Outfield Player Notes
For The Last 15 Days

Coco Crisp, CF, OAK8/30/2014 5:54:00 PM
Description: Athletics center fielder Coco Crisp is not in Saturday's starting lineup.
Insight: The oft-injured outfielder hurt his shoulder running into the wall Friday night and will head back to the bench. He's batting .254 with 9 HR, 45 RBI and 61 runs scored, but he's been in and out of the lineup in the second half due to inuries. Sam Fuld will leadoff and Craig Gentry will cover center field.
Yasiel Puig, CF, LOSCold8/30/2014 5:01:00 PM
Description: Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig is back in the Dodgers lineup Saturday.
Insight: Los Angeles manager Don Mattingly gave Puig Friday off to try and give him a breather. Puig is hitless in his last 17 at-bats. Andre Ethier played center field on Friday and returns to the bench on Saturday.
Jose Bautista, RF, TOR8/30/2014 3:47:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista homered for the fourth straight game to lift Toronto to a 2-0 victory over the New York Yankees.
Insight: Bautista's two-run shot accounted for the only runs in the game. He went 1-for-3 in the game and has moved into sole possession of sixth place on the American League home run list with 28. Bautista is also hitting .284 with 82 RBI and a .917 OPS.
Jacoby Ellsbury, CF, NYYHot8/30/2014 11:30:00 AM
Description: Yankees center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury is not in the starting lineup on Saturday.
Insight: Ellsbury was limping around in the clubhouse on Friday night after injuring his left ankle while sliding into home plate in the ninth. The Yankees have off on Monday, so it's possible manager Joe Giradi will be extremely cautious and sit him on Sunday as well, so Ellsbury gets three straight days of rest.
Jose Bautista, RF, TOR8/30/2014 11:24:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista is 1-for-11 lifetime against Yankees starter Michael Pineda.
Insight: Bautista has homered in three straight games and is tied with teammate Edwin Encarnacion for sixth in the American League with 27 home runs. He is also hitting .283 with 80 RBI this year.
Ryan Braun, RF, MIL8/30/2014 11:19:00 AM
Description: Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun is a lifetime .182 hitter (2-for-11) against Giants starter Jake Peavy.

Description: Indians center fielder Michael Bourn is hitting .348 (8-for-23) in his career against Royals starter James Shields.
Insight: Bourn had his five-game hitting streak snapped on Friday, going 0-for-5. Even with the 0-for-5, Bourn is hitting .333 in the last week with three extra-base hits. On the season, he is batting .268 with three home runs and 25 RBI in 332 at-bats.
Andrew McCutchen, CF, PIT8/30/2014 10:33:00 AM
Description: Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen is a career .250 hitter (4-for-16) with a home run against Reds starter Alfredo Simon.
Insight: McCutchen looked frustrated on Friday night, popping up a couple times with runners on base. The MVP did register a bloop single to go 1-for-4. It's pretty clear that McCutchen is still not completely healthy with his ribs, but he is in the lineup, and he should be in yours too.
Rusney Castillo, CF, BOS8/30/2014 10:04:00 AM
Description: Cuban outfielder Rusney Castillo will make his professional debut with the Gulf Coast League Red Sox on Sunday according to the Providence Journal.
Insight: He will play in the Gulf Coast League finals on Sunday and make his way to the postseason series at either Double-A Portland or Triple-A Pawtucket. Eventually, he is expected to join the Red Sox in September.
Jose Bautista, RF, TOR8/30/2014 9:19:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista slugged a solo home run on Friday against the Yankees.

Description: Red Sox center fielder Mookie Betts hit a grand slam to lead Boston over Tampa Bay, 8-4, on Friday.

