Boston Celtics Player Notes
For The Last 365 Days

Rajon Rondo, G8/18/2014 2:04:00 PM
Description: The latest rumor, courtesy of talk show host Tyler Spence, is for Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo is a trade with Sacramento.
Insight: If true, this would be horrible news for Darren Collison's fantasy owners because as it stands he's set to be the Kings starting point guard. Of course, after a year of rumors concerning Rondo, we will believe it when someone actually pulls the trigger on the trade.
Jerryd Bayless, G4/16/2014 5:47:00 PM
Description: Boston will be without shooting guard Jerryd Bayless Wednesday in the season finale. SOURCE: Gary Washburn, Boston Globe
Insight: Bayless is dealing with a bruised knee. With Rajon Rondo out as well, Phil Pressey (2.8 ppg) and Avery Bradley (14.8 ppg) are likely to start at guard for the Celtics.
Jared Sullinger, C4/16/2014 5:44:00 PM
Description: Boston PF/C Jared Sullinger will sit Wednesday versus the Wizards. SOURCE: Gary Washburn, Boston Globe
Insight: He's missed the last two games with a sprained ankle. Sullinger (13.3 ppg, 8.1 rpg) took major steps in 2013-14 and could be in for a breakout season if Kris Humphires leaves in free agency as he's expected to.
Kris Humphries, F4/16/2014 5:41:00 PM
Description: Celtics PF/C Kris Humphries won't be available Wednesday against Washington. SOURCE: Gary Washburn, Boston Globe
Insight: He's been battling knee tendinitis. It was an up and down season for Humphries, who averaged 8.4 ppg and 5.9 rpg in 69 appearances. He'll hit free agency this summer and has likely played his final game with the Celtics.
Rajon Rondo, G4/16/2014 5:37:00 PM

Insight: The C's are keeping Jared Sullinger (ankle), Kris Humphries (knee) and Jerryd Bayless (knee) out as well. Rondo will finish the year with 11.7 ppg, 9.8 apg, 5.5 rpg and 1.3 spg in 30 contests.
Kelly Olynyk, CHot4/14/2014 9:49:00 PM
Description: Boston C/PF Kelly Olynyk had another big game Monday at Philadelphia, scoring a career-high 28 points and grabbing nine rebounds.
Insight: Olynyk has played 37 minutes per game over his last two with both Jared Sullinger and Kris Humphries out of the lineup and had 25 points and 12 boards Saturday.
Rajon Rondo, G4/14/2014 6:16:00 PM
Description: Boston guard Rajon Rondo (shin) will start Monday against Philadelphia, according to Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe.
Insight: Rondo missed the last two games with a bruised shin. He has averaged 11.8 points, 9.7 assists, 5.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 29 games since he returned from a torn ACL, but shot a career-low 40.1 percent from the field. The career 25.2 percent 3-point shooter never attempted more than 1.3 threes per game prior to this season but has hoisted 3.1 per game in 2013-14.
Kris Humphries, F4/14/2014 5:08:00 PM
Description: Boston PF/C Kris Humphries (knee) will sit out Monday against Philadelphia, according to A. Sherrod Blakely of csnne.com.

Jared Sullinger, C4/14/2014 5:06:00 PM
Description: Celtics PF/C Jared Sullinger (ankle) will miss Monday's game, according to A. Sherrod Blakely of csnne.com.
Insight: He's out with a left ankle sprain. Kris Humphries (knee) is also out, so Brandon Bass and Kelly Olynyk should get most of the frontcourt minutes against the 76ers.
Rajon Rondo, G4/14/2014 12:11:00 PM
Description: Boston guard Rajon Rondo missed both Friday and Saturday and can't be counted on for Monday's game with Philadelphia.
Insight: He's been out with a bruised shin. Don't be surprised if the Celtics keep Rondo sidelined for the rest of the season. He's posted 11.8 ppg, 9.7 apg and 5.3 rpg in 29 contests since returning from a torn ACL.
Jerryd Bayless, G4/14/2014 12:08:00 PM
Description: Jerryd Bayless (knee) did not travel with the team to Philadelphia.
Insight: Bayless has had his moments this season but at only 9.3 ppg, he isn't your best fantasy option. Kris Humphries and Jared Sullinger will also miss the game.
Jerryd Bayless, G4/13/2014 10:12:00 AM
Description: An MRI on Jerryd Bayless' knee showed only a minor bone bruise. He could be available for Monday night's game in Philadelphia. SOURCE: Gary Washburn, Boston Globe
Insight: Bayless has had his moments this season but at only 9.3 ppg, he isn't your best fantasy option. With only two games left on the schedule, it's possible the Celtics could keep him out as a precaution.
Kelly Olynyk, C4/13/2014 9:17:00 AM
Description: Boston C/PF Kelly Olynyk poured in 25 points Saturday in a 111-99 victory over the Cavs.
Insight: Olynyk's 12 rebounds were a career-high. Jared Sullinger and Kris Humphries were both absent on Saturday, which is probably why Olynyk was able to log 39 minutes. He's overachieved as a rookie, leading all first-year big men in points (8.2 ppg) and rebounds (5.1 rpg) despite being the No. 13 pick in the draft.
Avery Bradley, SGHot4/13/2014 9:15:00 AM
Description: Celtics shooting guard Avery Bradley stayed hot by providing 25 points Saturday in a 12-point win over Cleveland.

Description: Celtics PF/C Jared Sullinger will take a seat Saturday against the Cavaliers. SOURCE: Steve Bullpet, Boston Herald

Description: Celtics guard Rajon Rondo missed Friday's game against the Bobcats due to a left shin bruise and is questionable for Saturday's game against Cleveland.

Description: Boston guard Jerryd Bayless suffered a sprained right knee Friday and is out for Saturday's game against Cleveland.
Insight: He'll have an MRI and won't travel with the team to Cleveland, according to A. Sherrod Blakely of Comcast Sportsnet New England. Bayless averages 9.3 ppg, but he's been all over the place, scoring 25 and 23 points against Detroit and Philadelphia respectively and just two and five versus Charlotte and Atlanta.

Description: Boston guard Jerryd Bayless has averaged 16.7 points over his last six games.

Description: Boston PF/C Kris Humphries will miss Saturday's game against Detroit due to right patellar tendinitis.

Description: Boston guard Jerryd Bayless has averaged 16.7 points, 3.0 assists, 2.3 threes and 1.7 steals over his last three games.
Insight: Bayless started in place of Rajon Rondo (out for rest) and had 18 points, five assists and four threes in 33 minutes Monday against the Bulls. Avery Bradley left with soreness in his troublesome right ankle, so Bayless may end up remaining in the starting lineup.

Description: Celtics forward Jeff Green is questionable for Friday's game against Toronto due to a stiff neck.
Insight: Green (16.8 ppg, 4.7 rpg) played limited minutes on Wednesday for the same reason. He could play and be limited againon Friday, so its probably best to avoid him until he is healthy again.

Jeff Green, F3/16/2014 8:57:00 PM
Description: Celtics forward Jeff Green blew up for 39 points, six rebounds and four threes in 39 minutes Sunday against the Pelicans.
Insight: Green has scored at a 20.9 ppg clip his last 18 games, but it's been more a result of getting a ton of chances (17.2 FGA, 5.8 FTA per game) rather than offensive efficiency (.410 FG%).

Rajon Rondo, G3/13/2014 5:07:00 PM
Description: Boston GM Danny Ainge said on a radio appearance Thursday that point guard Rajon Rondo probably won't play back-to-backs for the rest of the season, according to Baxter Holmes of the Boston Globe.
Insight: Rondo has averaged 34.6 minutes, 14.4 points, 10.2 assists, 5.0 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 1.4 threes since the start of February, but he sat out four games in that span. The Celtics have four more back-to-backs in their last 17 games.
Jeff Green, F3/12/2014 10:14:00 PM
Description: Celtics forward Jeff Green scored 27 points for the third time in his last six games Wednesday against the Knicks.

Rajon Rondo, GHot3/10/2014 5:47:00 PM
Description: Celtics guard Rajon Rondo (knee) will sit out Wednesday's game against New York. He still isn't playing back-to-backs. SOURCE: Mark Murphy, Boston Herald
Insight: Fortunately for fantasy owners, he will be available Tuesday at Indiana. Rondo is coming off a season-high 18 assists Sunday against the Pistons.
Kris Humphries, F3/9/2014 10:18:00 PM
Description: Boston PF/C Kris Humphries had one of his best games of the season Sunday against Detroit (20 points, 11 rebounds, two steals, two blocks).
Insight: He's actually been seeing a lot of minutes lately (26.5 mpg over his last four appearances). With that said, Humphries had just nine points combined in his previous two outings and can't be relied on for consistent fantasy production. He's unlikely to be back with the Celtics next season.
Kelly Olynyk, C3/9/2014 8:50:00 PM
Description: Celtics C/PF Kelly Olynyk was productive Sunday in a win against Detroit.
Insight: Olynyk (7.6 ppg, 4.9 rpg) put up 18 points in 18 minutes, giving him a point per minute. He also added six rebounds and two assists. He's been a pleasant surprise for the Celtics and should have a chance to make the All-Rookie team.
Rajon Rondo, GHot3/9/2014 8:44:00 PM
Description: Boston guard Rajon Rondo was feeling generous Sunday in a win against the Pistons (18 assists in 33 minutes).
Insight: That's a season-high for Rondo and his most assists in a game since November 17, 2012 (20 against Toronto). The four-time All-Star has registered a double-double in four of his last six games.
Jeff Green, F3/9/2014 8:40:00 PM
Description: Celtics forward Jeff Green was on target Sunday against Detroit.

