantasy owners a respectable total.
Insight: Williams has scored in five of seven games this season which makes up for the fact that he's failed to crack 80 yards receiving in any game this season.
Dez Bryant, WR10/20/2014 10:00:00 AM
Description: Cowboys wideout Dez Bryant caught nine balls for 151 yards, but did get into the end zone.
Insight: It was a great comeback for fantasy owners considering he had just two receptions for 15 yards at halftime. After scoring in four consecutive games, Bryant has now gone two games without a touchdown catch.
Tony Romo, QB10/20/2014 9:55:00 AM
Description: Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was efficient, throwing just 23 times, but racking up 279 yards and three touchdowns against one interception.
Insight: The 23 passing attempts ties for his low of the season. Romo has thrown for two or more touchdowns in five straight games and continues to be a solid fantasy option.
DeMarco Murray, RBHot10/20/2014 9:52:00 AM
Description: Anther game, another 100-yard day and a touchdowns for Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray.
Insight: He's posted seven consecutive 100-yard games and scored in six of the seven. He's the top fantasy running back through seven games and the only worry for fantasy owners is the heavy workload. He's on pace for 427 rushing attempts and 477 touches.
DeMarco Murray, RBHot10/17/2014 4:08:00 PM
Description: Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray missed Wednesday's practice but practiced in full Thursday and Friday and is ready to go.
Insight: Considering his workload the first six games, he just needed the extra day off. The last person to start the season with six consecutive 100-yard games was the great Jim Brown. Murray has also scored in five of the six contests. He's the top fantasy running back through six games and will be in Week 7 against the Giants.
DeMarco Murray, RBHot10/16/2014 12:42:00 PM
Description: Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray missed Wednesday's practice due to illness, but was back taking his regular reps on Thursday.
Insight: Considering his workload the first six games, he might just have needed the day off. The last person to start the season with six consecutive 100-yard games was the great Jim Brown. Murray has also scored in five of the six contests. He's the top fantasy running back through six games.
Joseph Randle, RB10/14/2014 8:54:00 PM
Description: The Dallas Morning News reports the Cowboys do not plan to suspend running back Joseph Randle for his shoplifting arrest.
Insight: Randle will be fined between $10,000 and $30,000. Fantasy owners will likely not want to touch Randle this week, but since he is not going to miss any games, owners should consider picking him up. Randle is the handcuff for the overworked DeMarco Murray, who has not played an entire 16-game season in his career.
Joseph Randle, RB10/14/2014 12:06:00 PM
Description: Cowboys beat writer Clarence Hill reports second-year running back Joseph Randle was arrested for shoplifting Monday night.
Insight: Randle is Demarco Murray's backup and has rushed 16 times for 113 yards this season. Hard to understand given his half-million dollar salary.
Doug Free, OT10/14/2014 11:53:00 AM
Description: Dallas right tackle Doug Free is expected to miss 3-4 weeks, according to owner/GM Jerry Jones.
Insight: The Cowboys offensive line has been one of their strong points this season as reflected in DeMarco Murray's league-leading rushing total. This will hurt as undrafted free agent Jermey Parnell is likely to start in his absence.
Jason Witten, TE10/13/2014 5:45:00 PM
Description: Cowboys tight end Jason Witten scored his first touchdown of 2014.
Insight: That was the highlight of the day for Witten, as he totaled only two receptions for 24 yards. While Witten is valuable to the Cowboys' team, he is no more than a TE2 in fantasy football.
Tony Romo, QB10/13/2014 11:48:00 AM
Description: Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo took a big hit in the first quarter and may have a rib problem moving forward.
Insight: Romo didn't miss a play, but we will see how he feels in the morning. He went 21-of-32 for 250 yards and two tochdowns as the Cowboys upset the Seahawks in Seattle.
Terrance Williams, WR10/13/2014 10:16:00 AM
Description: Cowboys receiver Terrance Williams saw just two targets, but did turn them into 70 yards.
Insight: Williams didn't score which is just the second time this season that he came up empty. That's not uncommon against the Seahawks secondary.
Dez Bryant, WR10/13/2014 10:15:00 AM
Description: Cowboys wideout Dez Bryant caught just four passes for 63 yards against Seattle.
