Philadelphia Eagles Player Notes
For The Last 365 Days

Riley Cooper, WR12/20/2014 7:48:00 PM
Description: Eagles receiver Riley Cooper caught two otwo touchdowns during Week 16.
Insight: Cooper has been disappointing all season long, but managed to have a nice afternoon on Saturday. He had five receptions for 53 yards.
Jeremy Maclin, WR12/20/2014 7:47:00 PM
Description: Eagles receiver Jeremy Maclin had four catches for 62 yards during Saturday's defeat to the Redskins.
Insight: Not what fantasy owners wanted out of a WR1 during the championship round.
Zach Ertz, TE12/20/2014 7:46:00 PM
Description: Eagles tight end Zach Ertz caught a franchise record 15 passes during Saturday's loss versus Washington.
Insight: He had 115 yards and 18 targets. Owners have been looking for this production all season long.
LeSean McCoy, RB12/20/2014 7:45:00 PM
Description: Eagles running back LeSean McCoy totaled over 100 yards and a touchdown on Saturday.
Insight: He had 22 carries for 88 yards and three catches for 28 yards. McCoy will continue to be an RB1 for Week 17 against the Giants.
Mark Sanchez, QB12/20/2014 7:44:00 PM
Description: Eagles quarterback Mark Sanchez played very well during Week 16's loss to the Redskins.
Insight: He was 37-of-50 for 374 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Sanchez also lost a fumble, but it was a nice fantasy day nevertheless.
LeSean McCoy, RB12/18/2014 4:57:00 PM
Description: Eagles running back LeSean McCoy admitted to CSN Philadelphia that backup running back Chris Polk is taking over as the team's goal-line runner.
Insight: Polk played just three snaps versus the Cowboys in Week 15, but he scored on two of them. Another goal-line carry went to Darren Sproles who scored. McCoy will continue to lead the team in rushing, but the emergence of Polk and the addition of Sproles as significantly hurt McCoy's value.
Trent Cole, DE12/16/2014 11:23:00 AM
Description: Eagles DL Trent Cole (hand) is unlikely to play in Week 16, according to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Insight: Brandon Graham has played well in his role and should fill in just fine for Cole with no loss of production.
Nick Foles, QB12/15/2014 1:39:00 PM
Description: Eagles quarterback Nick Foles' collarbone is healing normally, but he has not been cleared and will not play in Week 16, according to coach Chip Kelly.
Insight: Mark Sanchez is showing why he's a backup quarterback and not a starter, but he'll have to turn things around in Week 16 if the Eagles are to have any chance to reach the playoffs.
Riley Cooper, WRCold12/15/2014 9:58:00 AM
Description: Eagles receiver Riley Cooper caught two of four targets for 17 yards against Dallas Sunday night.
Insight: The Eagles will need a better receiver opposite Jeremy Maclin next season. Cooper has proven that last season's numbers (47-835-8) were a fluke by posting completely forgettable statistics all season long.
Jordan Matthews, WRCold12/15/2014 9:55:00 AM
Description: Eagles rookie receiver Jordan Matthews was a non-factor for a second consecutive weekend.
Insight: He was targeted just one time and couldn't come up with it. What happened to the guy who posted back-to-back games with over 100-yards earlier in the year?
Jeremy Maclin, WR12/15/2014 9:54:00 AM
Description: Eagles receiver Jeremy Maclin disappointed fantasy owners on two levels with his four-catch, 98-yard evening.
Insight: Maclin's 72-yard reception didn't find the end zone finish one yard short of the goal line and the Eagles No. 1 wideout came up two yards short of the 100-yard receiving bonus.
Mark Sanchez, QBCold12/15/2014 9:50:00 AM
Description: Eagles quarterback Mark Sanchez proved once again why he's a backup quarterback.
Insight: Sanchez threw for 252 yards, but didn't throw a touchdown pass and was picked off two times. He's yet to come up with a good effort in a big game and come next season should be back in a reserve role.
Darren Sproles, RB12/15/2014 9:48:00 AM
Description: Eagles running back Darren Sproles scored a touchdown from a yard out in Sunday night's loss to Dallas.
Insight: Sproles only had five touches on offense and one punt return, so his fantasy value is limited.
Chris Polk, RB12/15/2014 9:46:00 AM
Description: Eagles backup running back Chris Polk appears to be the goal line back.
Insight: Polk scored twice inside the 5-yard line. He's not going to get any significant yards based on current usage, but he could be a consistent touchdown maker. At the moment he's just a pain in the side of LeSean McCoy owners.
LeSean McCoy, RBCold12/15/2014 9:43:00 AM
Description: Eagles running back LeSean McCoy saw 17 touches and produced just 65 yards.
Insight: McCoy just isn't producing and with Darren Sproles catching more passes and Chris Polk the goal line back, McCoy's fantasy value has taken a significant hit.
Jordan Matthews, WRCold12/8/2014 10:30:00 AM
Description: Eagles rookie receiver Jordan Matthews was a non-factor against Seattle.
Insight: He caught two of five targets for 23 yards. Matthews is still a WR2 with plenty of upside as a mark Sanchez favorite.
Jeremy Maclin, WR12/8/2014 10:28:00 AM
Description: Eagles receiver Jeremy Maclin caught a one-yard touchdown pass which helped what was a throughly disappointing day for the Eagles passing offense.
Insight: Maclin had three receptions for 21 yards on six targets.
