American centerman is the son of former NHLer Stephane Matteau and is the 17th-ranked North American skater by NHL Central Scouting...Plays for the U.S. National Team Development Program and recorded 32 points (15G, 17A) in 46 games for the team in 2011-12...Although he is not expected to be a dominant offensive player at the NHL level, Matteau is known for his toughness and is said to play the game with an edge...Some scouts say he lacks discipline and takes too many penalties...Matteau compiled 166 penalty minutes in his 46 games with the USNTDP last season...Is expected to play next season for the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada of the QMJHL.
