Description: Houston shortstop Ronny Cedeno used a 3-for-4 afternoon Wednesday against the Mariners to extend his hitting streak to six games.
Insight: Cedeno has collected six RBI in his last two games. Marwin Gonzalez's strong play this season (.289, 3 HR, 7 RBI in 16 games) has prevented Cedeno from seeing regular playing time.

Description: Astros GM Jeff Luhnow has confirmed that newly signed shortstop Ronny Cedeno will be the team's starter, according to Brian T. Smith of the Houston Chronicle.
Insight: Tyler Greene, who is out of options, will not make the Opening Day roster. Cedeno is a career .247 hitter who doesn't hit for power or run much and has a negative career UZR. In other words, he's a perfect Astro.

Description: Shortstop/second baseman Ronny Cedeno has been released by the Cardinals.
Insight: The news should pretty much assure Matt Carpenter of the second base starting spot.

5/30/2012 9:47:00 PM
Description: Ronny Cedeno has been placed on the 15-day DL with a calf strain. The move is retroactive to May 27th.
Insight: With Justin Turner also out, the Mets' middle infield is in some disarray right now. Cedeno's injury shouldn't keep him out much longer than the required 15 days.

5/26/2012 7:48:00 PM
Description: Ronny Cedeno left Saturday's game with a leg injury but the Mets are saying it was just a cramp.
Insight: None of Cedeno's numbers this season (.231, 1 HRs, 7 RBIs) point to him being useful in any fantasy format. But if you do have him, he should be fine to play on Sunday.

Description: Ronny Cedeno is out of the starting lineup again on Thursday as the Pirates host the Giants. SOURCE: Colin Dunlap on Twitter
Insight: Cedeno was benched for not hustling and in 22 games he has just 12 hits. It's easy to see there is no place for him in fantasy except maybe the deepest of leagues.

8/17/2010 12:53:00 PM
Description: The Pittsburgh Post Gazette reports the Pirates will decide on Tuesday if they'll put Cedeno (shoulder) on the disabled list.
Insight: Cedeno is hitting just .245 over 327 at-bats this season, so hopefully this is not huge news for your fantasy team. (SportsBuff.com)

7/26/2010 12:55:00 PM
Description: Cedeno went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and two RBI against the Padres on Sunday.
Insight: Cedeno is hitting .255 with five home runs and 21 RBI. Even though he is hitting well in July, he is not a fantasy option. (SportsBuff.com)

7/20/2010 12:41:00 PM
Description: Cedeno went 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI against Milwaukee on Monday night.
Insight: Cedeno is hitting .438 (12-for-32) in July, as long as he stays hot he should see a lot of playing time. But he is still hitting just .247 on the season and is not a good fantasy option. (SportsBuff.com)

7/19/2010 10:30:00 AM
Description: Cedeno went 4-for-4 with three doubles and two runs scored on Sunday against the Astros.
Insight: Cedeno is hitting just .243 this season, so he is not a fantasy option unless he can repeat this kind of game many more times. (SportsBuff.com)

5/25/2010 10:40:00 AM
Description: Cedeno went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI against the Reds on Monday night.
Insight: Cedeno is not a fantasy option in any league, since his numbers (.243, 4 HR, 13 RBI) don't warrant consideration. (SportsBuff.com)

5/14/2010 1:10:00 PM
Description: The Pittsburgh Post Gazette reports Cedeno (wrist) is in the Pirates' starting lineup on Friday against the Cubs.
Insight: Cedeno was hit by a pitch on Tuesday night and his status going forward had been up in the air, but seems to be healthy enough to play now. (SportsBuff.com)

Insight: Cedeno will not play on Wednesday after being hit by a pitch on the wrist on Tuesday night, but he may be able to play on Friday. (SportsBuff.com)

5/12/2010 1:15:00 AM
Description: The Pittsburgh Tribune Review reports Cedeno (left wrist) will be re-examined Wednesday morning after being hit by a pitch on Tuesday night.
Insight: Cedeno's wrist could be broken, but that seems unlikely since he was able to remain the game. More should be known on Wednesday. (SportsBuff.com)

3/29/2010 12:30:00 PM
Description: MLBlogs.com reports Cedeno is out of Monday's lineup against the Astros with tightness in his lower back.
Insight: Cedeno is expected to return to action on Tuesday, and he has solid chance of being the Pirates' Opening Day shortstop. (SportsBuff.com)

3/14/2010 11:27:00 PM
Description: MLB.com reports Cedeno left Sunday's game with a laceration on his hand.
Insight: Cedeno was spiked during a steal attempt, but he did not need stitches and also counted himself lucky to not have broken his hand. He is still in line to be the Pirates' starting SS, but may need to improve his offense to hold of Bobby Crosby. (SportsBuff.com)

Hot9/10/2009 12:04:00 AM

Steady7/17/2009 12:09:00 PM
Description: Cedeno provided the Mariner's only run against Cliff Lee - a fifth inning solo homer.
Insight: Cedeno has a four-game hitting streak. Although his average is just .171, he makes for a decent middle infielder in AL-only leagues. (SportsBuff.com)

Steady7/6/2009 9:44:00 AM
Description: Cedeno went 1-for-3 with a triple against the Red Sox. He had three RBI.
Insight: Cedeno is getting regular playing time at shortstop with the Mariners. The former Cub is hitting just .150 but has four hits in his last three games, including his fourth homer. (SportsBuff.com)
