Dallas Mavericks Player Notes
For The Last 365 Days

Chandler Parsons, F7/13/2014 6:56:00 PM
Description: The Houston Rockets have decided not to match the Mavericks' three-year, $46 million offer sheet to Chandler Parsons.
Insight: Parsons proved he could be a fantasy force while playing with high-usage players James Harden and Dwight Howard, so he should fit right in on the Mavericks.
Dirk Nowitzki, F7/3/2014 8:50:00 PM
Description: The Mavericks have re-signed Dirk Nowitzki to a three-year deal for $30 million.
Insight: It was a foregone conclusion that Nowitzki would re-sign with the only team he's ever played with. The 36-year-old averaged 21.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.6 threes while shooting .497 from the field over 80 games last season. His terrific mid-range game has allowed him to age gracefully.
Raymond Felton, G6/25/2014 9:01:00 PM
Description: Raymond Felton has been traded to Dallas. SOURCE: Marc Spears, Yahoo Sports
Insight: Chandler is also headed to the Mavs in exchange for Jose Calderon, Samuel Dalembert, Wayne Ellington, Shane Larkin and a pair of second-round picks. All in all, it's a pretty good haul for the Knicks, who were looking to deal Felton anyway. This will be the fifth team Felton (9.7 ppg, 5.6 apg in 2013-14) has played for since 2010.
Tyson Chandler, C6/25/2014 8:55:00 PM
Description: The Mavericks have re-acquired center Tyson Chandler from the Knicks. SOURCE: Marc Spears, Yahoo Sports
Insight: The Knicks don't have a first-round pick so they needed to do something to upgrade at point guard. Chandler (8.7 ppg, 9.6 rpg in 55 games last season) won a title with Dallas back in 2011.
Dirk Nowitzki, F6/18/2014 12:50:00 PM
Description: Dirk Nowitzki will become a free agent on July 1st but he's confident he'll remain a Maverick. SOURCE: Dallas Morning News
Insight: Nowitzki has no interest in playing anywhere other than Dallas. It's worth noting that the Mavericks, led by Nowitzki and Monta Ellis, were the closest team to beating the Spurs in this year's playoffs. San Antonio needed seven games to close out its cross-state rival.
Vince Carter, G5/5/2014 7:34:00 PM
Description: The Raptors are planning to pursue G/F Vince Carter in free agency. SOURCE: ESPN
Insight: Despite his age (37), Carter should draw plenty of interest on the open market. Carter (11.9 ppg in 2013-14) had some of his best seasons in Toronto, making the All-Star team four times during his tenure there.
DeJuan Blair, C5/3/2014 9:43:00 AM
Description: Dallas center DeJuan Blair (ten points, 14 rebounds) had his second double-double of the series Friday in a victory over San Antonio.
Insight: Blair, who was suspended for Wednesday night's Game 5, picked up right where he left off in Game 4 (12 points, 11 assists). At 6-foot-7, Blair isn't a traditional center but he's better than anyone else the Mavs have to fill that role right now. Look for coach Rick Carlisle to ride the hot hand again in Game 7.
Monta Ellis, G5/3/2014 9:37:00 AM
Description: Monta Ellis kept the Mavericks alive Friday by providing 29 points in a win over San Antonio.
Insight: That ties his highest point total of the series. Sunday's Game 7 in San Antonio will determine who gets to face Portland in the next round. Ellis has averaged 21.8 ppg on 42.2 percent shooting for the series.
DeJuan Blair, C5/2/2014 11:03:00 AM
Description: Mavericks F/C DeJuan Blair is probable for Game 6 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals Friday against San Antonio.
Insight: Blair served his one-game suspension for kicking Tiago Splitter and should be back in the lineup. He's only averaging about nine minutes a night in the playoffs, but putting up 5.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in that short span of time.
Samuel Dalembert, C5/2/2014 10:59:00 AM
Description: Mavericks center Samuel Dalembert (right ankle) is probable for Game 6 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals Friday against San Antonio.