Jorge Soler, RF, CHC8/29/2014 11:21:00 PM
Description: Cubs right fielder Jorge Soler continues his unbelievable start to his career, going 3-for-3 with two home runs and three RBI against the Cardinals on Friday.
Insight: The 22-year-old has seven hits in his first 11 at-bats in the big leagues. He also has six RBI, three runs and three home runs. If he isn't picked up already in your league, gladly take him.
Marcell Ozuna, CF, MIA8/29/2014 10:51:00 PM
Description: Marlins outfielder Marcell Ozuna went 3-for-4 with a double and RBI against the Braves on Friday.
Insight: Ozuna has cooled off since four straight multi-hit games, which included three straight contests with a home run, last week, but he was feeling it on Friday. The outfielder is one of the most streaky hitters around, so this has almost become expected. He has seven multi-hit games this month but is hitting .227.
Justin Upton, LF, ATLHot8/29/2014 10:48:00 PM
Description: Braves left fielder Justin Upton went 2-for-3 with three RBI and a home run on Friday against the Marlins.
Insight: The big night gives Upton a new career-high for RBI in a season. The left fielder has 91 with still a month left to go. He is also hitting .288 with 26 home runs, 30 doubles, 70 runs and seven stolen bases.
Jacoby Ellsbury, CF, NYYHot8/29/2014 10:39:00 PM

Jose Tabata, RF, PIT8/29/2014 9:55:00 PM
Description: Pittsburgh outfielder Jose Tabata was 2-for-4 on Friday and drove in the game-winning RBI in the eighth as the Pirates beat the Reds, 2-1.
Insight: The Pirates called up Tabata this week. On Friday, he record his first major league hit since June 18, playing for the injured Travis Snider. He will continue to fill in for Snider, who is ailing with a hamstring injury.
Billy Hamilton, CF, CINHot8/29/2014 9:52:00 PM
Description: Cincinnati center fielder Billy Hamilton went 1-for-3 with a walk, run and two steals in the Reds loss on Friday.
Insight: With the two steals Friday, Hamilton now has 53 on the season, which is second only to Dee Gordon. Hamilton is also hitting .268 with 38 extra-base hits, 46 RBI, and 70 runs in 489 at-bats this year.
Cody Ross, LF, ARI8/29/2014 8:08:00 PM
Description: Arizona outfielder Cody Ross (calf) took live batting practice without any setbacks on Friday and is expected to return to the Diamondbacks on Monday when the rosters expand.
Insight: Ross has not played since straining his calf in the middle of June. Even if he returns next week, he is not expected to play everyday and thus is not a viable fantasy option.
Steve Pearce, RF, NYYHot8/29/2014 8:03:00 PM
Description: Orioles 1B/OF Steve Pearce left Friday's game against the Twins in the third inning with a right abdominal strain.
Insight: Roch Kubatko of MASN speculated that Pearce hurt something while going into the stands to catch a foul ball in the second inning. If that's the case, Pearce should be able to return sometime this weekend.
Yasiel Puig, CF, LOSCold8/29/2014 7:14:00 PM
Description: Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig is not in the Dodgers lineup Friday night.
Insight: Puig has been slumping and does not have good career numbers against Padres starting pitcher Andrew Cashner. Andre Ethier will play center field on Friday, and Puig will return on Friday.
Travis Snider, LF, PIT8/29/2014 3:29:00 PM
Description: Pirates right fielder Travis Snider left Wednesday's game against the Cardinals with an apparent leg injury and is not in Friday's starting lineup.
Insight: Snider tweaked something after beating out a bunt single in the third inning. Jose Tabata will start in right field. Tabata is batting .283, but without much power as his .645 OPS will attest.
Yasiel Puig, CF, LOSCold8/29/2014 10:46:00 AM
Description: Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig is just 1-for-11 with four strikeouts against Padres starter Andrew Cashner.
Insight: Puig is hitting .301/.388/.495 with 13 home runs and 59 RBI and 71 runs this year. He's hitless in his last three games (0-for-14) and this unfavorable matchup doesn't figure to help those numbers.
Denard Span, CF, WAS8/29/2014 10:42:00 AM
Description: Hot-hitting Nationals center fielder Denard Span has carried a lot of fantasy owners with his bat this season, but Friday night's matchup with Felix Hernandez should be avoided.
Insight: Span has batted .369 with an .877 OPS since the All-Star break, but he's just 2-for-22 with eight strikeouts versus "King Felix."
Mike Trout, CF, ANA8/29/2014 10:34:00 AM
Description: In a matchup of All-Stars, Oakland left-hander Jon Lester has gotten the best of Angels center fielder Mike Trout.
Insight: Trout is 0-for-6 with three strikeouts in their matchups. Trout is just starting to break out of a slump, going 6-for-12 over the past three games. Hopefully, Lester won't slow the progress, but Trout isn't a great option Friday.
Giancarlo Stanton, RF, MIA8/29/2014 10:21:00 AM
Description: Miami right fielder Giancarlo Stanton Napoli is just 1-for-10 with six strikeouts against Braves starter Ervin Santana.
Insight: Stanton has to be considered for MVP as he leads the NL with 33 homers, 97 RBI, walks (87), OBP (.403), SLG (.558), OPS (.961) and total bases 273. Having said all that this isn't a great matchup for the slugger.
Jose Bautista, RF, TOR8/29/2014 10:08:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista is a career .368 hitter with four extra-base hits versus Yankees starter Chris Capuano.
Insight: Bautista's batting average is down since the All-Star break, but he's still leadling the league in OBP and his .890 OPS should keep fantasy owners happy. He's just 2-for-19 this week, but both hits were home runs.
Jay Bruce, RF, CIN8/29/2014 10:05:00 AM
Description: Reds right fielder Jay Bruce is 6-for-11 (.545) with a home run against Pirates starter Edinson Volguez.
Insight: This may not be the time to jump on the Bruce bandwagon after last night's "Olympic Rings" performance a.k.a. 0-for-5 with five strikeouts.
Desmond Jennings, CF, TAM8/28/2014 10:50:00 PM
Description: Tampa Bay center fielder Desmond Jennings was a late scratch from the lineup on Friday night according to the Tampa Bay Times.
Insight: Jennings was dealing with left knee soreness. It is unclear if he will return on Saturday. Brandon Guyer is in left field and batting lead off for the Rays on Friday.