Insight: Bryant string of four straight games with a touchdown catch came to an end, but he's still a fantasy stud.
DeMarco Murray, RBHot10/13/2014 10:12:00 AM
Description: Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray rushed for over 100 yards for a sixth straight game.
Insight: The last person to start the season with six consecutive 100-yard games was the great Jim Brown. Murray has also scored in five of the six contests. He's the top fantasy running back through six games.
Dez Bryant, WR10/5/2014 6:24:00 PM
Description: Cowboys wideout Dez Bryant caught nine passes for 85 yards and a touchdown on Sunday against the Texans.
Insight: Bryant has a touchdown in four straight games now since the debacle against San Francisco. Bryant has 32 catches for 376 receiving yards along with his four scores this year.
DeMarco Murray, RBHot10/5/2014 6:15:00 PM
Description: Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray rushed for over 100 yards for a fifth straight game.
Insight: The Texans kept Murray out of the end zone, but he gained 136 yards on the ground and 56 more through the air. Dallas continues to feed Murray the ball as he had an incredible 37 touches. Even with overtime, that is a ton. Hopefully, he lasts the full season.
Dez Bryant, WR9/29/2014 11:09:00 AM
Description: Dallas wideout Dez Bryant was relatively quiet Sunday night, but still managed to post double-digits for his fantasy owners.
Insight: Bryant has scored in three straight games after missing out opening day. He's only cracked the 100-yard mark once, but the team has been balanced on offense with DeMarco Murray leading the way.
Terrance Williams, WR9/29/2014 11:06:00 AM
Description: Cowboys receiver Terrance Williams scored twice Sunday night among his six catches for 77 yards.
Insight: Williams now has four touchdowns catches this season and has scored in three of four games making him a consistent fantasy option.
Tony Romo, QB9/29/2014 11:04:00 AM
Description: Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo played in a beautifully balanced offense and produced solid fantasy totals.
Insight: Romo only passed the ball 29 times, but completed 22, for 262 yards and three scores.
DeMarco Murray, RBHot9/29/2014 11:03:00 AM
Description: Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray continued to be the focal point of the Dallas offense in Week 4 with 149 yards and a pair of rushing touchdowns.
Insight: Murray leads the NFL in rushing attempts (99), rushing yardfs (534) and rushing TDs (5). let's just hope he can hold up under the workload.
Henry Melton, DL9/26/2014 2:08:00 PM
Description: Defensive tackle Henry Melton is not expected to play against Drew brees and the Saints in Week 4, according to beat reporter Bryan Broaddus.
Insight: Melton has played well the past two games, but this just makes life easier for Brees & Co. Brees was already The Sports Network's top ranked QB in Week 4.
Dan Bailey, KHot9/22/2014 1:38:00 PM
Description: Cowboys kicker Dan Bailey has extended his field goal streak to 28.
Insight: Bailey hasn't missed a kick since Week 4 of last season and owns a 91.4 percent career success rate. He's also 7-for-8 at 50 yards or more the past two season. It's hard to be any better than that and he's a top fantasy option.
Terrance Williams, WR9/22/2014 10:10:00 AM
Description: Cowboys receiver Terrance Williams scored for the second time in three games, hauling in a key 12-yard touchdown pass midway through the fourth quarter against the Rams.
Insight: Williams has a total of eight catches on 14 targets for 102 yards and two scores through three games. You can't be a consistent fantasy receiver on 4.6 targets per contest.
Jason Witten, TECold9/22/2014 10:05:00 AM
Description: Cowboys tight end Jason Witten slightly emerged from his slumber, catching four of five passes for 49 yards.
Insight: Still, Witten owners need much more. Witten averaged 6.5 receptions, 53.2 ypg and .5 TDs per game a year ago versus 6.0 receptions, 31.7 ypg and no touchdowns in the first three games this season.
Dez Bryant, WR9/22/2014 9:59:00 AM
Description: Dallas wideout Dez Bryant was active for Week 3 against the Rams, but wasn't doing much until exploding for a huge third-quarter 68-yard touchdown reception.
Insight: There was no defender within 15 yards of Bryant on the play. Other than that one big play, Bryant had a quiet day with five other receptions for 21 yards.