Insight: He was back at practice on Thursday, so should be good to go. Dalembert has averaged 21 minutes, 4.8 points and 9.8 rebounds in this season's playoffs.
Vince Carter, G4/30/2014 9:48:00 PM
Description: Mavericks sixth man Vince Carter dropped a game-high 28 points on the Spurs Wednesday but San Antonio won to take a 3-2 lead in the first-round playoff series.
Insight: Carter's buzzer-beater won Game 3 and he has averaged 26 minutes, 13 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 2.2 threes in the series.
DeJuan Blair, C4/29/2014 8:06:00 PM
Description: The NBA has suspended Mavericks F/C DeJuan Blair one game without pay for kicking Spurs center Tiago Splitter in the head during Monday's game, according to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports.
Insight: Blair and Splitter collided while going for a loose ball and Blair kicked him in the head while both players were on the floor. He was ejected from the game and will miss Game 5 of the series.
Monta Ellis, G4/26/2014 9:17:00 PM
Description: Dallas shooting guard Monta Ellis blew up for 29 points Saturday in a last-second win over San Antonio.
Insight: Ellis was awful in Game 1 (4-for-14, 11 points) but he's looked much better in his last two outings, averaging 25 ppg on 47.6 percent shooting. The Mavs can extend their series lead to 3-1 with a win Monday in Game 4.
Vince Carter, G4/26/2014 8:51:00 PM
Description: Mavericks sixth man Vince Carter sunk the game-winning three-pointer as time expired Saturday against San Antonio.
Insight: Carter faked out Manu Ginobili in the corner and got the shot off just before the buzzer. Vinsanity only shot 3-of-8 from the field but nobody is going to remember the other seven shots he took. Dallas leads the best of seven series two games to one heading into Monday's Game 4.
Shawn Marion, F4/26/2014 9:44:00 AM
Description: Mavs small forward Shawn Marion left right after Wednesday's game to be home for the birth of his child, but should be ready to play on Saturday.
Insight: Marion was huge on Wednesday with 20 points, five rebounds, two assists and three steals, but he also had just eight points in the series opener.
Dirk Nowitzki, FCold4/20/2014 3:44:00 PM
Description: Dallas forward Dirk Nowitzki had an awful game Sunday versus San Antonio.
Insight: Dirk (11 points, eight rebounds) made just four of his 14 field goal attempts and was invisible when the Mavs needed him most in the fourth quarter (0-for-4, two fouls, one turnover in the final six minutes of regulation). The Spurs have given him trouble all season as the seven-footer is averaging just 17 ppg in five games against them in 2013-14 (season average is 21.7 ppg).
Monta Ellis, G4/13/2014 9:29:00 AM
Description: Monta Ellis tied a season-high with 37 points Saturday in the Mavs' playoff-clinching win over the Suns.
Insight: Ellis (19.0 ppg, 5.8 apg) gave his team a monumental effort when it needed him most and now Dallas is back in the playoffs for the 13th time in the last 14 seasons. The Mavericks can lock up the No. 7 seed in the West with a win Wednesday in their regular season finale against Memphis.
Monta Ellis, G4/10/2014 6:07:00 PM
Description: Dallas guard Monta Ellis (tailbone) is expected to play Thursday, according to Earl K. Sneed of mavs.com.
Insight: Ellis hurt his tailbone on a hard fall Tuesday but still played 38 minutes and he received treatment Wednesday. He has averaged 19.1 ppg and 5.8 apg over his last 12 games.
Shawn Marion, F4/10/2014 6:05:00 PM
Description: Mavs small forward Shawn Marion (foot) is expected to play Thursday against the Spurs, according to Earl K. Sneed of mavs.com.
Insight: Marion received treatment on his injured foot Wednesday and will play through the pain to help Dallas reach the postseason.