Nelson Cruz, LF, BAL8/28/2014 10:44:00 PM
Description: Orioles left fielder Nelson Cruz was 2-for-4 with a double, run and steal against the Rays on Thursday.
Insight: Cruz is 4-for-12 (.333) in his last three games, which is nice to see because he is hitting .207 in 87 at-bats during the month of August.
Adam Jones, CF, BAL8/28/2014 10:36:00 PM
Description: Orioles center fielder Adam Jones went 2-for-3 with a walk and run scored in the victory over the Rays on Thursday.
Insight: Jones has been slumping lately, hitting .217 in the past week. The nice game on Thursday raises his average back to .288. He also has 24 home runs, 25 doubles, 78 RBI and 75 runs.
Angel Pagan, CF, SFG8/28/2014 6:47:00 PM
Description: Giants center fielder Angel Pagan went 3-for-4 with a run scored in Thursday's victory over the Rockies.
Insight: Pagan also had a stole base. The center fielder broke out of a little slump as he came into the game hitting .188 in his last four games.
Alex Rios, RF, TEX8/28/2014 4:53:00 PM
Description: Rangers right fielder Alex Rios (thumb) has been downgraded to out for Thursday's game against Houston.
Insight: Rios has been dealing with a lingering right thumb injury. He's batting .281 with four homers, 52 RBI, 51 runs and 16 SB, but much more was expect from him after last season's production.
Billy Hamilton, CF, CINHot8/28/2014 4:15:00 PM
Description: Cincinnati center fielder Billy Hamilton went 2-for-2 with a double and his 51st steal of the season Thursday against the Cubs.
Insight: Fantasy owners were a bit scared back in March that Hamilton would be able to hit enough to make his speed worthwhile. That hasn't turned out to be a problem. He's batting .267 with 25 doubles, seven triples, six homers and 69 runs scored in addition to the steals.
Alex Rios, RF, TEX8/28/2014 11:08:00 AM
Description: Rangers right fielder Alex Rios (thumb) is doubtful for Thursday's game against Houston.
Insight: Rios has been dealing with a lingering right thumb injury. He's batting .281 with four homers, 52 RBI, 51 runs and 16 SB, but much more was expect from him after last season's production.
Chris Denorfia, RF, SDP8/28/2014 11:05:00 AM
Description: Mariners outfielder Chris Denorfia is questionable for Friday's game against Washington due to a stiff neck.
Insight: Denorfia (.242, 1 HR, 19 RBI) doesn't get many plays by fantasy owners. His one redeeming fantasy value is that he's one of the few guy who can actually hit Clayton Kershaw. Since the Mariners aren't facing the Dodgers, this injury doesn't mean much.
Scott Van Slyke, RF, LOS8/28/2014 10:50:00 AM
Description: Los Angeles outfielder Scott Van Slyke left Wednesday's game after turning his right ankle chasing down a ball in right center.
Insight: X-rays were negative. Van Slyke was a great fantasy option Wednesday and went 1-for-2 with a solo homer before leaving, but doesn't see much regular time. He should miss the next few days.
Josh Reddick, RF, OAK8/28/2014 10:38:00 AM
Description: Athletics outfielder Josh Reddick is just 3-for-21 without an extra-base hit against Angels left-hander C.J. Wilson.
Insight: It's likely that Reddick won't be in the starting lineup as he's just a .181 hitter versus lefties and a .289 hitter against right-handers this season.
Torii Hunter, RF, DET8/28/2014 10:06:00 AM
Description: Detroit right fielder Torii Hunter is not in Thursday's starting lineup.
Insight: No injury, just a matchup problem. Hunter is 0-for-10 against Yankees right-hander Hiroki Kuroda. Hunter has four consecutive multi-hit games to raise his average to .278 with 15 HR and 71 RBI.
Scott Van Slyke, RF, LOS8/27/2014 10:58:00 PM
Description: Los Angeles outfielder Scott Van Slyke left Wednesday's game in the bottom of the fourth inning with an apparent ankle injury. He twisted his ankle while chasing a ball in left center field but walked off under his own power.
Insight: With a career .438 average, four home runs and five RBI versus Arizona starting pitcher Wade Miley and a 1.042 OPS against southpaws this season, Van Slyke was a great fantasy option Wednesday. He went 1-for-2 with a solo homer before leaving.
Denard Span, CF, WASHot8/27/2014 10:53:00 PM
Description: Hot-hitting Nationals center fielder Denard Span went 3-for-4 with a double, a homer and three runs Wednesday against the Phillies.