Rajon Rondo, G3/7/2014 10:01:00 PM
Description: Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo (20 points, nine assists, seven rebounds, four steals) was impressive Friday in a win over Brooklyn.
Insight: Rondo (12.2 ppg, 8.2 apg) is quietly rounding into form. The C's are going nowhere this season but if Rondo stays and Boston lands a top-five pick in the draft, this team could be in the playoff mix in 2015.
Avery Bradley, SG3/6/2014 4:52:00 PM
Description: Celtics guard Avery Bradley is expected to miss the next two weeks with a bruised ankle. SOURCE: Boston Herald
Insight: Bradley's MRI came back negative. The Celtics are angling for a high draft pick and won't be rushing Bradley back into action. With Gerald Wallace out for the season, Jerryd Bayless (8.6 ppg) has emerged as the team's best option at shooting guard.
Kelly Olynyk, C3/5/2014 6:29:00 PM
Description: Boston C/PF Kelly Olynyk is back after missing the last two games with a toe injury. SOURCE: A. Sherrod Blakely, Comcast Sportsnet New England
Insight: He'll come off the bench Wednesday versus Golden State. Olynyk's 7.1 ppg average this season is seventh-best among rookies.
Gerald Wallace, F3/4/2014 8:57:00 PM
Description: Boston G/F Gerald Wallace had successful knee and ankle surgery on Tuesday. SOURCE: Celtics on Twitter
Insight: Obviously, he's lost for the season. Wallace (5.1 ppg, 3.7 rpg) gave the Celtics very little in his 58 games this season and is unlikely to be re-signed. His days of being a helpful fantasy contributor are over.
Avery Bradley, SG3/4/2014 5:07:00 PM
Description: Boston guard Avery Bradley (ankle) will have an MRI Wednesday, according to A. Sherrod Blakely of csnne.com.
Insight: Bradley sprained his ankle twice the week prior to the All-Star break and will have missed 15 of the last 18 games if he sits out Wednesday. The guard told coach Brad Stevens that he feels "much better" this time around compared to his first return from the injury.
Rajon Rondo, GHot3/2/2014 9:55:00 AM
Description: Boston guard Rajon Rondo flirted with a triple-double Saturday versus the Pacers.
Insight: Rondo collected 12 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds in a season-high 38 minutes of court time. The Celtics point guard drilled three of his six three-point attempts in the contest. He's shooting a career-high 36.4 percent from that distance this season.
Jeff Green, F3/2/2014 9:48:00 AM
Description: Boston small forward Jeff Green dropped 27 points on Indiana Saturday at TD Garden.
Insight: Green has a tendency to disappear at times but that wasn't the case against the Eastern Conference's best team. The 27-year-old is averaging a career-high 17.0 ppg this season.
Kelly Olynyk, C3/1/2014 6:40:00 PM
Description: Celtics C/PF Kelly Olynyk will not be available Saturday against Indiana. He's out with a toe injury. SOURCE: Gary Washburn, Boston Globe