Shawn Marion, F4/9/2014 11:18:00 AM
Description: Mavs small forward Shawn Marion hurt his right foot Tuesday against Utah but expects to be back in action Thursday versus San Antonio. SOURCE: Dallas Morning News
Insight: With Dallas fighting to save its season, Marion is determined to play through the pain. The Matrix has struggled against the Spurs this season, averaging 4.5 ppg on 18.8 percent shooting in two previous matchups.
Dirk Nowitzki, F3/30/2014 10:00:00 AM
Description: Mavs power forward Dirk Nowitzki collected 19 points, seven rebounds and seven assists Saturday in a win against Sacramento.
Insight: Eight of his 19 points came in the fourth quarter. Dirk now has at least seven rebounds in each of his last four games. That's significant because he's only averaging 6.1 rpg for the season.
Samuel Dalembert, C3/27/2014 7:09:00 PM
Description: Mavericks center Samuel Dalembert (back stiffness) told coach Rick Carlisle that he'll be able to play Thursday.
Insight: Back stiffness threatened to keep him out. Dalembert has averaged 23.4 minutes, 8.3 points, 11.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocks over his last four games.
Samuel Dalembert, C3/27/2014 5:37:00 PM
Description: Mavericks center Samuel Dalembert (back) will be a game-time decision Thursday against the Clippers.
Insight: Dalembert has averaged 23.4 minutes, 8.3 points, 11.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocks over his last four games but is dealing with a stiff back. If he can't play Thursday, Brandan Wright and Vince Carter will see more playing time.
Jose Calderon, G3/26/2014 9:25:00 AM
Description: Mavericks guard Jose Calderon had 22 points, eight assists, four rebounds and six triples in 37 minutes Tuesday against the Thunder.
Insight: Calderon (11.5 ppg, 4.8 apg, 2.4 rpg) took an elbow to the face early in Sunday's game against the Nets and didn't return, but he's fine. The 32-year-old's assists are down as he's had to share the backcourt with Monta Ellis while also playing with Dirk Nowitzki, who doesn't put up shots after getting the ball as quickly as some of the other top-scoring power forwards in the NBA. However, Calderon has made a career-high 2.4 threes per game.
Dirk Nowitzki, F3/26/2014 9:14:00 AM
Description: Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki had 32 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, four steals, two threes and a block in Dallas' victory over the Thunder Tuesday night.
Insight: Believe it or not, it was just the fourth double-double of 2013-14 for Nowitzki and certainly one of his best all-around stat lines this season.
Jose Calderon, G3/24/2014 12:37:00 PM
Description: Mavericks guard Jose Calderon took an elbow to the face Sunday against Brooklyn and is questionable for Tuesday's game against Oklahoma City.
Insight: Devin Harris would handle most of the point guard duties for Dallas if Calderon can't return though the offense would likely run through hot Monta Ellis (24 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 5.5 apg over the past two contests).
Samuel Dalembert, CHot3/23/2014 10:37:00 PM
Description: Mavs center Samuel Dalembert came down with 15 rebounds Sunday in a loss to Brooklyn.
Insight: He also contributed 12 points and seven blocked shots. Dalembert has come on strong lately with averages of 13.0 rpg and 3.7 bpg over his last three contests. If you're desperate at center, you could do a lot worse than Dalembert.
Jose Calderon, G3/23/2014 8:38:00 PM
Description: Mavericks guard Jose Calderon took an elbow to the face Sunday against Brooklyn. He's doubtful to return. SOURCE: Ed Sefko, DallasNews.com
Insight: The injury occurred less than one minute into the game. With Calderon likely done for the night, expect Devin Harris to handle most of the point guard duties for Dallas.
Monta Ellis, G3/23/2014 6:20:00 PM
Description: Mavs guard Monta Ellis will draw the start Sunday against Brooklyn. SOURCE: Dwain Price, Fort Worth Star-Telegram
Insight: Ellis (18.8 ppg, 5.8 apg, 3.6 rpg) injured his thigh Friday against Denver but was never expected to miss tonight's game. His field goal percentage this season (45.7) is his highest since 2008 (53.1).