Jason Heyward, RF, ATLHot8/27/2014 10:09:00 PM
Description: Braves right fielder Jason Heyward went 1-for-4 with a solo homer Wednesday.
Insight: Heyward has batted an impressive .336 over his last 38 games, but with just three homers during that span. On the season, he's hitting .270 with 11 homers, 53 RBI, 66 runs, 14 steals and a .742 OPS.

Description: Mets right fielder Curtis Granderson has batted 24-for-140 (.171) with two homers and six RBI since the All-Star break.

Carl Crawford, LF, LOSHot8/27/2014 6:25:00 PM
Description: Dodgers left fielder Carl Crawford is not in the lineup Wednesday at Arizona.
Insight: Crawford is batting .338 with 14 runs and seven steals in August, but he'll get a day off with lefty Wade Miley on the mound. Scott Van Slyke, who has eight doubles, seven homers and 17 walks in 102 plate appearances against lefties this season, is starting in left field.
David Peralta, RF, ARI8/27/2014 5:58:00 PM
Description: Diamondbacks outfielder David Peralta is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Dodgers.
Insight: With Paul Goldschmidt out for the season, Peralta is currently the biggest threat in Arizona's lineup, but the lefty-swinging outfielder will take a seat to avoid facing Clayton Kershaw.
Jorge Soler, RF, CHC8/27/2014 4:54:00 PM
Description: Cuban outfielder Jorge Soler will make his major league debut on Wednesday, batting fifth in the Cubs lineup.
Insight: Soler batted .340 with a .432 on-base percentage, 15 home runs, and 57 RBI at Double-A and Triple-A this year. The outfielder signed a nine-year, $30 million deal in 2012 after defecting from Cuba.