Jared Sullinger, C2/28/2014 5:42:00 PM
Description: Celtics center Jared Sullinger (concussion) will play Saturday barring any setbacks, according to A. Sherrod Blakely of csnne.com.
Insight: Sullinger (13.1 ppg, 8.3 rpg) suffered a concussion last Friday against the Lakers and missed three games. If he gets through practice Friday, he'll play Saturday.
Kelly Olynyk, C2/28/2014 5:40:00 PM
Description: Boston center Kelly Olynyk (toe) is doubtful for Saturday's game against Indiana, according to Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe.
Insight: He sat out Wednesday with a toe injury after scoring 21 points with eight rebounds and four assists on Feb. 24. The team is expected to get Jared Sullinger back from a concussion Saturday so Olynyk won't have any fantasy value when he returns to the lineup.
Gerald Wallace, F2/28/2014 5:33:00 PM
Description: Celtics forward Gerald Wallace tore his meniscus and will need surgery, according to A. Sherrod Blakely of csnne.com.
Insight: Wallace will probably miss the remainder of the season, to the benefit of Jerryd Bayless and Chris Johnson.
Avery Bradley, SG2/28/2014 5:32:00 PM
Description: Boston guard Avery Bradley (ankle) will be reevaluated next week at some point, according to the Celtics on Twitter.
Insight: Bradley sprained his ankle twice the week prior to the All-Star break and will have missed nine of the last 10 games after sitting out Saturday. Coach Brad Stevens said Bradley will be checked out in the middle of next week or later, so he may also have to sit out next Wednesday and Friday too. Jerryd Bayless has averaged 19.3 ppg his last three games and should continue to see big minutes with both Bradley and Gerald Wallace out.
Jared Sullinger, C2/27/2014 5:15:00 PM
Description: Celtics center Jared Sullinger (concussion) expects to return to practice Friday, according to Baxter Holmes of the Boston Globe.
Insight: Sullinger suffered a concussion last Friday against the Lakers and missed the last three games. He's questionable for Saturday.
Rajon Rondo, GHot2/26/2014 10:03:00 PM
Description: Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo had a season-high 22 points to go with 11 assists and three steals in 36 minutes Wednesday against the Hawks.
Insight: Rondo irked team officials when he stayed behind in Los Angeles on Saturday for his birthday celebration while the team traveled to Sacramento. The point guard wasn't going to play anyway Saturday because it was a back-to-back, but he may face a fine. There hasn't been anything wrong with his play this month, however, as he has averaged 15.3 points, 9.9 assists and 1.6 steals per game.
Jerryd Bayless, GHot2/26/2014 9:56:00 PM
Description: Boston guard Jerryd Bayless' 29 points (five threes) were key in the Celtics' 115-104 win over the Hawks Wednesday. He has averaged 19.3 ppg his last three games.
Insight: Bayless started with Avery Bradley (ankle) out and played 30+ minutes for the third straight game. Bradley will miss at least one more game, Saturday against the Pacers.
Avery Bradley, SG2/26/2014 6:24:00 PM
Description: Boston coach Brad Stevens said Avery Bradley (ankle) is doing "much better" but still out through Saturday, according to beat writer Scott Souza.
Insight: Bradley sprained his ankle twice the week prior to the All-Star break and will have missed nine of the last 10 games after sitting out Wednesday and Saturday. Jerryd Bayless will start Wednesday, with Gerald Wallace moving to the bench.
Kelly Olynyk, C2/26/2014 5:57:00 PM
Description: Boston center Kelly Olynyk (toe) will miss Wednesday's game against the Hawks, according to Celtics announcer Sean Grande.
Insight: With Jared Sullinger (concussion) also out, look for Kris Humphries and Brandon Bass to play most of the frontcourt minutes.
Jared Sullinger, C2/26/2014 4:47:00 PM
Description: Celtics center Jared Sullinger is not expected to play Wednesday against the Hawks, according to Baxter Holmes of the Boston Globe.
Insight: Sullinger suffered a concussion Friday against the Lakers. Kris Humphries started the last two games in his place and averaged 28.5 minutes, 14 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.0 blocks and 1.0 steals. He should have another good night against Atlanta's thin front line.
Rajon Rondo, G2/25/2014 6:35:00 PM
Description: According to the Boston Herald, Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo did not have permission to leave the team for his birthday celebration in Los Angeles this past weekend.
Insight: Rondo hasn't been playing back-to-backs so he was never going to play Saturday against the Kings. The fact that he stayed behind in Los Angeles and didn't at least cheer his teammates on from the bench in Sacramento has rubbed some people the wrong way. We'll see if this results in a fine or any other type of discipline for Rondo.
Kris Humphries, F2/24/2014 8:22:00 PM
Description: According to Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe, the Celtics have no plans to buyout Kris Humphries.
Insight: Instead, Boston will allow him to leave in free agency at the end of the year. Humphries had one of his best games this season Saturday in a loss to Sacramento (19 points, eight boards in 36 minutes). He could be worth adding if Jared Sullinger's head injury keeps him out for an extended period.
Kris Humphries, FHot2/24/2014 12:08:00 PM
Description: With Boston center Jared Sullinger (concussion) out, Kris Humphries will get another start in the post on Monday night.
Insight: Humphries came up big Saturday night with 19 points, eight rebounds, two steals and two blocks. Utah center Derrick Favors will likely not play leaving the Jazz vulnerable in the middle and making Humphries a viable fantasy option.
Jared Sullinger, C2/24/2014 12:05:00 PM
Description: Celtics center Jared Sullinger is not going to play Monday versus the Jazz, according to the Boston Herald.
Insight: Sullinger suffered a concussion Friday against the Lakers. Kris Humphries (7.8 ppg, 5.7 rpg) started in his place Saturday at Sacramento and should do the same in Utah.
Rajon Rondo, G2/24/2014 10:55:00 AM
Description: Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo did not play Saturday night but is probable for Monday's game against Utah.
Insight: Rondo is off his minutes restriction and has averaged 13.7 points, 9.7 assists, 6.3 rebounds and 1.5 steals in six February games, but still misses a game when the team plays on back-to-back nights.
Jared Sullinger, C2/23/2014 7:13:00 PM
Description: It doesn't sound like Celtics center Jared Sullinger is going to play Monday versus the Jazz. SOURCE: Jeff Clark, SB Nation
Insight: Sullinger suffered a concussion Friday against the Lakers. Kris Humphries (7.8 ppg, 5.7 rpg) started in his place Saturday at Sacramento and should do the same tomorrow night in Utah.
Kris Humphries, F2/23/2014 10:02:00 AM
Description: With Jared Sullinger (concussion) out Saturday night, Boston center Kris Humphries played 36 minutes and had 19 points, eight rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals.
Insight: Humphries had some fantasy usefulness when he averaged 25.9 minutes, 10.8 points, 9.4 rebounds and 1.7 blocks from Dec. 31 to Jan. 21, but even with Saturday's performance he has recorded just 19.5 minutes, 7.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 0.6 blocks per game in his last 14. Sullinger's concussion was minor so Humphries isn't likely to stay in the starting lineup for long.
Jeff Green, F2/23/2014 10:00:00 AM
Description: Celtics swingman Jeff Green only shot 7-of-25 (.280) from the field Saturday at Sacramento but he made 13-of-18 from the free-throw line and had 29 points.
Insight: Green has delivered back-to-back 20+ point efforts and averaged 20.6 ppg in nine February games despite shooting just 37.7 percent in that timeframe.
Jared Sullinger, C2/22/2014 6:26:00 PM
Description: Boston center Jared Sullinger suffered a mild concussion during the fourth quarter Friday, according to the Celtics on Twitter.
Insight: We found out earlier that Sullinger would miss Saturday's game after taking a blow to the head Friday, so the fact that he has a concussion isn't surprising. The 21-year-old big man has been tearing it up, averaging 31.7 minutes, 16.2 points, 11.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocks over his last nine games. Kris Humphries, Brandon Bass and Kelly Olynyk will absorb Sullinger's minutes.
Phil Pressey, G2/22/2014 4:11:00 PM
Description: Celtics guard Phil Pressey is expected to get another start tonight with Rajon Rondo getting the night off.
Insight: It will be his sixth start this season. In the first five he's averaged a pedestrian 7.8 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 5.0 apg which isn't fantasy-worthy.
Rajon Rondo, G2/22/2014 3:53:00 PM
Description: Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo will not play Saturday night against Sacramento.
Insight: Rondo is off his minutes restriction and has averaged 13.7 points, 9.7 assists, 6.3 rebounds and 1.5 steals in six February games, but he is still being kept under wraps. Perhaps in hopes of a better draft position in June.
Jared Sullinger, C2/22/2014 3:44:00 PM
Description: Boston center Jared Sullinger will not play Saturday against Sacramento, according to Celtics beat writer Baxter Holmes.
Insight: Apparently he took a blow to the head in Friday night's contest despite playing 30 minutes and posting a double-double.
Rajon Rondo, G2/18/2014 5:42:00 PM
Description: Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo said he's not ready to play in back-to-back games, according to Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe.
Insight: Rondo is off his minutes restriction and has averaged 14.5 points, 9.3 assists, 6.3 rebounds and 2.0 steals in February, but he still hasn't played both ends of a back-to-back. It looks like Rondo will miss either Friday's or Saturday's game.
Avery Bradley, SG2/18/2014 5:14:00 PM
Description: Boston guard Avery Bradley (ankle) will miss at least the next four games, according to the Celtics on Twitter.
Insight: Bradley sprained his ankle twice the week prior to the All-Star break and has missed three of the past four games. Bradley's backup, Jerryd Bayless, played 25 minutes last Wednesday and had 11 points, nine assists and five rebounds.
Jared Sullinger, C2/17/2014 11:02:00 AM
Description: Boston center Jared Sullinger poor outing Wednesday should be written off due to illness (19 minutes, four points on 2-of-9 shooting).
Insight: Sullinger was dealing with the flu. He has averaged 16.5 ppg, 11.2 rpg in February and should be healthy when the season resumes. Make sure he's back in your lineup.
Avery Bradley, SG2/13/2014 4:04:00 PM
Description: Boston guard Avery Bradley isn't a lock to return immediately after the All-Star break, according to the Boston Globe.
Insight: Bradley has sprained his ankle twice in the past week and missed three of the past four games. Jerryd Bayless played 25 minutes Wednesday and had 11 points, nine assists and five rebounds.
Kelly Olynyk, C2/12/2014 10:07:00 PM
Description: Celtics center Kelly Olynyk has recorded the first two double-doubles of his career in the last two games.
Insight: Olynyk had 15 points and 10 boards over 31 minutes Wednesday against the Spurs after putting up 14 and 11 in 21 minutes Monday. Olynyk could see big minutes after the All-Star break if veterans Brandon Bass and Kris Humphries are traded, but while they are still on the team he probably won't put up fantasy-worthy numbers.
Brandon Bass, F2/12/2014 6:28:00 PM
Description: Celtics forward Brandon Bass (eye) will play Wednesday, according to Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe.
Insight: Bass was poked in the eye Monday and experienced blurred vision. He's been a nice low-end choice averaging 10.8 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 1.1 apg, 1.0 bpg.
Rajon Rondo, G2/12/2014 6:18:00 PM
Description: Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo will play Wednesday against the Spurs, according to A. Sherrod Blakely of csnne.com.
Insight: Rondo is off his minutes restriction and has averaged 14 points, 11 assists, 7.7 rebounds and 2.0 steals in February, but he still hasn't played both ends of a back-to-back. We'll see if the team allows him to do that after the All-Star break. Boston's next back-to-back is Feb. 21-22.
Avery Bradley, SG2/12/2014 6:13:00 PM
Description: Boston guard Avery Bradley (ankle) will miss Wednesday's game against the Spurs, according to A. Sherrod Blakely of csnne.com.
Insight: Bradley (14.3 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 1.4 apg) sprained his ankle last week and returned for one game before re-spraining it.
Avery Bradley, SG2/11/2014 1:43:00 PM
Description: Boston guard Avery Bradley didn't play Monday and is expected to miss Wednesday's game against San Antonio.
Insight: He's dealing with a badly sprained ankle. The Celtics are playing for the lottery right now so they'll give Bradley (14.3 ppg) as much time as he needs to recover. Gerald Wallace (4.8 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 2.5 apg) has been filling in at shooting guard.
Brandon Bass, F2/11/2014 1:40:00 PM
Description: Celtics forward Brandon Bass was poked in the eye in Monday's game and did not return.
Insight: Bass will be a game-time decision for Wednesday's contest with San Antonio due to the resulting blurred vision. He's been a nice low-end choice averaging 10.8 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 1.1 apg, 1.0 bpg.
Jeff Green, FHot2/10/2014 10:25:00 PM
Description: Jeff Green led a late fourth quarter charge as the Celtics escaped Milwaukee with a 16-point victory on Monday night.
Insight: Boston outscored the Bucks 32-18 in the final frame after being neck and neck for the first three quarters. Green had a lot to do with that as 11 of his game-high 29 points came in the game's final 12 minutes. The 27-year-old has averaged 25 ppg over his last four appearances. Make sure Green is in your lineup Wednesday when the C's host San Antonio.
Avery Bradley, SG2/10/2014 7:42:00 PM
Description: Boston guard Avery Bradley won't be available Monday against the Bucks. SOURCE: Gary Washburn, Boston Globe
Insight: He's headed for an MRI on his ailing ankle. The Celtics are playing for the lottery right now so they'll give Bradley (14.3 ppg) as much time as he needs to recover. Gerald Wallace (4.7 ppg, 3.6 rpg) will take over the shooting guard duties while he's out.
Rajon Rondo, G2/10/2014 10:05:00 AM
Description: Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo will miss Monday's game against Milwaukee.
Insight: Whatever minutes limit Rondo was on earlier in the year is obviously gone after he played 37 minutes on Sunday. Rondo is still sitting out back-to-backs so he'll have the night off on Monday. Expect rookie Phil Pressey (2.2 ppg, 2.6 apg) to start in his place.
Jared Sullinger, CHot2/9/2014 8:42:00 PM
Description: Boston center Jared Sullinger ran his double-double streak to five in a row Sunday against Dallas.
Insight: Barely. Sullinger finished with 11 points, his lowest since an eight-point outing against the Knicks on January 24th. Regardless, Sullinger has been a fantasy goliath recently, averaging 21.2 ppg, 13.4 rpg and 1.2 bpg over his last five contests. He's finally reached must-start status in all formats.
Rajon Rondo, G2/9/2014 8:30:00 PM
Description: Brad Stevens let Rajon Rondo loose Sunday in a loss to Dallas.
Insight: Whatever minutes limit Rondo was on earlier in the year didn't seem to be in play Sunday as the star point guard went off for 15 points, five rebounds and 12 assists in 37 minutes of action. Obviously, the 37 minutes were a season-high. Rondo will have the night off Monday but he should be ready to go Wednesday versus San Antonio. He's a must-start in all formats.
Avery Bradley, SG2/9/2014 4:32:00 PM
Description: Comcast Sportsnet's A. Sherrod Blakely reports that Boston guard Avery Bradley will be available for Sunday night's tilt against the Mavericks.
Insight: Bradley aggravated his sprained ankle Wednesday in a win over Philadelphia. Luckily for fantasy owners, it only caused him to miss one game. Though not a polished offensive player yet, Bradley is still good for double-digit points most nights. He's also a capable defender with a career average of just under one steal per game (0.9 spg in 190 NBA contests).
Rajon Rondo, G2/9/2014 4:29:00 PM
Description: Rajon Rondo will start at point guard Sunday versus Dallas. Rondo was too sore to play Friday against the Kings. SOURCE: A. Sherrod Blakely, Comcast Sportsnet New England
Insight: Rondo hasn't been cleared to play back-to-backs yet, so we won't see him Monday against Milwaukee. The Celtics are also getting Avery Bradley (sprained ankle) back on Sunday.
Rajon Rondo, G2/8/2014 4:18:00 PM
Description: According to MassLive's Jay King, Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo called his knee "fine" after sitting out Friday's game, but he does not know whether he'll play Sunday.
Insight: Rondo is dealing with general soreness. Celtics coach Brad Stevens indicated the team will make a decision on Rondo's status Sunday around 3:15 p.m. rather than wait for the 6 p.m. ET start. If he plays Sunday, Rondo will most likely sit out the following day at Milwaukee.
Jared Sullinger, C2/7/2014 10:22:00 PM
Description: Celtics center Jared Sullinger matched DeMarcus Cousins Friday night in a battle of top big men.
Insight: Sullinger torched the Kings for a career-high 31 points on 14-for-24 shooting. He also corralled 16 rebounds as Boston won for the third time in a row. Cousins posted the same exact numbers (31 points, 16 boards) in the losing effort.
Rajon Rondo, G2/7/2014 6:29:00 PM
Description: According to MassLive's Jay King, the Celtics expect Rajon Rondo to play Sunday against Dallas but sit out Monday versus the Bucks.
Insight: Rondo is beginning to round into form, averaging 11.8 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 1.8 spg and 8.5 apg in his last five appearances. With that said, head coach Brad Stevens still isn't taking any chances with Rondo's knee, which means he's likely to sit out back-to-backs the rest of the season. Keeping Rondo out might also have something to do with Boston's desire to land a top pick in this year's draft.
Avery Bradley, SG2/7/2014 6:20:00 PM
Description: Celtics shooting guard Avery Bradley will miss Friday's game versus the Kings after aggravating an ankle injury Wednesday against the Sixers. SOURCE: A. Sherrod Blakely, Comcast Sportsnet New England
Insight: This marks Bradley's sixth absence of the season. Gerald Wallace is going to be filling in at shooting guard. He's averaging 6.9 ppg as a starter this season.
Rajon Rondo, G2/7/2014 6:14:00 PM
Description: Boston guard Rajon Rondo won't participate in Friday's game against Sacramento. SOURCE: A. Sherrod Blakely, Comcast Sportsnet New England
Insight: Head coach Brad Stevens says Rondo is suffering from "general soreness" and has not suffered a setback in his comeback from knee surgery. Rookie Phil Pressey (2.2 ppg, 2.6 apg) will get the start at point guard for the struggling Celtics (3-7 in their last ten).
Rajon Rondo, G2/7/2014 10:55:00 AM
Description: Boston point guard Rajon Rondo is questionable for Friday's game against Sacramento with what is being labeled "general soreness."
Insight: Rondo ended up with eight points, 11 assists and nine rebounds while logging a season-high 32 minutes Wednesday against the Sixers. The minutes limit from last month appears to be gone, but check back to verify that he'll be in the lineup.
Avery Bradley, SG2/7/2014 10:52:00 AM
Description: Boston guard Avery Bradley reinjured his ankle against Philadelphia on Wednesday and is questionable for Friday's contest with Sacramento.
Insight: Bradley and Rajon Rondo (general soreness) are both hurting which likely means more offense will be needed out of Jeff Green.
Rajon Rondo, G2/5/2014 10:36:00 PM
Description: Boston point guard Rajon Rondo flirted with a triple-double Wednesday against Philadelphia.
Insight: Rondo ended up with eight points, 11 assists and nine rebounds while logging a season-high 32 minutes. His minutes limit is beginning to disappear, which means fantasy owners should probably be starting Rondo on a nightly basis. Look for the four-time All-Star to have another big game Friday against the Kings.
Jeff Green, F2/5/2014 10:30:00 PM
Description: Boston small forward Jeff Green dominated the Sixers for 36 points Wednesday in Philadelphia.
Insight: Here are Green's point totals from his last seven games: 39, 16, 8, 14, 18, 8, 36. The point is, Green is INCREDIBLY inconsistent. Some nights he looks like LeBron James. Other nights he looks like he should be playing in the D-League. Fantasy owners will get another chance to roll the dice with him Friday when the C's host Sacramento.
Gerald Wallace, F2/3/2014 11:11:00 AM
Description: Celtics forward Gerald Wallace did not play in Sunday's game against the Magic - DNP-CD.
Insight: He left the team briefly to deal with a death in his family. Wallace should be back for Wednesday's game with Philadelphia.
Brandon Bass, F2/2/2014 5:42:00 PM
Description: Celtics forward Brandon Bass' 36 minutes Sunday were his most since Dec. 13.
Insight: Bass scored 19 points with nine rebounds and a block against Orlando, his former team. The 28-year-old recently regained the starting power forward job from Kris Humphries but coach Brad Stevens frequently changes his lineup.
Rajon Rondo, G2/2/2014 4:18:00 PM
Description: Celtics guard Rajon Rondo had his best game of the season Sunday versus the Magic.
Insight: Rondo showed no ill effects from his ACL injury, torching Orlando for 19 points on 9-of-11 shooting. He also contributed six rebounds, ten assists and three steals. Boston doesn't play again until Wednesday against the Sixers.
Gerald Wallace, F2/2/2014 12:27:00 PM
Description: Celtics forward Gerald Wallace is probable for Sunday's tilt against the Magic. SOURCE: A. Sherrod Blakely, Comcast Sportsnet New England