Vince Carter, G3/22/2014 5:02:00 PM
Description: According to the Dallas Morning News, Mavericks G/F Vince Carter dislocated his pinky twice on Friday, but X-rays came back negative and he played the rest of the game with his finger taped up.
Insight: Carter had 13 points, four assists, three rebounds, three threes and two steals in 24.5 minutes Friday night and has averaged a solid 14.4 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.6 threes and 2.4 assists his last 14 games.
Monta Ellis, G3/22/2014 4:46:00 PM
Description: Dallas shooting guard Monta Ellis (thigh) is expected to play Sunday against the Nets, according to Earl K. Sneed of mavs.com.
Insight: Ellis missed Saturday's practice with a tight contusion. He has been a consistent second option to Dirk Nowitzki this season, averaging 18.8 points on .457 shooting, 5.8 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.8 steals. He has scored double-digit points in 65 of his 70 games.
Vince Carter, G3/21/2014 9:49:00 PM
Description: Mavs swingman Vince Carter dislocated his pinkie Friday against Denver.
Insight: His X-rays came back negative and he's already returned to action. Carter is still an excellent three-point shooter but he can't get to the hoop like he used to. He's worth having on your roster but isn't a must-start.
Shawn Marion, F3/16/2014 9:50:00 PM
Description: Dallas forward Shawn Marion had 19 points Sunday against the Thunder. It was his highest scoring game since Feb. 21.
Insight: Marion entered play on Sunday with an average of 6.7 ppg, 4.3 rpg and 1.2 apg in March.
Devin Harris, G3/12/2014 9:03:00 PM
Description: Mavs point guard Devin Harris (Achilles) is active for Wednesday's game against the Jazz, according to the Dallas Morning News.
Insight: Harris (7.9 ppg, 4.0 apg) plays 18.5 minutes per game for the Mavericks and has minimal fantasy value.
Devin Harris, G3/12/2014 11:52:00 AM
Description: Mavs point guard Devin Harris doesn't think his sore Achilles is anything serious. SOURCE: Tim MacMahon, ESPN Dallas
Insight: He's questionable for Wednesday's game against Utah. Rookie Shane Larkin (2.9 ppg) should see more playing time if Harris (7.9 ppg, 4.0 apg) is out.
Jae Crowder, F3/11/2014 9:40:00 AM
Description: Mavericks forward Jae Crowder will miss Tuesday's game against Golden State due to a strained abdominal muscle.
Insight: Crowder had been playing about 14 mpg since being recalled from the D-League on Mar 2, but those minutes should go to Shawn Marion.
Wayne Ellington, G3/5/2014 12:50:00 PM
Description: Mavericks swingman Wayne Ellington (personal) will miss Wednesday's game, according to Earl K. Sneed of mavs.com.
Insight: Ellington has scored in double figures just twice all season and can be ignored. His 10 minutes per game will be given to multiple players.
Vince Carter, GHot3/2/2014 9:23:00 PM
Description: Mavericks G/F Vince Carter had another strong game Sunday at San Antonio, scoring 21 points with four rebounds, five assists and three threes.
Insight: Carter has averaged 18.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.6 triples, 3.2 assist and 1.0 steals his last five games.
Vince Carter, GHot2/26/2014 10:42:00 PM
Description: Mavericks G/F Vince Carter has averaged 19.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.7 threes and 3.3 assists his last three games.
Insight: Carter had a season-high 23 points Monday and followed it up with 17 points in just 22 minutes Wednesday. The 37-year-old has attempted 26 free throws his last five games and made 23 of them.
Dirk Nowitzki, F2/26/2014 8:19:00 PM
Description: Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki went to the locker room in the first minute of the first quarter Tuesday against the Pelicans, but he returned to the game a few minutes later.
Insight: Nowitzki took a jumper and one of New Orleans' players made contact with his left arm. He left the floor clutching his left shoulder but probably just had a stinger.