Tony Romo, QB9/22/2014 9:56:00 AM
Description: Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo started slowly against the Rams, including throwing a "pick-six" in the second quarter, but led his team to 34 points from the middle of the second quarter to the end of the game.
Insight: His stats weren't great, but he probably didn't kill you with his 217-yard, two-touchdown, one-interception afternoon. The Cowboys host the Saints and Houston over the next two weekends and Romo has been a much better QB in "Jerry Jones' House."
DeMarco Murray, RBHot9/21/2014 5:43:00 PM
Description: Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray continued to be the focal point of the Dallas offense in Week 3.
Insight: Murray rushed 24 times for 100 yards and a touchdown. That makes 75 carries for 385 yards and three touchdowns in three weeks. Fantasy owners love the production, but part of them is just waiting for Murray, who has a lot of past injuries, to get hurt.
Dez Bryant, WR9/21/2014 11:59:00 AM
Description: Dallas wideout Dez Bryant is active for Week 3 against the Rams.
Insight: This is not a surprise even though the Cowboys limited Bryant in practice this week. Owners should be starting him with flying colors. Dallas defenders Rolando McClain and Anthony Spencer are inactive for Week 3.
Terrance Williams, WR9/16/2014 3:24:00 PM
Description: Cowboys receiver Terrance Williams was unable to build off his Week 1 performance.
Insight: Williams had four catches for 50 yards a score in Week 1, but managed just two receptions for 20 yards on Sunday versus Tennessee. He will continue to be a hit-or-miss fantasy option moving forward.
Jason Witten, TE9/16/2014 3:21:00 PM
Description: Cowboys tight end Jason Witten has gotten off to a lackluster start this season.
Insight: He's managed only six receptions for 46 yards thus far. A lot of that has to do with Romo's inconsistent play. If Dallas' QB is able to get it together, Witten should be able to get back to his career averages. For now however, consider Witten a TE2.
Dez Bryant, WR9/16/2014 3:17:00 PM
Description: Dallas wideout Dez Bryant shook off a shoulder injury, and had a monser game during Sunday's win over the Titans.
Insight: He hauled in 10 of his 14 targets for 103 yards and a touchdown. After a subpar performance in Week 1, Bryant showed why he is a top-5 fantasy WR. He is locked in as a WR1 when Dallas travels to St. Louis for Week 3.
Tony Romo, QB9/16/2014 3:12:00 PM
Description: Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was more of a "game manager" in Sunday's victory over the Titans.
Insight: He was efficient, completing 19 of 29 passes for 176 yards and a score. Romo is still shaking off some rust from missing most of camp, and should get back to being a valuable QB1.
Dez Bryant, WR9/16/2014 11:54:00 AM
Description: Dallas wideout Dez Bryant is active for Week 3 against the Rams.
Insight: This is not a surprise even though the Cowboys limited Bryant in practice this week. Owners should be starting him with flying colors. Dallas defenders Rolando McClain and Anthony Spencer are inactive for Week 3.
DeMarco Murray, RBHot9/14/2014 4:56:00 PM
Description: Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray was at his best today, rushing 29 times for 167 yards and a score.
Insight: Great news for Week 2, but you have to be fearful of the oft-injured Murray seeing 30 touches a game. Jump for joy about the excellent fantasy numbers, but hope for a little better balance next week, so he will survive to help you at fantasy playoff time.
Dez Bryant, WR9/14/2014 4:53:00 PM
Description: Although Dallas star wideout Dez Bryant headed to the locker room to check out a right shoulder injury early in the game, he returned and produced solid numbers (10-103-1).
Insight: Last week it was dehydration. Last year it was a finger. He's a great receiver, but he's always needing attention and scaring fantasy owners with various nicks and bumps.
Dez Bryant, WR9/14/2014 2:08:00 PM
Description: Dallas star wideout Dez Bryant headed to the locker room to check out a right shoulder injury, but has returned.
Insight: Bryant made a diving catch on the first drive and landed on the shoulder. He returned to the game late in the second quarter. fantasy owners can breathe a sigh of relief.
Dez Bryant, WR9/14/2014 1:16:00 PM
Description: Dallas star wideout Dez Bryant is headed to the locker room to check out a right shoulder injury.