Avery Bradley, SG2/1/2014 7:49:00 PM
Description: Boston guard Avery Bradley will return to the lineup Sunday after sitting out five games with a sprained ankle. SOURCE: Celtics on Twitter
Insight: Bradley and Rajon Rondo (6.7 ppg, 5.7 apg) have only played together three times this season so it will be interesting Sunday to see if the chemistry is still there. Bradley is having his best season, averaging a career-high 14.5 ppg on 43.9 percent shooting. He was named to the All-Defensive team last season.
Gerald Wallace, F2/1/2014 11:55:00 AM
Description: Boston small forward Gerald Wallace is questionable for Sunday's game against Orlando due to a death in the family.
Insight: Wallace played 34 minutes and took one shot. Fantasy owners should ignore him.
Vitor Faverani, C1/31/2014 5:35:00 PM
Description: Celtics center Vitor Faverani was sent to the D-League Friday, according to Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe.
Insight: Faverani averaged 32 minutes, 12.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 4.5 blocks in the first two games of the season and has put up just 4.0 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 0.5 bpg in 35 games since.
Avery Bradley, SG1/31/2014 2:25:00 PM
Description: Celtics guard Avery Bradley (14.5 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 1.4 apg) practiced Friday and should be upgraded to probable for Sunday.
Insight: Bradley will end up missing five and a half games. The Celtics have started Gerald Wallace at shooting guard in Bradley's absence, but Crash has done little that could be considered fantasy worthy in this role.
Avery Bradley, SG1/30/2014 10:38:00 AM

Jared Sullinger, C1/29/2014 9:55:00 PM
Description: Boston PF/C Jared Sullinger put up 24 points and 17 rebounds Wednesday against the 76ers.

Rajon Rondo, G1/29/2014 5:55:00 PM
Description: Boston point guard Rajon Rondo will take a rest Wednesday against the Sixers, according to Celtics announcer Sean Grande.
Insight: Rondo hasn't played a back-to-back set yet since returning from his ACL rehab. Boston's next back-to-back will come on Feb. 9-10.
Rajon Rondo, G1/28/2014 7:22:00 PM
Description: Boston point guard Rajon Rondo will start Tuesday's game versus the Knicks. According to MassLive's Jay King, he might also play Wednesday against the Sixers. Rondo sat out the second game of a back-to-back last week versus the Wizards.
Insight: The C's have been taking it slow with Rondo (6.6 ppg, 5.8 apg, 4.2 rpg) and we may not see him play his full allotment of minutes until after the All-Star break. Luckily for fantasy owners, that's only two weeks away.
Jerryd Bayless, G1/28/2014 5:47:00 PM
Description: Boston guard Jerryd Bayless (toe) is available to play Tuesday, according to Baxter Holmes of the Boston Globe.
Insight: Bayless has missed four straight games due to a sprained toe. Even with Avery Bradley out, he probably won't see enough minutes to make him fantasy-worthy.
Rajon Rondo, G1/27/2014 8:51:00 PM
Description: Celtics floor general Rajon Rondo is likely to miss one of Boston's next two games. Rondo hasn't been playing to back-to-backs since his return from ACL surgery.
Insight: Rondo played a season-high 30 minutes in Sunday's loss to Brooklyn and came close to a triple-double (13 points, eight rebounds, eight assists). Unfortunately, he also committed a team-high six turnovers. Boston's next two games are against New York and Philadelphia.
Rajon Rondo, G1/26/2014 9:16:00 PM
Description: Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo played 30 minutes Sunday against the Nets, his most since returning to the lineup on Jan. 17. He had 13 points, eight assists, eight rebounds and two threes, all season highs.
Insight: Rondo is rounding into shape after recovering from a torn ACL. He still hasn't found his shot, as he made just 5-of-14 from the field Sunday and 14-of-48 (.292) in his first five games this season.
Brandon Bass, F1/26/2014 9:14:00 PM
Description: Celtics forward Brandon Bass returned to the starting lineup and had 17 points, eight rebounds and one steal while making 6-of-6 from the field over 34 minutes Sunday against the Nets.
Insight: Bass replaced Kris Humphries, who played just 18 minutes. It's unclear if this is a long-term switch or one based on the opponent. Humphries came in averaging 26 minutes, 10.4 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.6 blocks over his last 14 games (10 starts).
Jerryd Bayless, G1/26/2014 11:30:00 AM
Description: Boston guard Jerryd Bayless was expected to miss the next 7-10 days due to a sprained right big toe, but was a limited participant in Saturday's practice, so we can't completely rule him out.
Insight: Boston acquired Bayless from Memphis in a three-team trade that also included Oklahoma City and he has averaged 7.1 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 3.0 apg in eight games.
Rajon Rondo, G1/25/2014 11:15:00 AM
Description: Despite the trade rumors surrounding him, Celtics guard Rajon Rondo says he could see himself finishing his career in Boston. SOURCE: Chris Forsberg, ESPN Boston
Insight: "I wouldn't mind extending another ten years in Boston," Rondo said Friday before his game against Oklahoma City. It's not really up to Rondo whether he gets to stay but it's a sign of personal growth that he's willing to go along with Danny Ainge's rebuilding process rather than bolting for a contender like some players would. Rondo was named the 15th captain in Celtics history earlier this month.
Jared Sullinger, C1/24/2014 8:42:00 PM
Description: Boston C/PF Jared Sullinger dislocated his right index finger in the first half of Friday's game against Oklahoma City. He returned to the game but only for a brief period. SOURCE: Baxter Holmes, Boston Globe
Insight: The Celtics shouldn't count on having him back for the second half. Look for backup power forward Brandon Bass (10.8 ppg, 5.9 rpg) to fill the void.
Rajon Rondo, G1/24/2014 6:10:00 PM
Description: As expected, Boston point guard Rajon Rondo is back in the starting lineup for Friday's game against Oklahoma City. SOURCE: Sean Grande, CBS Sports
Insight: He sat out Wednesday just to get a breather after playing three games in a row. Rondo hasn't played more than 26 minutes in any of his three games this season. He's still on a minutes limit after missing most of the first half with a torn ACL.
Rajon Rondo, GCold1/24/2014 11:57:00 AM
Description: Celtics guard Rajon Rondo did not play Wednesday against the Wizards because it was the second day of a back-to-back, but he should be back in the lineup on Friday.
Insight: Rondo failed to make a shot on eight attempts Tuesday and has hit only 7-of-27 (.259) from the field in three games since making his season debut. He's also on a minutes limit which make it tough to rely on him for fantasy. Keep looking.
Gerald Wallace, F1/24/2014 11:55:00 AM
Description: Boston small forward Gerald Wallace started at shooting guard and could continue in that role until Avery bradley returns from his sprained right ankle.
Insight: Wallace ended up playing 40 minutes collecting nine points, nine assists, six rebounds and four steals. Not bad for a fill-in.
Jeff Green, F1/22/2014 9:52:00 PM
Description: Jeff Green led the Celtics with a season-high 39 points Wednesday against Washington.
Insight: Green's eight three-pointers were a career-high. Though he hasn't been consistent, Green still leads the team in scoring at 16.2 ppg. His eligibility at multiple positions (shooting guard, small forward and even power forward in some formats) makes him a useful player to own in fantasy.
Chris Johnson, F1/22/2014 4:38:00 PM
Description: Fantasy owners should expect to see plenty of Chris Johnson Wednesday when the Celtics play the Wizards.
Insight: After signing a 10-day contract, Johnson had 11 points, three rebounds, one steal and two threes over 25 minutes Tuesday in his first game with Boston. The team will play without Rajon Rondo, Avery Bradley and Jerryd Bayless on Wednesday and will have to rely on Phil Pressey and Johnson in the backcourt with Jeff Green also seeing time at the two.
Rajon Rondo, GCold1/22/2014 4:34:00 PM
Description: Celtics guard Rajon Rondo will not play Wednesday against the Wizards because it is the second day of a back-to-back, according to Baxter Holmes of the Boston Globe.
Insight: Rondo failed to make a shot on eight attempts Tuesday and has hit only 7-of-27 (.259) from the field in three games since making his season debut. However, the team insists his absence Wednesday has nothing to do with the slump.
Avery Bradley, SG1/22/2014 2:41:00 PM
Description: Celtics guard Avery Bradley will miss a "couple of weeks" with a sprained right ankle, according to Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe.
Insight: Bradley also has a sore right hand that will be able to heal with the time off. Prior to scoring three points in seven minutes Tuesday, Bradley had averaged 18.3 points in his past 10 games and 16.3 points in his past 26. Boston will have to use a lot more of Chris Johnson with Bradley and Jerryd Bayless on the mend.
Chris Johnson, F1/21/2014 10:02:00 PM
Description: In his first game after signing a 10-day contract with the Celtics, forward Chris Johnson managed 11 points and three rebounds in 25 minutes.
Insight: That's a pretty good start, now lets see if he can back it up.
Rajon Rondo, GCold1/21/2014 10:00:00 PM
Description: Celtics guard Rajon Rondo was on the floor for almost 26 minutes in his third game back, but failed to produce against the champion Heat.
Insight: Rondo shot 0-8 from the floor and 1-of-4 from the free throw line. He played 19 and 21 minutes in his first two contests. He's not a viable fantasy option at this time, but its still early in his comeback.
Avery Bradley, SG1/21/2014 8:52:00 PM
Description: Celtics guard Avery Bradley left Tuesday's game due to a sprained ankle and is not expected to return this evening.
Insight: Bradley has been playing well, averaging 19.8 ppg over his last five contests. With Jerryd Bayless out and Rajon Rondo on a minutes limit, Phil Pressey should see a ton of court time.
Rajon Rondo, G1/21/2014 2:40:00 PM
Description: Celtics guard Rajon Rondo is on a minutes limit, but according to coach Brad Stevens, that limit will rise from 20 minutes in the first two games to 25 for No. 3 against Miami.
Insight: Rondo played 19 and 21 minutes in his first two contests. He's still not a viable fantasy option, but he's headed in the right direction.
Jerryd Bayless, G1/21/2014 12:42:00 PM
Description: Boston guard Jerryd Bayless has been downgraded to out for the next 7-10 days due to a sprained right big toe, according to beat report A. Sherrod Blakely.
Insight: Boston acquired Bayless from Memphis in a three-team trade that also included Oklahoma City and he has averaged 7.1 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 3.0 apg in eight games, but the return of Rajon Rondo should end much of his usefulness even when he gets healthy.
Jerryd Bayless, G1/21/2014 8:35:00 AM
Description: Boston guard Jerryd Bayless is doubtful for Tuesday's game against Miami due to a sprained right big toe.
Insight: Boston acquired Bayless from Memphis in a three-team trade that also included Oklahoma City and has averaged 7.1 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 3.0 apg in eight games, but the return of Rajon Rondo should end much of his usefulness.

