Evan Longoria is one of six players with a Top-25 in ADP and OFP.
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) -
We're just past the quarter of a season mark and I thought it might be interesting to compare the Top 25 hitters, using preseason Average Draft Position (ADP), versus how they have performed on the field to date.
As you can see, nine of the top-25 have failed to crack the Top-100 in on-field production. But if we look closer, we should note that Jose Reyes, Josh Hamilton, Alex Rodriguez, Manny Ramirez, Carlos Quentin and Brandon Phillips have spent time on the disabled or suspended list.
Still, a Top-25 ADP means we expect them to put up top-25 fantasy points and only Albert Pujols, David Wright, Miguel Cabrera, Ian Kinsler, Carlos Beltran and Evan Longoria have done that. That's six of 25 if your counting - 24%! Not very good fantasy owners.
There is still plenty of time to reverse the trend and some of these guys are hot weather and second-half hitters. So don't panic...at least not until the All-Star game. If they haven't turned it around by then, it's time to worry and perhaps trade.