Description: Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen is back in the Pirates lineup on Wednesday against the Cardinals.
Insight: We are all happy to see him back in the lineup as Pirate fans collectively held their breathe on Tuesday. Desmond Jennings, CF, TAM8/23/2014 11:12:00 AM
Description: Tampa Bay center fielder Desmond Jennings is hitting .421 with a double in 19 at-bats against Toronto starter Mark Buehrle.
Insight: Jennings is hitting .264 with five homers and an .861 OPS against lefties this season while batting .234 with five homers and a .646 OPS against righties. His excellent numbers against Buehrle and Buehrle's struggles over the past two months make Jennings a solid option in the outfield on Saturday.
Justin Upton, LF, ATLHot8/23/2014 11:05:00 AM

Insight: Miami had the lowest payroll in baseball on Opening Day and they lost ace Jose Fernandez to Tommy John surgery after eight starts, but Stanton's production has helped the Marlins go 64-63. Angel Pagan, CF, SFG8/22/2014 10:59:00 PM
Description: Giants center fielder Angel Pagan left Friday's game with calf tightness, according to John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Insight: Pagan went 2-for-5 before being replaced in center field by Gregor Blanco in the bottom of the ninth. The Giants were up 10-2 at the time so it was probably a precautionary measure. He's day-to-day.
Ben Revere, CF, PHIHot8/22/2014 10:57:00 PM

Carl Crawford, LF, LOSHot8/22/2014 7:01:00 PM
Description: Dodgers left fielder Carl Crawford is out of the lineup Friday against the Mets.
Insight: Crawford has batted .338 with six steals and 11 runs in August, but the team will give him a day off with left-hander Jon Niese on the hill for New York. Lefty masher Scott Van Slyke is in the lineup in Crawford's place.
Josh Reddick, RF, OAK 8/22/2014 6:57:00 PM

Cuddyer missed more than two months with a fractured shoulder before returning on Aug. 17. He went 5-for-10, hit for the cycle and scored two runs during a doubleheader on that day but hasn't played since due to his hamstring injury.

Insight: Span has, however, been on fire recently. He bounced back from his 0-for-4 on Wednesday, going 2-for-3 on Thursday and scoring the lone run of the game as Washington walked off with a victory for the fifth time in six days. Despite the career troubles Span has against Hudson, it might be tough to sit him. Since June 17, he has gone 78-for-231 (.338) including 65-for-178 (.365) since July 1 and 52-for-134 (.388) since the All-Star break to raise his average to .302.

Description: Angels center fielder Mike Trout has batted just .174 (8-for-46) over the past two weeks (11 games).
Insight: Fantasy owners are probably getting a little frustrated, but looking at the big picture shows he's still a fantasy stud. He's batting .288 with 27 HR, 89 RBI, 84 runs scored, 12 SB and a .930 OPS. Still, for fantasy owners it's what have you done for me lately?

Description: Red Sox activated outfielder Allen Craig from the 15-day disabled list.
Insight: Craig will serve as the designated hitter in Thursday's series finale against the Angels. David Ortiz will take the day off. Boston will likely work Craig back into the lineup slowly due to his injury setbacks over the last year.

Kirk Nieuwenhuis, CF, NYM8/21/2014 9:38:00 AM
Description: Mets outfielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis is questionable for Friday's game against the LA Dodgers due to a stiff neck.
Insight: Nieuwenhuis doesn't start and his .233 batting average witth a .748 OPS wouldn't excite fantasy owners even if he did. Nothing to see here.

Insight: Bruce is hitting .221 with a .686 OPS, 14 homers, 55 RBI, 61 runs and 11 steals this season. At this point he's strictly a player to use in matchups like the one he has Wednesday.
Jon Jay, CF, STLHot8/20/2014 12:25:00 PM
Description: Cardinals center fielder Jon Jay has batted .419 with two homers, 11 RBI, 11 runs and a 1.140 OPS in August, and he's been even better against Reds ace Johnny Cueto.
Insight: Cueto's credentials haven't fazed Jay. He's gone 10-for-21 (.476) with a double and three homers against the right-hander. He's a nice low-cost outfield option Wednesday.
Josh Hamilton, LF, ANACold8/20/2014 12:17:00 PM
Description: Angels left fielder Josh Hamilton went 0-for-3 in his return to the lineup Tuesday at Boston and he's just 2-for-22 (.091) with six Ks against Wednesday's starter Clay Buchholz.
Insight: Hamilton has gone 5-for-41 (.122) with 18 strikeouts in his last 11 games and he was out of the lineup Sunday and Monday at his own request in order to clear his head. He's not someone fantasy owners should be using right now even if he has a favorable matchup, which isn't the case Wednesday.
Mike Trout, CF, ANA 8/20/2014 12:09:00 PM
Description: Angels center fielder Mike Trout is 6-for-13 with two homers against Boston starter Clay Buchholz.
Insight: Trout has gone 4-for-11 with a double, a triple and two RBI over his last three games after running into a 4-for-37 (.108) slump prior to that. His strikeout rate is up from 19 percent last year to 24.8 percent this season which has contributed to his average dropping from .323 to .291. However, he's put up a much higher extra-base hit rate (12.2 percent in 2014, 10.5 percent in 2013) and is going to drive in more runs than he did in each of his first two seasons. He's a strong choice Wednesday against Buchholz.