Description: Boston swingman Jeff Green banged his knee during a fall on Sunday and went to the locker room but he returned and finished with 22 points in 35 minutes.
Insight: Green should be fine going forward. He's averaging 15.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.4 threes per game this season.
Kris Humphries, F1/19/2014 8:53:00 PM
Description: After playing just 11 minutes Friday against the Lakers, Boston PF/C Kris Humphries was on the court for 29 minutes Sunday at Orlando and had 18 points 12 rebounds and two blocks.
Insight: Celtics coach Brad Stevens has been rotating Humphries, Brandon Bass and Kelly Olynyk while giving Humphries the biggest chunk of the playing time between the three. Humphries has averaged 26 minutes, 10.5 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.0 blocks in his last 11 games.
Rajon Rondo, G1/19/2014 1:54:00 PM
Description: According to Matt Moore of CBS Sports, the Celtics are fully expected to trade Rajon Rondo before next month's deadline.
Insight: The tanking C's are trying to stockpile draft picks and Rondo is obviously the team's biggest trade chip. If a team offers up a first rounder for Rondo, GM Danny Ainge is likely to pull the trigger. Rondo returned from a torn ACL on Friday and scored eight points in 19 minutes of action.
Rajon Rondo, G1/19/2014 1:39:00 PM
Description: Boston guard Rajon Rondo will be on a minutes limit for at least the next week. SOURCE: A. Sherrod Blakely, Comcast Sportsnet New England

Description: Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo played 19 minutes and had eight points, four assists, two rebounds and two steals in his 2013-14 season debut Friday against the Lakers.
Insight: Rondo was playing for the first time since tearing his ACL on Jan. 25, 2013, and coach Brad Stevens he would be on a limit of 20 minutes. Few point guards in the league are as effective as Rondo when healthy. He averaged 13.7 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 11.1 apg in 38 games last season.
Kelly Olynyk, C1/17/2014 10:05:00 PM
Description: Boston rookie Kelly Olynyk came out of nowhere with a career-high 25 points, seven assists, five rebounds, two steals and a block in 33 minutes Friday against the Lakers.
Insight: Olynyk had scored just 39 points total his last nine games. He saw extended playing time Friday as the Kris Humphries-Brandon Bass tandem only played 30 minutes combined, but there's no way to know what rotation coach Brad Stevens will go with next game.
Rajon Rondo, G1/17/2014 6:38:00 PM
Description: Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo (knee) is in the starting lineup Friday against the Lakers, but coach Brad Stevens said he'll limit Rondo to around 20 minutes. SOURCE: Celtics on Twitter
Insight: Rondo will be playing in his first game since tearing his ACL on Jan. 25, 2013, and Stevens said these upcoming games are "really part of (Rondo's) rehab." Few point guards in the league are as effective as Rondo when healthy. He averaged 13.7 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 11.1 apg in 38 games last season. As excited as we are to have him back, fantasy owners might want to hold off on plugging him into the lineup Friday on a night when 24 teams are in action.

Kris Humphries, F1/15/2014 10:10:00 PM
Description: Boston power forward Kris Humphries had 12 points, eight rebounds and one block in 25 minutes Wednesday against the Raptors.
Insight: Brandon Bass came off the bench and also played 25 minutes, but he had just seven points and six rebounds. Humphries has averaged 10.7 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.0 blocks over his last nine games. Bass has produced 10.2 ppg, 5.7 rpg and 0.6 bpg in that same timeframe.
Jared Sullinger, C1/15/2014 10:07:00 PM
Description: Celtics C/PF Jared Sullinger pulled down a career-high 20 rebounds and added 25 points, four assists and two steals in 39 minutes Wednesday against the Raptors.
Insight: Sullinger has grabbed double-digit rebounds in four straight games. The return of Rajon Rondo Friday should lead to more easy looks for the big man and help him raise his .439 shooting percentage.
Rajon Rondo, G1/15/2014 2:35:00 PM
Description: The Celtics have officially activated point guard Rajon Rondo. SOURCE: Sean Grande, CBS Sports
Insight: Rondo (ACL) is expected to be on a minutes limit Friday against the Lakers after working out with Boston's D-League affiliate on Wednesday. Few point guards in the league are as effective as Rondo when healthy.
Joel Anthony, C1/15/2014 2:07:00 PM
Description: The Heat traded center Joel Anthony to Boston on Wednesday. SOURCE: Adrian Wojnarowski, Yahoo Sports
Insight: Anthony has played a grand total of 37 minutes this season. He's useless to fantasy owners.
Jordan Crawford, PG1/15/2014 9:47:00 AM
Description: With Rajon Rondo slated to return on Friday, the Celtics may be gearing up to trade Jordan Crawford.
Insight: According to journalist Peter Vecsey, the Clippers, Nets, Rockets, Suns and Warriors would all be interested in acquiring Crawford, who has averaged 13.7 ppg and 5.7 apg this season. Crawford might still average double-digit points with Rondo in the lineup but fantasy owners probably won't be able to rely on him for assists anymore.
Keith Bogans, G1/14/2014 8:12:00 PM
Description: The Celtics have excused shooting guard Keith Bogans indefinitely for personal reasons. SOURCE: Chris Forsberg, ESPN Boston
Insight: Bogans has appeared in only six of Boston's 39 games this season. When Rajon Rondo returns on Friday, he'll be buried even further back on the team's depth chart.
Rajon Rondo, G1/14/2014 5:55:00 PM
Description: Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo's physical test Wednesday could be his final hurdle before returning to the lineup, according to Chris Forsberg of espnboston.com.
Insight: Rondo hinted at a possible return Friday against the Lakers on his Twitter account Tuesday, tweeting "29,233,380 secs." That equates to 338 days, the amount of time from his surgery to repair a torn ACL to Jan. 17.
Jared Sullinger, C1/14/2014 9:20:00 AM
Description: Celtics C/PF Jared Sullinger suffered a neck injury Monday against Houston, but it doesn't appear to be serious.
Insight: Sullinger has posted double-digit rebounds in three consecutive games and is averaging 12.9 ppg and 7.4 rpg this season, but he's shooting just 43.7 percent from the field.
Jeff Green, F1/14/2014 9:17:00 AM

Rajon Rondo, G1/10/2014 6:54:00 PM
Description: According to Yahoo's Marc Spears, Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo is targeting January 17th for his return from a torn ACL.
Insight: That's a home game against the Lakers. The C's have gone 13-23 without him this season. Jordan Crawford (13.9 ppg, 5.7 apg) will head back to the bench when Rondo makes his return.
Kris Humphries, F1/8/2014 1:49:00 PM
Description: Boston power forward Kris Humphries (ankle) will play Wednesday against the Clippers, according to Kyle Draper of csnne.com.
Insight: Humphries was a late scratch from Tuesday's lineup after missing Monday's practice due to a sprained ankle. He has been getting more playing time at the expense of Brandon Bass averaging 23.5 minutes, 11.6 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.6 blocks over his last five games.
Jared Sullinger, C1/8/2014 12:46:00 PM

Description: Boston power forward Kris Humphries (ankle) has been scratched from the lineup due to an ankle sprain, according to Mark D'Amico of celtics.com.