Insight: Bryant made a diving catch on the first drive and landed on the shoulder. He was last seen walking to the locker room. He's probable to return.
Dez Bryant, WR9/14/2014 1:09:00 PM
Description: Dallas star wideout Dez Bryant is headed to the locker room to check out a shoulder injury.
Insight: Bryant made a diving catch on the first drive and landed on the shoulder. He was last seen walking to the locker room. We await further word.
Terrance Williams, WR9/12/2014 3:23:00 PM
Description: Cowboys receiver Terrance Williams (bruised back) has been a full participant in practice this week.
Insight: Williams' injury was never considered serious. Williams has upside with every defense concentrating on Dez Bryant.
Tony Romo, QB9/8/2014 12:37:00 PM
Description: Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo threw three interceptions in Week 1 against the 49ers. He finished 23-of-37 with 281 yards and one touchdown to go along witht the interceptions.
Insight: All three of the picks were forced into double and triple coverage and came in the first 20 minutes of the contest. It is clear now that Romo was rusty from not playing and taking the cautious approach in preseason, recovering from his second back surgery in 16 months. At least we hope it is just rust because if not, the Cowboys and Romo fantasy owners are in for a long, long season.
Terrance Williams, WR9/7/2014 3:25:00 PM
Description: Cowboys receiver Terrance Williams (bruised back) is active for Week 1 against the 49ers.
Insight: This is not really a surprise. Williams' injury was never considered serious. Williams is a high-upside WR3 for Week 1 against the 49ers.
Terrance Williams, WR9/4/2014 4:41:00 PM
Description: Cowboys receiver Terrance Williams did not practice on Thursday due to a back issue.
Insight: Williams was fine on Wednesday, so the injury is apparently new, but we do not yet know the severity of it. Williams should be considered questionable until the Cowboys release more details on the injury.
Caleb Hanie, QB8/26/2014 3:32:00 PM
Description: Dallas quarterback Caleb Hanie was released Monday.
Insight: Brandon Weeden is the handcuff for Cowboys starting QB Tony Romo and would be a viable fantasy option if forced into action.
Tony Romo, QB8/23/2014 9:03:00 PM
Description: Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo went 10-for-18 with 87 yards in Saturday's preseason game against the Dolphins.
Insight: Dallas only gained 110 yards in the first half with Romo under center. Most importantly, Romo seemed unaffected by three first half sacks. The quarterback is 14-of-23 for 167 yards and one touchdown this preseason.
DeMarco Murray, RB8/23/2014 8:50:00 PM
Description: Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray played three series in Saturday's preseason game against the Dolphins and rushed for 18 yards on six carries and made one catch for six yards.
Insight: The big question behind Murray is whether he can actually stay on the field this year. In his three year career, he has never played more than 14 games. Behind what should be a powerful Cowboy line this season, Murray could really shine.
Tony Romo, QB8/16/2014 7:56:00 PM
Description: Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo started Saturday's preseason game and had four completions on five attempts for 80 yards and a touchdown.
Insight: Romo had back surgery in December, but he looked plenty healthy Saturday night. He completed three passes to Dez Bryant, including a 31-yard touchdown. With pass-happy offensive coordinator Scott Linehan in the fold, terrific weapons and a terrible defense, Romo is a steal at his current ninth-round ADP.
Tony Romo, QB8/13/2014 4:27:00 PM
Description: According to the Associated Press, Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo will start Saturday's preseason game against the Ravens.
Insight: It will be Romo's first game since his back surgery in December. He sat out the preseason opener. With pass-happy former Lions OC Scott Linehan calling the plays, a healthy Romo will be a steal at his ninth-round ADP.
DeMarco Murray, RB8/13/2014 3:46:00 PM
Description: According to Jason La Canfora of cbssports.com, Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said that he sees DeMarco Murray as "the leader of a committee" at running back, but he added that Murray has "bell-cow traits."
Insight: Murray is going to see plenty of touches, but the Cowboys will mix in Lance Dunbar to make sure Murray stays healthy. He's never played 16 games in a season and has dealt with injuries going back to college, so he's extremely risky at his current 12.6 ADP.
Orlando Scandrick, CB8/12/2014 10:36:00 AM
Description: Cowboys DB Orlando Scandrick has received a four-game suspension for violating the league's policy against performance-enhancing drugs, according to nfl.com.
