Insight: The Bears kept Forte in on the goal line for a one-yard touchdown and also gave it to him on a fourth-and-one and he converted. Michael Bush had six carries for 15 yards. New coach Marc Trestman should get a career year out of Forte.

Description: Chicago running back Matt Forte was in mid-season form, rushing six times for 76 yards and catching two balls for 33 yards and a score.

Description: According to the Chicago Sun-Times, one of the reasons the Bears chose to fire Lovie Smith was his "underutilization" of running back Matt Forte.
Insight: New coach Marc Trestman's offense involved heavy usage of the running back in the passing game. "I’m just excited about getting back to getting out of the backfield and running routes and catching balls. Not just running the ball, but getting the ball out in space," Forte said. "It’s a different way of running the ball. After you catch it, you’ve got to run with it. So instead of handing it off, you get the ball out in space, and that gives you more opportunity to make big plays."

7/18/2013 6:17:00 PM
Description: According to the Chicago Sun-Times, in new Bears coach Marc Trestman's 10 NFL seasons as an offensive coordinator or quarterbacks coach, his lead back averaged 65 catches per season.
Insight: "In this offense," Bears running back Matt Forte said, "the running back runs a lot of routes and is able to catch the ball a lot. I’m able to catch the ball; I’m willing to catch it. I expect a lot out of myself. I’m looking for a big year for our team as a whole, as well as an explosive offense." Forte had a career-low 44 catches last season. He should be back above 60 this year for the first time since his rookie year.

Description: Chicago halfback Matt Forte will be in the lineup Sunday against Detroit despite an ankle injury.
Insight: This one's a must win for the Bears so there was never much doubt about Forte's availability for this game. Forte (991 yards) is on the cusp of his third career 1,000 yard rushing season. He totaled 96 yards on 22 carries the last time he faced the Lions back in Week 7.

Insight: Forte has only missed one game this year but he has exited with an injury to his ankle in three separate games. The running back has been getting treatment away from the Bears' practice facility this week and he will likely be well below 100 percent. However, with no viable backups on Chicago (Michael Bush is on I.R.), Forte should see a normal workload in a game the Bears need to win. He ran for 96 yards on 22 carries against Detroit in Week 7.

Insight: Forte has only missed one game this year but he has exited with an injury to his ankle in three separate games. Unlike the first two, Forte managed to put together a solid fantasy day before leaving Sunday's game, rushing for 88 yards on 12 carries and scoring once. Fantasy owners might want to look in another direction for Week 17 since the running back isn't 100 percent.

Unlike the first two, Forte managed to put together a solid fantasy day before leaving Sunday's game, rushing for 88 yards on 12 carries and scoring once. Description: Bears running back Matt Forte left Sunday's game against the Cardinals after once again aggravating his right ankle injury. He won't return.
Insight: Forte has only missed one game this year but he has exited with an injury to his ankle in three separate games. Unlike the first two, Forte managed to put together a solid fantasy day before leaving Sunday's game, rushing for 88 yards on 12 carries and scoring once. If Forte cannot play next week he will fall less than 10 yards shy of 1,000 yards for the second straight season.

12/22/2012 7:31:00 PM
Description: Even with Michael Bush on injured reserve, the team is unlikely to turn to starting tailback Matt Forte in goal-line situations. According to ProFootballWeekly.com, the Bears do not have faith that Forte will get the job done in those situations.
Insight: Chicago just re-signed Kahlil Bell, who saw some goal-line touches with the first-team offense in training camp, and is considering him for the role Sunday. Those looking for Forte to produce a huge week with multiple touchdowns might be disappointed.