Jerryd Bayless, G1/7/2014 7:37:00 PM
Description: According to Celtics.com's Mark D'Amico, Jerryd Bayless will be available for Boston Tuesday night at Denver.
Insight: Boston acquired Bayless from Memphis in a three-team trade that also included Oklahoma City. Bayless averaged 21 minutes and 8.1 points per game with the Grizzlies and will probably put up the same numbers with Boston as a backup combo guard behind Jordan Crawford and Avery Bradley.
Kris Humphries, F1/7/2014 6:24:00 PM
Description: Boston power forward Kris Humphries missed Monday's practice due to a sprained ankle and is questionable for Tuesday's game at Denver.
Insight: Humphries has averaged 23.5 minutes, 11.6 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.6 blocks over his last five games. He's been getting more playing time at the expense of Brandon Bass.
Jerryd Bayless, G1/5/2014 8:54:00 PM
Description: The Grizzlies dealt backup point guard Jerryd Bayless to Boston on Sunday. SOURCE: Marc Stein, ESPN
Insight: Memphis will receive Courtney Lee as part of the deal. Bayless is likely to back up Jordan Crawford at point guard until Rajon Rondo returns from his ACL injury. He's averaged 8.0 ppg in 30 games this season.
Courtney Lee, SG1/5/2014 6:38:00 PM
Description: Celtics shooting guard Courtney Lee isn't expected to play Sunday versus Oklahoma City. SOURCE: Sean Grande, CBS Sports

Description: Celtics C/PF Jared Sullinger (sore hand/wrist) is playing Thursday, according to Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe.
Insight: Celtics coach Brad Stevens said Sullinger's injury is painful but won't keep him out of the lineup. Sullinger is averaging 13.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game this season.
Jared Sullinger, C1/2/2014 9:34:00 AM
Description: Celtics C/PF Jared Sullinger is questionable for Thursday's game against Chicago due to a sore left hand and wrist.
Insight: Sullinger should be back out there Thursday against the Bulls. He's been a decent fantasy option averaging 13.5 ppg, 7.0 rpg and 1.8 apg. The points are more than double his season average from a year ago and should continue as long as he can stay healthy.
Jared Sullinger, C12/31/2013 5:04:00 PM
Description: Celtics coach Brad Stevens said that Jared Sullinger could have returned to action Tuesday against the Hawks. Sullinger sat out most of the second half with what was believed to be a wrist injury. SOURCE: Jay King, MassLive
Insight: Sullinger's wrist has been an issue for almost a month now but it hasn't affected his play. He struggled on Tuesday (just 1-of-6 shooting) but we're chocking it up to just an off shooting night. Sullinger should be back out there Thursday against the Bulls.
Kelly Olynyk, C12/31/2013 4:37:00 PM
Description: Boston rookie Kelly Olynyk netted a career-high 21 points in Tuesday's loss to Atlanta.
Insight: The 24 minutes Olynyk logged Tuesday were his most since November 20th against San Antonio. Olynyk should get more opportuntities as the season continues especially if starters Brandon Bass and Jared Sullinger struggle like they did on Tuesday (combined 11 points on 3-of-12 shooting).
Jared Sullinger, C12/31/2013 3:16:00 PM
Description: Celtics center Jared Sullinger aggravated his wrist injury Tuesday against the Hawks.

Avery Bradley, SGHot12/27/2013 1:22:00 PM
Description: Celtics guard Avery Bradley injured his knee during Thursday's practice but was a full participant during Friday's session, according to Jay King of masslive.com.

Jared Sullinger, CHot12/26/2013 6:50:00 PM
Description: Boston center Jared Sullinger has been playing through a left hand injury for the past month.
Insight: MassLive's Jay King says Sullinger has been dealing with a deep bone bruise and sprained ligaments in his hand since late November. Luckily for fantasy owners, it hasn't affected his scoring output. In ten December games, he's averaging 15.6 ppg. To put that in perspective, Sullinger is averaging 9.1 ppg for his career. He'll be worth a start Saturday against Cleveland.
Rajon Rondo, G12/23/2013 12:31:00 PM
Description: Rajon Rondo's return timetable could be pushed back to February according to a MassLive report.
Insight: Boston's All-Star point guard has been slow to recover from an ACL tear. At first glance, this seems to be a thinly-veiled attempt at tanking (keep in mind Rondo has been practicing for weeks). Unfortunately for the C's, half the conference is doing the exact same thing, which means a top-five pick is far from a guarantee.
Avery Bradley, SGHot12/21/2013 8:36:00 PM
Description: Celtics guard Avery Bradley has had an excellent month, averaging 16.4 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.1 threes per game.

Insight: Sullinger suffered the injury after colliding with Bradley Beal in the second quarter. He limped off the court during a timeout and was replaced after attempting to play through it. However, he scored 10 of his 22 points after halftime. "It's alright, it's a little swollen," he said. "Gave it a little bit of treatment before I step out of here and head to the plane."
Jared Sullinger, FHot12/18/2013 10:29:00 PM
Description: Celtics F/C Jared Sullinger has scored at least 19 points in each of his last three games.