Insight: The Cowboys, who finished with a league-worst 6,645 yards allowed in 2013, can ill-afford another injury on that side of the ball. They have already lost DeMarcos Ware (free agency), Sean Lee (knee) and second-round pick DeMarcus Lawrence (foot).
Lance Dunbar, RB8/10/2014 7:58:00 PM
Description: According to ESPN Dallas, Cowboys running back Lance Dunbar didn't play in the first preseason game because the team thinks he'll be a big part of its offense.
Insight: Dez Bryant, Jason Witten, DeMarco Murray and Orlando Scandrick all sat out as well despite being healthy. "Certainly we have a good feel for what (Dunbar) can do," coach Jason Garrett said. "We just want to be selective with certain guys in preseason. DeMarco Murray did not play in the game. We felt the same way about Dunbar. As the preseason goes along, both those guys will get plenty of work. But he's a very good football player. He shows us that whenever he gets a chance in practice here in training camp, as he has when he has had game opportunities in the past." Scott Linehan, Dallas' new offensive coordinator, had two fantasy-worthy backs in Reggie Bush and Joique Bell with the Lions last season, so it's conceivable Dunbar could have a Bell-like impact. However, unlike Bell he won't get goal-line carries.
Joseph Randle, RB8/8/2014 10:59:00 AM
Description: Cowboys second-year running back Joseph Randle was solid in a starting role with DeMarco Murray and Lance Dunbar sidelined.
Insight: Randle rushed 13 times for 50 yards. He's stuck at No. 3 on the depth chart, but showed he could perform if called upon.
Brandon Weeden, QB8/8/2014 10:57:00 AM
Description: Brandon Weeden looked surprisingly good in a starting role, going 13-for-17 for 107 yards, a touchdown and no interceptions in the Cowboys preseason opener.
Insight: He did it without Dez Bryant, Jason Witten or DeMarco Murray, so we were impressed. Tony Romo did have offseason surgery, but should be ready to go when the season begins. If Weeden can continue to play at this level he'll be a solid handcuff.
Jason Witten, TE8/7/2014 11:33:00 AM
Description: Cowboys tight end Jason Witten, like fellow starters Tony Romo and DeMarco Murray, are expected to miss the preseason opener, according to Rainer Sabin of the Dallas Morning News
Insight: At 32-years-old and in his 12th season we trust he'll be ready when the bell rings and doesn't need much preseason action. Witten is a second-tier fantasy tight end (Jimmy Graham and a healthy Rob Gronkowski are on top).
DeMarco Murray, RB8/7/2014 11:28:00 AM
Description: Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray isn't expected to play in Thursday's first preseason game, according to Rainer Sabin of the Dallas Morning News.
Insight: Given Murray's injury-prone status, we are fine with anything plan that keeps him healthy for the season opener. he has never played a complete 16-game schedule. Murray set personal records for rushing attempts (217), rushing yards (1,124), rushing touchdowns (9) , receptions (53) and receiving yards (350) in 2013-14.
Tony Romo, QB8/5/2014 9:49:00 PM
Description: According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Cowboys quarterbacks coach Wade Wilson said that Tony Romo has had problems throwing the deep ball since he returned to practice following back surgery.
Insight: Romo had back surgery in December and the team has insisted he's 100 percent recovered, but Wilson thinks Romo is not cutting it loose completely. "He can get the ball down the field," Wilson said. "That's not an issue. As camp goes on, he'll just get nothing but stronger and more confident in his throws." Romo will sit out Thursday's game before making his preseason debut on Aug. 16.
Tony Romo, QB7/30/2014 11:24:00 AM
Description: Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said quarterback Tony Romo is "100 percent," according to NFL.com.
Insight: Romo had December back surgery and didn't practice Tuesday, but Jones said the team is just being cautious. Romo threw for 3,828 yards and 31 touchdowns against just 10 interceptions over 15 games in 2014 and is a bargain at his eighth-round ADP.
Tony Romo, QB7/24/2014 11:24:00 AM
Description: Cowboys QB Tony Romo is expected to be a full participant in training camp from the first day, according to a Dallas Morning News report by Jon Machota.
