2007: Selected by Portland in 1st round (1st overall) in the NBA Draft; signed 5-year, $23.8 million deal; missed entire season with knee injury...2008: Made NBA debut...2013: Signed with Miami to a two-year deal worth $2.2 million, Aug. 7th.
NBA DRAFT ANALYSIS: First-Team All-American as a freshman, averaging a near double-double with 15.7 points and 9.6 rebounds per game...Considered the smart choice as the top pick in this draft...A true center who does not drift to the perimeter like many players posing as centers in the NBA today...Has the body and skill set to be a dominant force from day one in the league...A dominant rebounder and shot blocker...Passes the ball effectively out of the post and can score on the interior with a high level of efficiency...Was dominant in Ohio State`s
loss to Florida in the 2007 National Championship Game...Does not bite on pump fakes defensively, allowing him to swat shots with apparent ease...Will not force shots when facing multiple defenders...Will be completely unstoppable if he improves his jump shot...Will likely try to add to his post move arsenal...Hard to find many negatives in one of the most hyped big men to come out in years.