Vince Carter, G2/22/2014 10:42:00 AM
Description: Mavericks G/F Vince Carter is questionable for Saturday's game against Detroit with a sore left knee.
Insight: Carter (11.3 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 2.8 apg) has been inconsistent this season so hasn't been a viable fantasy option.
Devin Harris, G2/18/2014 11:50:00 AM
Description: Dallas guard Devin Harris (knee/ankle) is probable for Tuesday's game against Miami.
Insight: Harris said his right knee buckled. He missed Wednesday's game against Indiana. He's only averaging 18.6 minutes per game this season so fantasy owners won't have much reason to start Harris (8.9 ppg, 3.8 apg) even when he does play.
Shawn Marion, FCold2/12/2014 9:49:00 PM
Description: Dallas forward Shawn Marion has scored eight points or less in eight of his last nine games.
Insight: Marion had four points on 2-of-9 shooting Wednesday at Indiana and hasn't been the same since suffering rib and shoulder injuries on a hard fall last month.
Dirk Nowitzki, F2/12/2014 6:23:00 PM
Description: Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki (ankle) will play Wednesday against the Pacers, according to Earl K. Sneed of mavs.com.
Insight: Nowitzki suffered a sprained ankle in the first half Tuesday at Charlotte but was able to return to the game and finished with 16 points in 24 minutes. The injury snapped a string of seven consecutive games with 20+ points.
Dirk Nowitzki, F2/12/2014 4:32:00 PM
Description: Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki told reporters after last night's game that he would be available Wednesday against the Pacers. SOURCE: Chuck Cooperstein, 103.3 FM ESPN Dallas
Insight: Nowitzki suffered what is believed to be at least the 12th sprained ankle of his career on Tuesday. He played through the injury and scored 16 points in 24 minutes of action. Expect a similar output tonight in Indiana.
Devin Harris, G2/11/2014 9:49:00 PM
Description: Dallas guard Devin Harris may have tweaked his knee Tuesday when Bobcats point guard Ramon Sessions stepped on his foot. SOURCE: Earl Sneed, Mavs.com
Insight: Harris said his right knee buckled but he doesn't expect to miss Wednesday's game against Indiana. He's only averaging 18.6 minutes per game this season so fantasy owners won't have much reason to start Harris (8.9 ppg, 3.8 apg) even if he does suit up on Wednesday.
Dirk Nowitzki, F2/11/2014 8:25:00 PM
Description: Mavs power forward Dirk Nowitzki has returned to action after suffering a sprained left ankle early in Tuesday's game against Charlotte.
Insight: It might already be too late as the Bobcats have jumped out to a 21-point lead early in the second half. Dirk has just two points in 12 minutes so far.
Dirk Nowitzki, F2/11/2014 7:49:00 PM
Description: Dallas forward Dirk Nowitzki left Tuesday's game against Charlotte after twisting his left ankle. SOURCE: Tim MacMahon, ESPN Dallas
Insight: He limped off the court and is now being treated in the team's locker room. If Dirk is out for the game, we'd likely see Brandan Wright fill in for him at power forward.
Monta Ellis, G2/11/2014 7:08:00 PM
Description: Dallas shooting guard Monta Ellis is playing Tuesday against the Bobcats, according to Earl K. Sneed of mavs.com.
Insight: Ellis has been dealing with hamstring soreness since Friday night but hasn't had to miss a game yet.
Monta Ellis, G2/11/2014 1:48:00 PM
Description: Dallas shooting guard Monta Ellis is questionable for Tuesday's game against Charlotte
Insight: His right hamstring was reportedly tight at Monday's practice. It doesn't sound like Ellis will miss the game, but fantasy owners would be wise to check back before game-time. He has an off shooting night Sunday going 3-of-9 for just 11 points.
