(Tuesday, May 20th)
Final Score: Seattle 6, Texas 2
Arlington, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Kyle Seager was 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI to lead the Seattle Mariners in a 6-2 win over the Texas Rangers to open a two-game set.
Robinson Cano, Nick Franklin and Dustin Ackley each had two hits and an RBI for the Mariners, who have won their past two.
"I think everything came together and the hits came when we needed them," said Franklin. "We got some timely walks and everything turned out well."
Hisashi Iwakuma (3-0) pitched eight innings and gave up two runs on six hits with a walk and three strikeouts.
Adrian Beltre hit a solo home run and Alex Rios drove in the other for the Rangers, who have lost five of their last six games. Colby Lewis (3-3) was touched for five runs on nine hits over six innings to take the loss.
"I don't think we're thinking that bad things are going to happen to us," said Rios. "We come in here thinking the best and that's the only way you can approach each game."
Beltre homered to lead off the second, his fourth of the year, to give Texas a 1-0 lead, but the Mariners went on top in the third.
Brad Miller and James Jones started the third with singles, and Michael Saunders singled to score Miller. After Cano walked to load the bases, Justin Smoak struck out. Seager, though, punched a single to left to plate two runs, and Franklin followed with a sacrifice fly for a 4-1 lead.
In the fourth, Seattle added another run on Cano's RBI single, but the Rangers got it back in the home half on Rios' single that plated Elvis Andrus.
Seattle made it a 6-2 game in the seventh as Franklin was hit by a pitch with two outs and Ackley doubled him home.
Iwakuma pitched a 1-2-3 eighth inning, while Charlie Furbush and Danny Farquhar combined to toss a perfect ninth to close out the win.

Arencibia to Triple-A Round Rock, purchased the contract of catcher Chris Gimenez from Round Rock and transferred pitcher Martin Perez from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list ...