Josh Hamilton, LF, ANACold8/19/2014 4:04:00 PM
Description: Angels left fielder Josh Hamilton is back in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Red Sox. He will hit cleanup.

Kevin Pillar, CF, TOR8/19/2014 2:41:00 PM
Description: Toronto minor league outfielder Kevin Pillar is hitting .327 in 391 at-bats this season at Triple-A Buffalo. In his last ten games, he is 14-for-39 (.359).
Insight: It seems unlikely that Pillar will be a September call up this year unless Toronto further falls out of playoff contention. Outfielders Melky Cabrera and Colby Rasmus will both be free agents at season's end, so Pillar will likely get his major league chance next season. It might make sense to let Cabrera leave via free agency since he plays the same position as Pillar, and Rasmus is a center fielder. Cabrera, however, is batting .316 while Rasmus is hitting .223.
Seth Smith, RF, SDPHot8/19/2014 11:46:00 AM

Adam Jones, CF, BAL8/19/2014 11:06:00 AM
Description: It is still a small sample size, but Orioles center fielder Adam Jones is hitting .556 with two home runs, three RBI and two walks in 11 plate appearances in his career against Chicago White Sox starter Jose Quintana.
Insight: Jones, however, is slumping in August, hitting just .224 with two home runs. This matchup could be just what the doctor ordered to get Jones in the groove again.
Kole Calhoun, RF, ANAHot8/18/2014 10:42:00 PM
Description: Angels right fielder Kole Calhoun reached base all four times he came to the plate Monday at Boston.

Insight: Heyward came into the game six for his last 35 (.171). He's hit 268 with 32 extra-base hits (10 HR), 47 RBI, 60 runs and 14 steals this season. Heyward's .157 average in 115 at-bats against left-handers is really dragging him down.

The earliest we're likely to see the 20-year-old in the majors is late 2015.
Matt Holliday, LF, STLCold8/18/2014 6:44:00 PM
Description: Cardinals left fielder Matt Holliday (knee) is in the lineup Monday.
Insight: Holliday sat out Sunday with knee discomfort. He's also gone 0-for-18 in his last five games, but his .393 average in 28 career at-bats against Reds starter Mike Leake makes him a solid option Monday.
Andrew McCutchen, CF, PIT8/18/2014 4:40:00 PM
Description: Pirates manager Clint Hurdle is "optimistic" that center fielder Andrew McCutchen (rib) will return Tuesday, according to Tom Singer of mlb.com

Description: Nationals right fielder Jayson Werth (shoulder inflammation) didn't start, but did get into the game as a pinch hitter and scored the game-winning run in the 11th inning. He'll return to the lineup Monday night.
Insight: Werth has struggled to match last season's totals and has dealt with injuries in August to further reduce his fantasy value. If healthy he can help over the final six weeks.
Jackie Bradley Jr., CF, BOSCold8/18/2014 3:47:00 PM
Description: Red Sox center fielder Jackie Bradley Jr. has been sent to the minors
Insight: Bradley has the glove to play in the majors, but we have yet to see a major-league or fantasy worthy performance at the plate. He's batting .216 this season with one home run, 22 extra-base hits, eight steals and a .578 OPS. Boston and fantasy owners need more from the outfield position.

Jay Bruce, RF, CIN8/18/2014 10:32:00 AM
Description: Reds right fielder Jay Bruce is a career 2-for-14 (.143) against Cardinals right-hander Justin Masterson.