Monta Ellis, G2/9/2014 5:26:00 PM
Description: It's official. Dallas shooting guard Monta Ellis will be in the lineup Sunday against Boston. SOURCE: Mavs PR on Twitter
Insight: His status had been in question after straining his right hamstring Friday against Utah. It doesn't sound like Ellis (19.5 ppg, 5.8 apg) will be on any kind of minutes restriction, so fantasy owners can feel good about starting him.
Monta Ellis, G2/9/2014 4:52:00 PM
Description: Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle thinks guard Monta Ellis (hamstring) has a good chance to play Sunday against Boston. SOURCE: Earl K. Sneed, mavs.com
Insight: Ellis suffered a hamstring strain late in Friday's win over the Jazz. The guard has been very good all season, averaging 19.5 ppg on 46.2 percent shooting, 5.8 apg, 3.3 rpg and 1.8 spg. He's a game-time decision.
Monta Ellis, G2/9/2014 11:32:00 AM
Description: Mavericks guard Monta Ellis (hamstring) participated in shootaround Sunday, but he is still a game-time decision.

Shawn Marion, F2/5/2014 8:06:00 PM
Description: Mavs small forward Shawn Marion has returned to the starting lineup after missing two games with shoulder and rib injuries. SOURCE: Fort Worth Star-Telegram
Insight: Jae Crowder had been starting in Marion's place. Marion (11.1 ppg) has been Dallas' best rebounder this season. He carries a 6.9 rpg average into tonight's contest against Memphis.
Shawn Marion, F2/4/2014 4:59:00 PM
Description: Mavericks forward Shawn Marion (shoulder) said he'll play Wednesday against the Grizzlies unless he suffers a setback, according to Eddie Sefko of the Dallas Morning News.
Insight: Marion hurt his shoulder and ribs on a fall in January and missed four games before returning. The injury started nagging him again and kept him out the last two games.
Samuel Dalembert, C2/4/2014 12:04:00 AM
Description: Fantasy owners shouldn't get used to the 18 points Samuel Dalembert put up Monday against the Cavaliers.
Insight: Dalembert has scored double-digit points just twice since the start of December. He splits time at center evenly with Brandan Wright and DeJuan Blair.
Shawn Marion, F2/3/2014 12:08:00 PM
Description: Mavericks forward Shawn Marion (shoulder) is not expected to play Monday, according to Eddie Sefko of the Dallas Morning News.
Insight: Marion hurt his shoulder and ribs on a fall earlier this month and hopes he can get back in time for Wednesday's contest.
Dirk Nowitzki, FHot1/31/2014 11:06:00 PM
Description: Mavericks power forward Dirk Nowitzki has made 34-of-56 (.607) from the field and 27-of-27 from the foul line while averaging 33.3 ppg his last three games.
Insight: Nowitzki put up 34 points and had five rebounds, two assists, two steals and one 3-point in Friday's win over Sacramento. He was named to his 12th All-Star team Thursday.
Shawn Marion, F1/31/2014 5:24:00 PM
Description: Mavericks forward Shawn Marion (shoulder) will not play Friday against the Kings.
Insight: Marion hurt his shoulder and ribs on a fall earlier this month and appears to still be dealing with it. His absence will open up more minutes for Jae Crowder and Vince Carter.
Jae Crowder, F1/31/2014 2:02:00 PM
Description: Mavericks forward Jae Crowder is expected to get the start on Friday with Shawn Marion resting his shoulder.
Insight: Crowder is averaging just 8.0 ppg and 3.7 rpg as a starter this season, so this upgrade on the depth chart shouldn't change his fantasy value.
Shawn Marion, F1/30/2014 4:51:00 PM
Description: Mavericks forward Shawn Marion is day-to-day with a shoulder injury, according to Eddie Sefko of the Dallas Morning News.
Insight: Marion hurt his shoulder and ribs on a fall earlier this month and appears to still be dealing with it. He's questionable for Friday's game, and his absence would open up minutes for Vince Carter and Jae Crowder.