Insight: The Cowboys QB had December back surgery and is right on schedule with his rehab work. Romo threw for 3,828 yards and 31 touchdowns against just 10 interceptions, but missed the season finale against the Philadelphia Eagles.
DeMarco Murray, RB6/16/2014 1:47:00 PM
Description: Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray set personal records for rushing attempts (217), rushing yards (1,124), rushing touchdowns (9) , receptions (53) and receiving yards (350) in 2013-14.
Insight: Two factors made it possible. Murray started and played in 14 games, the most in his three professional seasons and the Cowboys didn't re-sign Felix Jones. Dallas doesn't have a No. 2 back to challenge Murray on their roster, so if healthy, Murray should be able to reproduce last year's fantasy totals.
Sean Lee, LB6/12/2014 2:46:00 PM
Description: Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee had surgery on his torn left ACL Thursday.
Insight: Lee suffered the injury on the first day of OTAs Tuesday. Dallas, who finished last in the NFL in yards allowed last season already lost Jason Hatcher and DeMarcus Ware for financial reasons. This doesn't bode well for the Cowboys.
Sean Lee, LB5/27/2014 10:28:00 PM
Description: Sources told Ed Werder of ESPN that Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee has been told his MRI confirmed a torn ACL in his left knee. The team will provide an official diagnosis Wednesday.
Insight: Lee suffered the injury on the first day of OTAs Tuesday. He's been one of the top inside linebackers in football when healthy but often has been injured going back to college. He tore his right ACL at Penn State and has sustained a dislocated wrist, sprained toe, strained neck and torn left ACL in four years in the NFL. Dallas finished last in the NFL in yards allowed last season and had to let Jason Hatcher and DeMarcus Ware go due to salary cap issues. Now they'll be without Lee for the entire year.
Sean Lee, LB5/27/2014 6:38:00 PM
Description: According to the Dallas Morning News, the Cowboys believe linebacker Sean Lee suffered a torn left ACL during the first day of OTAs on Tuesday.
Insight: Lee had to be helped off the field by trainers on Tuesday. He's been one of the top inside linebackers in football when healthy but often has been injured going back to college. He tore an ACL at Penn State and has sustained a dislocated wrist, sprained toe and strained neck in four years in the NFL. Dallas finished last in the NFL in yards allowed last season and had to let Jason Hatcher and DeMarcus Ware go due to salary cap issues.
Kyle Orton, QB5/22/2014 10:33:00 PM
Description: Cowboys QB Kyle Orton has told the team he plans to retire. SOURCE: Ian Rapoport, NFL.com
Insight: Orton completed 30-of-46 passes for 358 yards and two touchdowns last year in his only start of the season. The 31-year-old has played for four different teams during his eight seasons in the league.
Ryan Williams, RB5/18/2014 4:32:00 PM
Description: Former Cardinals second-round pick Ryan Williams has reached terms with Dallas on a new contract. SOURCE: Calvin Watkins, ESPN Dallas
Insight: He doesn't figure to see much playing time with DeMarco Murray, Lance Dunbar and possibly Joseph Randle ahead of him on the depth chart. At age 24, there's still time for Williams to resurrect his career. We're just not sure he'll see enough touches to make an impact in Big D.
Tony Romo, QB5/6/2014 5:53:00 PM
Description: Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said Tuesday that the team thinks that QB Tony Romo is "essentially in the prime of his career," according to the Dallas Morning News.
Insight: "I think his arm is better than ever, so we don't look at him despite his back situation that he's had over the last couple of years as somebody who is an old player by any means," Garrett said. "He simply needs to rehab his back and get himself healthy and get going again. We feel like Tony Romo has a lot of years of great football left in him." Despite Garrett's comments, we won't be surprised if Dallas takes a quarterback in the upcoming NFL Draft.
Henry Melton, DL3/18/2014 8:40:00 PM
Description: Henry Melton has agreed to a deal with Dallas, though contract details have yet to be released. SOURCE: Adam Schefter, ESPN
Insight: It's been a turbulent offseason for the Cowboys but they finally get a win here. Melton, a Pro Bowler in 2012, was probably the best player left on the market. He's coming off a torn ACL, though it sounds like he'll be ready for training camp in a few months.
