LeBron James flirts with triple-double as Heat rout Jazz
Miami, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - LeBron James posted a near triple-double with 30 points, nine rebounds and nine assists to lead the Miami Heat to a 117-94 drubbing of the Utah Jazz at American Airlines Arena.
Dwyane Wade added 27 points and Chris Bosh poured in 20 points for the Heat, winners in four of their last five games.
"The guys came out with great activity (defensively), but also offensively, very aggressive. It was a much more aggressive disposition than we have had previously," said Heat coach Erik Spoelstra.
Alec Burks scored a game-high 31 points to go with seven assists and four steals and Derrick Favors finished with 17 points and seven boards for the Jazz, losers in six of their last eight.
"They shot a pretty good percentage in the first half. They shot 63 percent for the game. We didn't match their intensity in the second half. Give them credit," said Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin.
The Heat trailed 50-47 at the break, but outscored the Jazz 70-44 in the second half.
Miami used a 16-3 run to open the third, with James and Bosh accounting for 13 points on the run. Utah was able to get within seven, 67-60, at the 6:36 mark, but the Heat were able to stretch their margin to 83-71 by the end of the frame.
The Jazz had one small push left, as they cut it to 85-78 following an Enes Kanter layup, but the Heat responded with a 14-4 push to go up 99-82 with just over six minutes remaining.
Miami's led swelled as large as 25 as the hosts improved to 11-2 in South Beach this season.
James was 13-for-17 shooting ... Miami won the battle of the boards by a 41-33 margin ... The Heat shot a blistering 63.4 percent from the floor ... Kanter finished with 14 points and eight rebounds in just over 17 minutes.
