Description: According to Frank Isola from the New York Daily News, Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony has been diagnosed with a partially torn left shoulder.
Insight: That would explain Melo's sub-par shooting numbers during the postseason (40.6 percent from the field). Either way, the NBA's leading scorer should be back at full strength by the time the regular starts in October.

Description: New York power forward Carmelo Anthony netted a game-high 28 points Thursday in a Game 5 win over Indiana.
Insight: Anthony has scored 25 or more in three out of his last five games. Game 6 is Saturday in Indiana.

Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony is scoring at the same rate as he did in the regular season, (28.9 vs. 28.7), but his shooting percentages are down.
Insight: Anthony is shooting 26.3 percent from beyond the three-point line and 37.8 percent overall versus 37.9 percent and 44.9 percent during the regular season. He is nursing a sore shoulder which could be part of it. The return of Amare Stoudemire for Game 3 (hopefully) could be just what Anthony needs - someone to help with the scoring burden.

Description: Carmelo Anthony led the Knicks with 24 points Sunday in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals, but he didn't make it look easy. He shot just 10-of-28 from the field in 36 minutes.
Insight: Anthony was in foul trouble all afternoon and he just didn't look like himself. Obviously Melo is in a lot of pain right now. It's difficult to envision New York advancing with Carmelo nursing a bum shoulder. The Knicks will try to even the series at one Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden.

Cold5/2/2013 9:29:00 AM
Description: New York power forward Carmelo Anthony picked the wrong time to go into a shooting slump. He's shooting just 30.5 percent from the field over his past two games (18-for-59).
Insight: Not surprisingly, the Knicks have lost both games. According to Elias, Anthony is the first player to miss 41 shots in back-to-back playoff games since Allen Iverson heaved up 42 bricks in the 2001 NBA Finals against the Lakers. Boston Globe columnist Dan Shaughnessy pointed out on ESPN's Mike and Mike in the Morning that Carmelo has taken 137 shots in the series while dishing out only six assists. The gunner will have his work cut out for him Friday night in Game 6.

Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony is probable for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals Saturday against Boston. He's been dealing with a shoulder issue.
Insight: Anthony missed the final two games of the season. He won his first scoring title and his totals of 28.7 ppg, 6.9 rpg, 2.6 apg and 2.3 3pt put him in the conversation for fantasy MVP along with Kevin Durant and LeBron James.

Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony will sit out Wednesday's game against the Hawks.
Insight: Kevin Durant is also sitting out his final game of the regular season, meaning Anthony will win his first scoring title. He averaged 28.7 ppg, 6.9 rpg, 2.6 apg and 2.3 3pt in 67 games this season.

Carmelo has gone for at least 30 points in five of his last six games, averaging 37.2 ppg over that stretch. Insight: New York coach Mike Woodson initially planned to play Melo 32 minutes but turned him loose for an additional 11. "He puts too much pressure on himself," Anthony said, according to the NY Daily News. "He can’t control that. He’s got to coach the game. If I’ve got to play 48 I’ve got to play 48."