Devin Harris, GHot1/28/2014 9:45:00 AM
Description: Mavericks point guard Devin Harris has already claimed the backup point guard role from Shane Larkin and saw significant minutes in Sunday's contest.
Insight: Harris used to be a fantasy stud, but hasn't been healthy the past few seasons and has fallen off the radar screen. He's scored 14 points in each of the last two games and added 11 assist in 40 minutes of play. He'll backup Jose Calderon. He missed the first three months of the season with a toe injury.
Dirk Nowitzki, FHot1/26/2014 10:07:00 PM
Description: After putting up 38 points and 17 rebounds Wednesday night against Houston, Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki is averaging 21.6 points and 6.2 rebounds per game this season.
Insight: Nowitzki is shooting .483/.393/.908 FG/3P/FT on the season and has averaged 33 points and 13 boards his last two games.
Dirk Nowitzki, F1/26/2014 10:07:00 PM
Description: Mavericks power forward Dirk Nowitzki led all scorers with 28 points on 10-of-16 shooting Sunday against the Pistons.
Insight: Nowitzki has averaged 21.2 points and 6.0 rebounds this season. We'll see if that's enough to get him into his 12th All-Star game as a reserve.
Dirk Nowitzki, F1/24/2014 2:24:00 PM
Description: Mavs power forward Dirk Nowitzki was a late scratch Wednesday against Toronto, but will play Friday, according to mavs.com.
Insight: Wednesday appears to have been a rest day for a tired 35-year-old body, not due to injury and fantasy owners should expect to see the "regular" Nowitzki on Friday.
Dirk Nowitzki, F1/22/2014 7:16:00 PM
Description: Mavs power forward Dirk Nowitzki was a late scratch Wednesday against Toronto. SOURCE: Josh Lewenberg, TSN 1050
Insight: We're going to assume it's just a rest day for the veteran. Shawn Marion (11.5 ppg, 6.9 rpg) is filling in at the four with Jae Crowder (5.5 ppg) getting the start at small forward. It's only Nowitzki's second absence of the season.
Samuel Dalembert, C1/22/2014 2:34:00 PM
Description: Mavericks center Samuel Dalembert will play Wednesday at Toronto despite a left shoulder strain. "I can manage the pain," he said. SOURCE: Eddie Sefko, Dallas Morning News.
Insight: Dalembert left Monday's game with the injury. He has played just 20 minutes per game this season so he isn't a good fantasy option, and with Dalembert active neither are DeJuan Blair and Brandan Wright.
Monta Ellis, G1/20/2014 6:21:00 PM
Description: Mavericks guard Monta Ellis had 22 points, eight assists and two steals over 36 minutes Monday at Cleveland.
Insight: Ellis is averaging 20 points per game while shooting 46 percent from the field this season. He has reduced his 3-point attempts by 1.8 per game from last season, when he made just 41.6 percent from the field.
Shawn Marion, F1/20/2014 6:19:00 PM
Description: Mavericks forward Shawn Marion has averaged 12.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.0 threes per game in four games since returning from his rib and shoulder injuries.
Insight: Marion had 18 points on 7-of-8 shooting Monday afternoon at Cleveland and has scored at least 14 points in three of the last four games.
Samuel Dalembert, C1/20/2014 3:30:00 PM
Description: Mavericks center Samuel Dalembert left Monday's game with a left shoulder strain and is not expected to return.
Insight: DeJuan Blair has been putting on a better show anyway, with 13 points and five rebounds, while Dalembert managed just one point and three rebounds in 14 minutes of play.
Jose Calderon, G1/18/2014 7:30:00 PM
Description: Mavs point guard Jose Calderon will suit up Saturday against Portland. SOURCE: Earl Sneed, Mavs.com
Insight: A bruised knee limited Calderon to 19 minutes on Friday night. That broke up a string of four games in a row with double-digit points. Calderon should be good for his usual 12 points and five assists tonight against the Blazers, assuming he doesn't aggravate his knee injury.