Jeff Green, F12/18/2013 10:31:00 AM
Description: Boston swingman Jeff Green could be dealt in the next couple days if the rumors we're hearing about Omer Asik are true. SOURCE: ESPN
Insight: The Rockets plan to have Asik off their roster by Thursday and Boston could be his most likely destination. Brian Windhorst and Marc Stein are hearing that Green could be sent to Cleveland as part of a three-team deal. Asik coming to Boston would mean fewer minutes for Jared Sullinger and Kelly Olynyk at center.
Rajon Rondo, G12/17/2013 7:48:00 PM
Description: Sports Illustrated reports the Celtics and Kings have explored a trade that would send star point guard Rajon Rondo to Sacramento, though a number of other outlets have refuted this rumor.
Insight: The Celtics have a real dilemma on their hands. They're playing better than expected and may make the postseason regardless of whether Rondo returns to the lineup or not. Dealing Rondo would strengthen Boston's chances of landing a high lottery pick but the rest of the Eastern Conference is playing so poorly that it might not matter. The Celtics have until mid-February to make a decision on Rondo's future in Beantown. For what it's worth, the four-time All-Star is expected to return from ACL surgery sometime in January.
Kris Humphries, F12/16/2013 8:21:00 PM
Description: Boston power forward Kris Humphries returned to the lineup Monday against Minnesota. He missed Friday's game with a bruised knee.
Insight: Now that Kelly Olynyk is back from a sprained ankle, there won't be many minutes for Humphries at the power forward position. He's only scored double-digit points once this season.
Rajon Rondo, G12/14/2013 3:56:00 PM
Description: Dr. James Andrews has given Boston point guard Rajon Rondo the go-ahead to participate in full contact practices. SOURCE: Jay King, MassLive
Insight: The four-time All-Star has been recovering from a torn ACL for the past 11 months. It sounds like he could be back around Christmas. Jordan Crawford's fantasy value will take a hit when Rondo returns.
Kelly Olynyk, C12/13/2013 7:20:00 PM
Description: Celtics center Kelly Olynyk is back after missing ten games with an ankle injury. SOURCE: A. Sherrod Blakely, Comcast Sportsnet New England
Insight: He'll come off the bench with Jared Sullinger getting another start at center. If Olynyk impresses head coach Brad Stevens, he could begin challenging Brandon Bass for minutes at the four.
Kelly Olynyk, C12/11/2013 7:39:00 PM
Description: Boston rookie Kelly Olynyk won't be available for Wednesday's tilt against the Clippers. According to MassLive's Jay King, however, he could be back Friday against the Knicks.
Insight: Olynyk sprained his ankle in late November and hasn't played since. Once he does come back, Olynyk could cut into Jared Sullinger's minutes.
Kris Humphries, F12/11/2013 7:31:00 PM
Description: Celtics power forward Kris Humphries is out for Wednesday night's game against the Clippers. SOURCE: Sean Grande, 98.5 The Sports Hub
Insight: He's dealing with a bruised knee. Humphries has only been averaging about 15 mpg so this shouldn't impact many fantasy lineups.
Kelly Olynyk, C12/7/2013 1:59:00 PM
Description: Celtics coach Brad Stevens said Kelly Olynyk (ankle) will miss Sunday's game.
Insight: Olynyk hasn't played since spraining his ankle on Nov. 22, but he has started doing some individual workouts. "He told me he's feeling a little better but I don't know exactly what that means," Stevens said on Saturday. "I know he won't be playing tomorrow."
Jordan Crawford, PG12/6/2013 10:43:00 PM
Description: Boston guard Jordan Crawford had 22 points on 9-of-13 shooting, eight assists, four rebounds and two threes in 34 minutes Friday against the Nuggets.
Insight: We saw flashes of a player who could contribute in multiple categories when Crawford played the point briefly for the Wizards last season, and he has excelled in an extended run as Boston's starting point guard this year. He's averaging 16.3 points, 7.1 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.9 threes over his last seven contests.
Kelly Olynyk, C12/6/2013 9:23:00 PM
Description: Celtics coach Brad Stevens said Kelly Olynyk (ankle) is "close" to returning, according to Jay King of masslive.com.
Insight: Olynyk went through an individual workout Friday and could be back next week. He'll be listed as day-to-day started Monday. The rookie hasn't played since spraining his ankle on Nov. 22.
Rajon Rondo, G12/4/2013 9:51:00 AM
Description: Celtics guard Rajon Rondo is still waiting to be cleared for full contact. SOURCE: Comcast Sportsnet New England
Insight: The hope is that he'll be cleared sometime in the next week. Rondo's recovery from a torn ACL is going well but there's still no timetable for his return. Jordan Crawford has been filling in at point guard.
Courtney Lee, SG12/3/2013 10:59:00 AM
Description: Boston guard Courtney Lee is questionable for Tuesday's game against Milwaukee due to a sprained knee.
Insight: Lee practiced Monday which is a sign that he's close, but it will likely end up being a coach's decision. Lee doesn't hold much fantasy value averaging just 7.6 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 0.8 apg.
Jared Sullinger, F12/1/2013 10:27:00 AM
Description: Celtics F/C Jared Sullinger played 33 minutes and had 21 points and 14 rebounds Saturday at Milwaukee.
Insight: It was his second 20-point, 10-rebound game in his last three games. He's averaging 31 minutes, 15.4 points. 9.9 rebounds, 0.6 blocks and 1.3 threes in his last seven games and should be added in most leagues.
Jeff Green, FHot12/1/2013 10:26:00 AM
Description: Celtics G/F Jeff Green had 18 points Saturday and is averaging 20.4 ppg over his last seven.
Insight: Green's scoring average dropped to 14.5 ppg after he went 2-of-13 from the field for six points from Nov. 16-19, but he has it back up to 16.7 after going off in the last seven games. He has attempted 15.1 field goals and 5.6 free throws per game in that span.
Courtney Lee, SG11/30/2013 3:01:00 PM
Description: Boston guard Courtney Lee didn't make the trip to Milwaukee with the team. Lee sprained his knee in a game against Memphis earlier in the week. SOURCE: Celtics on Twitter
Insight: He's not playing Saturday against the Bucks. Avery Bradley produced 21 points in Lee's absence on Friday night.
Jordan Crawford, G11/29/2013 10:43:00 PM
Description: Boston guard Jordan Crawford generated his third-career triple-double Friday in a blowout win over Cleveland.
Insight: Crawford (11 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists) is getting extended minutes at point guard for the first time in his career and he seems to be loving every second of it. Of course, that will only last until Rajon Rondo is back on the court. Luckily for Crawford, Rondo (ACL) is still a couple weeks away from returning.
Jeff Green, FHot11/29/2013 10:39:00 PM
Description: Two nights after scoring a season-high 26 points, Jeff Green posted another season-high Friday against Cleveland.
Insight: The Boston swingman produced 31 points in 38 minutes of action. He's been the go-to scorer on a Celtics team that's done better than most people would have expected.
Courtney Lee, SG11/29/2013 7:22:00 PM
Description: According to ESPN Boston's Chris Forsberg, Celtics shooting guard Courtney Lee is out for Friday's game against Cleveland.
Insight: Lee hurt his knee in Wednesday's loss to Memphis. The 28-year-old has only been seeing about 17 minutes a game. He's done well in his limited minutes (51.0 field goal percentage and 48 percent on three-pointers) but that isn't enough to warrant a fantasy recommendation.
Rajon Rondo, G11/29/2013 11:24:00 AM
Description: Boston point guard Rajon Rondo (torn ACL) is expected to see Dr. James Andrews in early December in hopes of getting the go ahead for full contact.
Insight: Rondo said he has been participating in some drills "here and there." He's not expected to return until sometime in December.
Courtney Lee, SG11/29/2013 11:22:00 AM
Description: Boston guard Courtney Lee is questionable for Friday's game against Cleveland with a sprained left knee.
Insight: Lee can score as indicated by his 7.6 ppg average in just 17 mpg, but he'd need to get more playing time to be of value to fantasy owners. Barring injury to Jordan Crawford, he's not going to get it.
Jeff Green, F11/27/2013 10:33:00 PM
Description: Celtics G/F Jeff Green had a season-high 26 points with seven rebounds over 39 minutes Wednesday against Memphis.
Insight: Green has averaged 18.8 ppg and 5.2 rpg over his last five games. However, he has proven to be unable to keep his scoring at that level and is more of a 15-16 ppg player.
Jared Sullinger, F11/27/2013 10:30:00 PM
Description: Celtics F/C Jared Sullinger had 23 points, 12 rebounds and three assists over 35 minutes of play Wednesday against the Grizzlies.
Insight: Sullinger is starting to emerge for this young Celtics team. He has averaged 26 minutes, 13.8 points and 8.6 rebounds over his last 13 games, starting five in a row.
Keith Bogans, G11/25/2013 10:22:00 AM
Description: Boston SG/SF Keith Bogans is questionable for Monday's game against Charlotte due to illness.
Insight: Bogans has only played in two games this season and has no fantasy value. That's not likely to change any time soon.
Kelly Olynyk, C11/23/2013 6:23:00 PM
Description: Celtics coach Brad Stevens says rookie Kelly Olynyk could be out a "couple" of weeks after spraining his ankle Friday against the Pacers. SOURCE: A. Sherrod Blakely, Comcast Sportsnet New England
Insight: He didn't make the trip to Atlanta with the rest of the team. Olynyk hasn't shot the ball particularly well this year (38.9 percent in 14 games), but the fact that he's getting almost 23 minutes a game as a rookie has to be encouraging. Clearly Stevens has faith in his young big man.
Jared Sullinger, F11/23/2013 6:18:00 PM
Description: A. Sherrod Blakely of Comcast Sportsnet New England expects Celtics forward Jared Sullinger to be in the starting lineup Saturday against Atlanta.
Insight: Sullinger has been playing through an illness the past few days. He's having a breakout season with averages of 12.5 ppg and 6.6 rpg through his first 12 contests.
Kelly Olynyk, C11/23/2013 2:43:00 PM
Description: Celtics center Kelly Olynyk (ankle) did not travel with the team to Atlanta and will miss Saturday's game.
Insight: Olynyk sprained his right ankle Friday night. Jared Sullinger (illness) is also questionable, so we could see a lot of Vitor Faverani and Kris Humphries at center.
Jared Sullinger, F11/23/2013 10:38:00 AM
Description: Celtics power forward Jared Sullinger (illness) is questionable for Saturday's game, according to csnne.com.
Insight: Sullinger played through the illness Friday night but admitted after the game that he was exhausted. Kelly Olynyk suffered an ankle sprain and is also questionable for Saturday, so we could see a heavy dose of Vitor Faverani and Kris Humphries in the frontcourt against the Hawks.
Jeff Green, F11/22/2013 10:22:00 PM
Description: Celtics G/F Jeff Green has scored 19.5 ppg over his last two games.
Insight: Green looked to be getting the keys to Boston's offense after the team traded Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett this offseason, but he has attempted just 11.6 field goals per game and is averaging 15.2 ppg. He's just not someone who is going to be a high-volume, 20-ppg scorer in the NBA.
Jordan Crawford, G11/22/2013 10:18:00 PM
Description: Celtics guard Jordan Crawford had a season-high 24 points Friday against the Pacers.
Insight: In 10 games as a starter, Crawford has averaged 13 points, 5.1 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game. Grab him if you're thin at either guard spot.
Kelly Olynyk, C11/22/2013 9:05:00 PM
Description: Celtics center Kelly Olynyk sprained his right ankle during Friday's game against Indiana and will not return, according to A. Sherrod Blakely of csnne.com.
Insight: A Celtics official said holding out the rookie for the rest of Friday's game is precautionary, but he has been deemed questionable for Saturday's game. Kris Humphries started the second half at center. Coach Brad Stevens seems to be down on Vitor Faverani at the moment.
Rajon Rondo, G11/22/2013 4:43:00 PM
Description: Boston point guard Rajon Rondo (torn ACL) said in an interview with WEEI.com that he hasn't had any swelling in his surgically repaired knee.
Insight: Rondo said he has been participating in some contact drills "here and there." He's not expected to return until December.
Keith Bogans, G11/22/2013 10:30:00 AM
Description: Boston SG/SF Keith Bogans is questionable for Friday's game against Indiana due to illness.
Insight: Bogans has only played in two games this season and has no fantasy value.
Avery Bradley, SG11/19/2013 10:52:00 PM
Description: Celtics guard Avery Bradley had a miserable night shooting the ball Tuesday against the Rockets (5-for-22, 11 points).
Insight: Twenty-two shot attempts? Seriously, when did Bradley become Allen Iverson? Bradley may be averaging 13.1 ppg this season but he's not a strong offensive player. You know you're in trouble if he's your team's best scoring option. It's gonna be a long year for the C's.
Courtney Lee, SG11/19/2013 11:33:00 AM
Description: Boston guard Courtney Lee is questionable for Friday's game against Cleveland with a sprained left knee.
Insight: Lee can score as indicated by his 7.6 ppg average in just 17 mpg, but he'd need to get more playing time to be of value to fantasy owners. Barring injury to Jordan Crawford, he's not going to get it.
Avery Bradley, G11/16/2013 10:29:00 PM
Description: Boston guard Avery Bradley scored 27 points on 12-of-23 shooting Saturday in a loss to Minnesota.
Insight: Bradley is still inconsistent -- he had 13 combined points the last two games -- but he's been a more effective scorer since moving to the two-guard earlier this month. He's averaging 14.4 ppg his last nine games.
Jared Sullinger, F11/15/2013 10:10:00 PM
Description: Boston power forward Jared Sullinger had a career night Friday against the Trail Blazers.
Insight: He posted 26 points and eight rebounds while logging a season-high 36 minutes. Sullinger could be a fantasy sleeper if he stays healthy.
Jared Sullinger, F11/15/2013 7:22:00 PM
Description: Celtics forward Jared Sullinger is active for Friday's game versus Portland. SOURCE: Sean Grande, WEEI
Insight: Sullinger missed Wednesday's loss to Charlotte with a bruised knee. The 21-year-old has put up double-digit points in each of his last five games.
Jared Sullinger, F11/15/2013 10:28:00 AM
Description: Boston power forward Jared Sullinger is questionable for Friday's game against Portland.