Allen Craig, RF, BOS8/18/2014 10:28:00 AM
Description: Allen Craig will start his rehab assignment on Monday with Triple-A Pawtucket. The outfielder will likely spend two or three days with the minor league club.
Insight: Craig has been suffering from foot problems since late 2013 and until he proves he is healthy on the field, Craig does not hold much fantasy value. The outfielder is a career .291 hitter but is batting just .237 this season with St. Louis and Boston.
Matt Holliday, LF, STLCold8/18/2014 10:22:00 AM
Description: Cardinals left fielder Matt Holliday missed Sunday's game and is questionable for Monday versus Cincinnati while dealing with knee discomfort.
Insight: He could also have been given the day off because he's hitless in his last five games. He's batting .260 with 12 HR and 59 RBI, well below what we've come to expect from the six-time All-Star.
Nelson Cruz, LF, BAL8/18/2014 10:11:00 AM

Jayson Werth, RF, WAS8/18/2014 9:32:00 AM
Description: Nationals right fielder Jayson Werth (shoulder inflammation) didn't start, but did get into the game as a pinch hitter and scored the game-winning run in the 11th inning.

Description: Rockies outfielder Drew Stubbs capped a huge comeback with a game-winning three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Description: Miami right fielder Giancarlo Stanton blasted his 32nd home run of the season and knocked in four to post a career high of 88 RBI.

Rajai Davis, CF, DET8/17/2014 4:42:00 PM
Description: Tigers center fielder Rajai Davis couldn't produce a hit, a run, or an RBI, but still was a valuable fantasy outfielder.
Insight: That's because Davis managed to steal three bases. He's hitting .289 with six homers, 48 runs and 30 steals mostly as a part-time player.
Steve Pearce, RF, NYY8/17/2014 4:36:00 PM
Description: After a long dry spell, Orioles 1B/OF Steve Pearce finally put one over the wall.
Insight: Pearce had gone 19 games without hitting a home run and batting an ugly .155 to boot. A far cry from his .309 May with four homers and .361 June with five homers. It's not yet time to jump back on the bandwagon, but at least we know he's trying.
Josh Hamilton, LF, ANA8/17/2014 1:56:00 PM
Description: Angels left fielder Josh Hamilton is not in Sunday's starting lineup. Collin Cowgill will get the start in right field.
Insight: No injury that we know of, just a routine day off. Cowgill is batting .271 this season with five homers and a .745 OPS in 192 at-bats so has limited fantasy appeal.
Michael Taylor, RF, WAS8/17/2014 1:50:00 PM
Description: Nationals 23-year-old outfielder Michael Taylor will get at least one more day as a starter with Jayson Werth still sidelined by the shoulder injury.

Stephen Vogt, OF, OAKHot8/16/2014 10:26:00 PM

Avisail Garcia, RF, CWS8/16/2014 3:35:00 PM
Description: White Sox right fielder Avisail Garcia (torn labrum) has been activated from the 60-day disabled list.
Insight: Garcia was ruled out for the season in April when he suffered a torn labrum, but he's recovered from surgery more quickly than expected. Garcia is still just 23 years old and could be a decent AL-only option down the stretch.
Carlos Beltran, RF, NYYCold8/16/2014 2:47:00 PM
Description: Carlos Beltran will play the field for the first time since May 10 on Saturday, according to Sweeny Murti of WFAN.
Insight: Beltran has been relegated to a DH role due to an elbow injury, but he's been feeling much better. He's gone 1-for-18 in his last five games, but moving back to right field could help him focus on something other than his hitting struggles. Description: Angels center fielder Mike Trout has gone 4-for-32 (.125) with 11 Ks the past three games.
Insight: Two of the hits were home runs and he drove in five runs during that stretch, but daily league players should consider other options Saturday. Trout is always one of the most expensive players and you can't afford to eat up a significant portion of your salary with a player who is on a bad run.
Kole Calhoun, RF, ANAHot8/16/2014 12:21:00 PM
Description: Angels right fielder Kole Calhoun should receive strong consideration from fantasy owners Saturday against the Rangers.
Insight: Calhoun went 3-for-4 wih a double, a homer and three RBI Friday and is 13-for-29 (.448) with three doubles, two homers and five RBI his last six games.