Brandon Weeden, QB3/17/2014 4:56:00 PM
Description: Brandon Weeden has signed a two-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys.
Insight: Barring injury, Weeden's fantasy value is zero. Tony Romo did have offseason surgery, but should be ready to go by training camp.
DeMarcus Ware, DE3/11/2014 10:15:00 PM
Description: According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Broncos are the early favorites to land defensive end DeMarcus Ware in free agency.
Insight: The Broncos finished 13th in the league in sacks last season, though that came with Von Miller being suspended for half the season. Either way, adding Ware to the mix would make Denver's pass rush almost unstoppable.
DeMarcus Ware, DE3/11/2014 7:55:00 PM
Description: Four hours after being released, DeMarcus Ware is already considering a return to Dallas. SOURCE: Dallas Morning News
Insight: If Ware isn't able to get what he thinks he's worth on the open market, taking less money to stay with Dallas could be an option. We consider that a longshot though as Ware has already fielded calls from at least a half-dozen teams.
Miles Austin, WR3/11/2014 7:48:00 PM
Description: The Cowboys cut Miles Austin on Tuesday. SOURCE: Dallas Morning News
Insight: The quest for cap space continues for Dallas. This move frees up about $5.5 million. Perhaps the Cowboys will use some of that money to bring back DeMarcus Ware on a more affordable deal. Austin's fantasy value is at an all-time low.
DeMarcus Ware, DE3/11/2014 4:15:00 PM
Description: Star pass rusher DeMarcus Ware wouldn't take a pay cut and now the Cowboys have released him.
Insight: Ware recorded 40 tackles and six sacks last season. Overall, he had 117 sacks during his 10-year stay in Dallas. ESPN's Adam Schefter believes many teams will be interested in Ware this offseason including the Saints, Patriots and Eagles.
DeMarcus Ware, DE3/5/2014 7:59:00 PM
Description: If DeMarcus Ware wants to stay in Dallas, he'll need to take a pay cut.
Insight: That's according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The Cowboys are having a hard time getting under the salary cap and may need to make some tough decisions. For what it's worth, Ware recorded 40 tackles and six sacks last season.
Tony Romo, QB3/4/2014 6:40:00 PM
Description: Dallas quarterback Tony Romo has restructured his contract. SOURCE: ESPN Dallas
Insight: Romo will still earn the same amount of money but instead of getting a $13.5 million base salary next season, $12.5 million will be attached to his signing bonus with just $1 million going against the cap. Obviously, this won't affect Romo's fantasy value in any way.
DeMarcus Ware, DE2/11/2014 6:49:00 PM
Description: Cowboys All-Pro defensive end DeMarcus Ware is headed for elbow surgery. SOURCE: Todd Archer, ESPN Dallas
Insight: He'll have his right elbow operated on next Tuesday. Ware (40 tackles and six sacks in 2013) expects to be fully healthy by the start of training camp in a few months.
Tony Romo, QB2/6/2014 1:48:00 PM
Description: Cowboys QB Tony Romo should be ready for the next level in his rehab from surgery to relieve the pressure of a herniated disk in the next week or two.
Insight: He's on to low-impact work after going through basic core exercises since the Dec 27 surgery. Romo is expected to be ready for training camp. He put up solid numbers last season with 3,828 passing yards, 31 touchdowns and just 10 interceptions in 15 games.
Josh Brent, DT1/25/2014 11:37:00 AM
Description: Former Dallas defensive tackle Josh Brent has been sentenced to 180 days in jail and 10 years probation for intoxication manslaughter. SOURCE: Calvin Watkins, ESPN Dallas
Insight: Brent killed his teammate Jerry Brown last year in a car accident. Toxicology reports showed that Brent was well over the legal drinking limit when the crash took place. Brent retired last offseason after three seasons in the NFL. Considering the 20-year maximum sentence he was facing, it seems like Brent got off pretty easy.
Dan Bailey, K1/23/2014 5:54:00 PM
Description: Cowboys kicker Dan Bailey has agreed to a six-year, $22.5 million contract extension. SOURCE: Ian Rapoport, NFL Network
Insight: His deal expires after the 2020 season. Bailey, who is set to earn $3.75 million per season, went 28-for-30 on field goal tries in 2013.