Insight: Sullinger has a bruised knee, but practiced Thursday. He's had his injury troubles in the past but we don't think this particular ailment will require a lengthy absence. When on the court he's averaging 11.3 ppg and 5.1 rpg.
Rajon Rondo, G11/14/2013 2:24:00 PM
Description: Boston point guard Rajon Rondo (torn ACL) isn't expected back before December, according to Celtics president Danny Ainge.
Insight: Jordan Crawford and Avery Bradley have formed a decent backcourt, but obviously the level of play would rise with Rondo in the game. On the other hand it might mean less ping pong balls in their attempt to get one of this year's crop of outstanding rookies.
Jared Sullinger, F11/13/2013 6:57:00 PM
Description: Boston power forward Jared Sullinger won't be on the court Wednesday against the Bobcats. SOURCE: Celtics.com
Insight: Sullinger is day-to-day with a bruised knee. He's had his injury troubles in the past but we don't think this particular ailment will require a lengthy absence.
Jared Sullinger, F11/12/2013 6:42:00 PM
Description: Celtics power forward Jared Sullinger has been diagnosed with a bone bruise in his right knee, according to Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe.
Insight: Sullinger sustained the injury taking a charge from Maurice Harkless Monday against the Magic. He's averaging 20 minutes, 11.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per game this season and shouldn't have to miss much time, if any.
Kelly Olynyk, C11/11/2013 10:14:00 PM
Description: Celtics center Kelly Olynyk had a career-high 16 points with seven rebounds, five assists, one block, one steal and two threes over 26 minutes Monday against Orlando.
Insight: Olynyk replaced Vitor Faverani in the starting lineup Saturday at Miami and stayed there Monday. The rookie from Gonzaga should be added in most leagues.
Jordan Crawford, G11/11/2013 10:11:00 PM
Description: Celtics guard Jordan Crawford had 16 points, 10 assists and five rebounds in 33 minutes Monday against Orlando. All are season highs for the 25-year-old.
Insight: Crawford moved into the starting lineup at point guard four games ago, pushing Avery Bradley to two-guard. The shift has worked out well for both players and the Celtics, who have won four straight after starting out 0-4.
Avery Bradley, GHot11/11/2013 10:08:00 PM
Description: Boston guard Avery Bradley has improved his scoring since being moved off the ball.
Insight: He began the season as Boston's starting point guard but was moved over to the two several games ago. He scored 24 points on 10-of-15 shooting Monday and is averaging 18.3 points over the last three games.
Rajon Rondo, G11/11/2013 12:30:00 PM
Description: Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo still hasn't been cleared to begin the hard running and lateral movements that would come before a better timetable can be set.
Insight: Rondo probably won't be available for the first couple months of the regular season. Defensive specialist Avery Bradley will handle the point guard duties while he's out.
Jeff Green, F11/9/2013 10:38:00 PM
Description: G/F Jeff Green stunned the Heat by drilling a three-pointer as time expired Saturday night in a 111-110 Celtics victory.
Insight: What a finish. The Heat had this one all but wrapped up with Dwyane Wade going to the line for two with 0.6 seconds left. Instead of putting the game out of reach, Wade missed both free throws. Green (team-high 24 pts) caught the following inbounds pass from Gerald Wallace and sank the game-winner just before the clock ran out. Boston has now won three straight after starting the year 0-4.
Brandon Bass, F11/8/2013 9:48:00 PM
Description: Celtics forward Brandon Bass has scored 36 points and grabbed 11 rebounds with three blocks over the last two games.
Insight: Bass has played nearly 33 minutes per game this season despite the presence of Kelly Olynyk and Jared Sullinger off the bench. He's averaging 13.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 0.8 steals this season.
Vitor Faverani, C11/8/2013 6:59:00 PM
Description: Celtics center Vitor Faverani will start Friday's game against the Magic after playing just six minutes Wednesday. SOURCE: NBA.com
Insight: Faverani had his hands full with Enes Kanter in the first half Wednesday and was benched in favor of Kelly Olynyk in the second. However, the team will stick with the same starting lineup for now.
Kelly Olynyk, C11/6/2013 10:14:00 PM
Description: Boston rookie big man Kelly Olynyk started the second half of Wednesday's game at center and ended up playing a season-high 29 minutes. He scored 14 points and had eight rebounds, three assists and a steal in the game.
Insight: Starter Vitor Faverani played just six minutes. Olynyk has played at least 25 minutes in three straight games after playing 15 mpg the first two. However, we should continue to see Olynyk, Faverani, Jared Sullinger and Brandon Bass share the frontcourt playing time, limiting the fantasy value of all four.
Jordan Crawford, G11/6/2013 6:02:00 PM
Description: Jordan Crawford will move into the Celtics' starting lineup Wednesday against the Jazz. Boston will shift Gerald Green to small forward and Gerald Wallace to the bench.
Insight: Crawford came off the bench in each of the first four games and averaged just 19 minutes per contest, compared to a team-high 35 minutes per game for Wallace. Crawford is still averaging 9.8 ppg despite the limited playing time.
Gerald Wallace, F11/5/2013 11:27:00 AM
Description: Boston forward Gerald Wallace exited Monday's game against Memphis and is questionable for Wednesday's game against Utah after bruising his right knee.
Insight: Somehow, Wallace managed to go 28 minutes without even attempting a shot. He's only reached double-digit points once in four games this season and is an unreliable fantasy option.
Gerald Wallace, F11/4/2013 10:58:00 PM
Description: Boston forward Gerald Wallace exited Monday's game against Memphis after bruising his right knee.
Insight: Somehow, Wallace managed to go 28 minutes without even attempting a shot. He's only reached double-digit points once in four games this season. His Celtics are 0-4.
Vitor Faverani, C11/2/2013 9:33:00 AM
Description: Celtics center Vitor Faverani rejected six shots and grabbed 18 rebounds over 37 minutes of play Friday against the Bucks.
Insight: Faverani has scored in double figures in each of the first two games and blocked nine shots in total so far. He should be owned in all leagues.
Avery Bradley, G11/1/2013 6:16:00 PM
Description: Boston guard Avery Bradley is active for Friday night's game against Milwaukee. SOURCE: Sean Grande, NBA.com
Insight: Bradley injured his head during Wednesday's loss at Toronto though doctors ruled that he did not suffer a concussion. As always, Bradley is a defensive specialist with limited fantasy value.
Jared Sullinger, F11/1/2013 9:55:00 AM
Description: Boston power forward Jared Sullinger has served his one-game suspension and is probable for Friday's game against Milwaukee.
Insight: He's battling Brandon Bass for a starting power forward spot. It will likely take a few games to assess Sullinger's fantasy value based on the amount of playing time he gets. He missed the last three months of the 2012-13 campaign after undergoing back surgery.
Avery Bradley, G10/31/2013 7:21:00 PM
Description: Celtics guard Avery Bradley passed his concussion test but it's still uncertain whether he'll play Friday against the Bucks. SOURCE: MassLive.com
Insight: It's anyone's guess who starts at point guard if Bradley can't play though Phil Pressey and Jordan Crawford could be possibilities. It looks like it's going to be a long season for the NBA's most storied franchise.
Brandon Bass, F10/30/2013 10:19:00 PM
Description: Celtics forward Brandon Bass played 32 minutes and made 6-of-7 shots (5-5 FT) for 17 points with two boards, two assists and two steals Wednesday against Toronto.
Insight: We cannot accurately judge Boston's rotation until Jared Sullinger returns from his one-game suspension, but with Sullinger, Kelly Olynyk and Kris Humphries on the roster, Bass has a lot of competition for minutes.
Gerald Wallace, F10/30/2013 10:16:00 PM
Description: Celtics small forward Gerald Wallace played 40 minutes in the season opener but only scored three points with three rebounds, two assists, four steals and five turnovers.
Insight: Wallace only took one shot. The 31-year-old is coming off a terrible season with the Nets in which he averaged 30 minutes, 7.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.4 steals. Only add him if you're desperate for steals.
Vitor Faverani, C10/30/2013 10:14:00 PM
Description: Celtics center Vitor Faverani had 13 points, three rebounds and three blocks over 27 minutes Wednesday against the Raptors.
Insight: We still need to see how Boston's big-man rotation shakes out when Jared Sullinger makes his season debut after serving a one-game suspension Wednesday, but Faverani should be added in most leagues nevertheless.
Jeff Green, F10/30/2013 10:09:00 PM
Description: Celtics swingman Jeff Green hit 8-of-16 shots and scored a game-high 25 points with five rebounds, two assists, one steal, one block and two treys in an opening-night loss at Toronto Wednesday night.
Insight: With Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett gone, Green is now the No. 1 scoring option on this team. He has a very good chance at averaging 20 ppg.
Avery Bradley, SG10/30/2013 6:36:00 PM
Description: Boston's Avery Bradley will start at point guard in the season opener Wednesday against Toronto.
Insight: Bradley averaged 29 minutes, 9.2 points, 2.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.3 steals, 0.4 blocks and 0.8 threes in 50 games last season. Jordan Crawford also will see time at point guard until Rajon Rondo returns.
Brandon Bass, F10/30/2013 6:32:00 PM
Description: Celtics forward Brandon Bass will start Wednesday's game against Toronto.
Insight: Bass will see most of the power forward minutes in the season opener with Jared Sullinger serving a one-game suspension, but the two will split minutes when both are active.
Vitor Faverani, C10/30/2013 6:27:00 PM
Description: Vitor Faverani (back) will start Boston's season-opening game against the Raptors Wednesday.
Insight: Kelly Olynyk is still expected to play a large role off the bench, but Faverani is worth adding in deeper leagues. He had a strong finish to the preseason, averaging 12 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks in just under 22 minutes per game over his last three exhibition games.
Jared Sullinger, F10/29/2013 3:58:00 PM
Description: Boston power forward Jared Sullinger was suspended for one game due to his role in an offseason, off-the-court incident.
Insight: He's battling Brandon Bass for a starting power forward spot. Sullinger missed the last three months of the 2012-13 campaign after undergoing back surgery.
Jeff Green, F10/28/2013 8:09:00 PM
Description: Celtics forward Jeff Green (forearm) practiced Monday.
Insight: Green banged his funny bone during a preseason game last week, but it's not a serious issue. He's expected to start at shooting guard for the Celtics and will be the top offensive option on the team, which makes him a strong fourth- or fifth-round fantasy selection.
Rajon Rondo, G10/24/2013 2:53:00 PM
Description: Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo says his surgically repaired knee is at 87 percent. SOURCE: Boston Globe
Insight: That's awfully specific. Rondo hasn't played in the preseason yet and he probably won't be available for the first couple months of the regular season either. Defensive specialist Avery Bradley will handle the point guard duties while he's out.
Gerald Wallace, F10/23/2013 9:16:00 PM
Description: Celtics coach Brad Stevens indicated that he will use the Jeff Green-Gerald Wallace combo on the wings early in the season, according to Chris Forsberg of ESPNBoston.com.
Insight: Stevens started Avery Bradley, Green, Wallace, Kelly Olynyk and Vitor Faverani Wednesday in the team's final preseason game. "It gives us a chance to be a little unique," said Celtics coach Brad Stevens. "And, at the same time, it doesn’t forfeit the ability to move and defend multiple positions. We’re going to continue to play around with that, and I think (the Green/Wallace combo is) something that you very well could see early on in the regular season." If Green starts at the two and Wallace at the three, it would push Jordan Crawford to the bench. Wallace had a miserable and injury-plagued season with the Nets in 2012-13 and averaged 30 minutes, 7.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.7 blocks.
Jared Sullinger, F9/30/2013 10:09:00 PM
Description: Boston power forward Jared Sullinger doesn't think he's close to returning to game action. SOURCE: Gary Washburn, Boston Globe
Insight: Sullinger missed the last three months of the 2012-13 campaign after undergoing back surgery and apparently he still hasn't fully recovered. Until we hear something positive on his recovery, Sullinger won't be worth drafting in any fantasy leagues.
Rajon Rondo, G9/24/2013 9:39:00 PM
Description: According to ESPN Boston, Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge said he'd be "shocked" if Rajon Rondo (knee) was ready for the start of the regular season in late October and hinted that an early December return is more likely.
Insight: Rondo had surgery in mid-February to repair a partially torn ACL, and Ainge said there's no exact timetable for his return. "I don’t think we would ever succumb to the pressure of bringing back a player from an ACL too soon," said Ainge. "We’ve got to do what’s right for him. He’s young -- maybe if he was 37 and it was his last year, but he’s still so young. And he’s our best player. We can’t afford to make any mistakes and judgment on when to bring him back."
Jared Sullinger, F9/4/2013 11:59:00 AM
Description: Celtics forward Jared Sullinger was arrested following a domestic dispute over Labor Day weekend. SOURCE: A. Sherrod Blakely, Comcast Sportsnet New England
Insight: He was released on $5,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on September 27th. Sullinger missed most of his rookie season after undergoing back surgery. In Boston's depleted frontcourt, he should see ample playing time in 2013-14.
Rajon Rondo, G8/26/2013 8:49:00 PM
Description: Celtics forward Jared Sullinger believes that his teammate Rajon Rondo will be ready to play again by December. SOURCE: WSYX Columbus
Insight: Rondo, as most of you already know, is recovering from a very serious knee injury. Without him, the Celtics were unable to advance past the first round of the playoffs. This year, they'll be lucky to even get into the playoffs.