Mark Sanchez, QBCold12/8/2014 10:25:00 AM
Description: Eagles quarterback Mark Sanchez was extremely ugly in this one, getting nothing going on the offensive side of the ball.
Insight: Sanchez threw for just 96 yards and the offense managed a season-low 139 yards. The Seahawks offense is good, but not that good. Sanchez missed a number of passes.
LeSean McCoy, RBCold12/8/2014 10:22:00 AM
Description: Eagles running back LeSean McCoy saw 17 touches and produced just 50 yards. He also lost a fumble.
Insight: McCoy's longest run was just 10 yards and he wasn't involved in the passing game. Isn't running with screen passes one of the best ways to get McCoy some open space?
Nick Foles, QB11/29/2014 8:37:00 PM
Description: Eagles quarterback Nick Foles' collarbone is healing normally and is expected to be cleared in two-to-four weeks according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Insight: This might have more of an effect on Mark Sanchez owners than Foles owners. Even if Foles returns for Week 15, it will be difficult to trust him coming back from injury during the fantasy playoffs. If he returns in four weeks, most fantasy leagues are over. The only situation where this would be fantasy relevant is if Foles returns in Week 15 or 16 and Sanchez owners need to find a different quarterback.
Mark Sanchez, QB11/27/2014 7:59:00 PM
Description: Eagles quarterback Mark Sanchez was extremely efficient in Thursday's win over the Cowboys.
Insight: He did not have to do much in the second half, after throwing for 202 yards in the first half. Sanchez finished the day 20-of-29 of 217 yards and one touchdown, along with five carries for 29 yards and another score. He is a QB1 in Philadelphia's offense.
LeSean McCoy, RB11/27/2014 7:57:00 PM
Description: Eagles running back LeSean McCoy silenced his critics on Thursday.
Insight: He had 25 carries for 159 yards and a touchdown, and simply looks as elusive as ever.
Jeremy Maclin, WR11/27/2014 7:56:00 PM
Description: Eagles receiver Jeremy Maclin went over 1,000 yards for the first time in his career.
Insight: Maclin had eight receptions for 108 yards, on 10 targets. His biggest play came on a 59-yard catch in the first half. Maclin is a WR1 for the rest of the season.
Jordan Matthews, WR11/27/2014 7:55:00 PM
Description: Eagles rookie receiver Jordan Matthews continued to be a favorite of Mark Sanchez.
Insight: He had four catches for 51 yards and a touchdown. Matthews is a WR3 with WR2 upside.
Zach Ertz, TE11/24/2014 2:58:00 PM
Description: Eagles tight end Zach Ertz appeared to injure an oblique after catching a ball in the first quarter on Sunday, but was back on the practice field Monday.
Insight: Ertz and the Eagles play a huge game at Dallas on Thanksgiving Day. He hasn't lived up to expectations this season as he's been limited to certain packages and not an every down tight end.
Jeremy Maclin, WR11/23/2014 7:40:00 PM
Description: Eagles receiver Jeremy Maclin recorded six catches for 59 yards in Sunday's victory.
Insight: Maclin has produced as much under Mark Sanchez, but is still a WR1 in this high-octane offense.
Jordan Matthews, WR11/23/2014 7:39:00 PM
Description: Eagles rookie receiver Jordan Matthews had a team-high 77 yards in Week 12.
Insight: Matthews had six grabs and continues to be a favorite of Mark Sanchez. He is a borderline WR2.
Darren Sproles, RB11/23/2014 7:37:00 PM
Description: Eagles running back Darren Sproles scored a touchdown in Sunday's win over Tennessee.
Insight: Sproles had six carries for 25 yards and three catches for 14 yards. He is dependent on scoring a touchdown for a valauble fantasy day.
LeSean McCoy, RB11/23/2014 7:36:00 PM
Description: Eagles running back LeSean McCoy rushed for 130 yards and a touchdown in Week 12.
Insight: That's more like it. McCoy rushed 21 times for a 6.2 yards per carry average. He will maintain his RB1 value for Week 13 against Dallas.
Mark Sanchez, QB11/23/2014 7:35:00 PM
Description: Eagles quarterback Mark Sanchez threw for 307 yards in Sunday's win over the Titans.
Insight: He had one touchdown and two interceptions, but seems to fit in well in Chip Kelly's offense. Sanchez is a borderline QB1 as long as he remains the starter.
Zach Ertz, TE11/23/2014 2:19:00 PM
Description: Eagles tight end Zach Ertz appeared to injure an oblique after catching a ball in the first quarter.
Insight: Update - Ertz has returned. Ertz hasn't lived up to expectations this season as he's been limited to certain packages and not an every down tight end.
Zach Ertz, TE11/17/2014 9:50:00 AM
Description: Eagles tight end Zach Ertz caught four of six targets for 55 yards against Green Bay.
Insight: It's the two that got away that hurt as he was open and Mark Sanchez couldn't hit him.
Jeremy Maclin, WR11/17/2014 9:48:00 AM
Description: Eagles receiver Jeremy Maclin returned to stud status after a quiet game last weekend.
Insight: Maclin was targeted a team-high 11 times and caught nine for 93 yards and a touchdown. The worry from last weekend should be gone.
Jordan Matthews, WRHot11/17/2014 9:46:00 AM
Description: Eagles rookie receiver Jordan Matthews is clearly a Mark Sanchez favorite, particularly on crossing patterns.
Insight: Matthews caught five balls for 107 yards and a touchdown giving him a two-week total of 245 yards and three scores. He's a very good option moving forward.
LeSean McCoy, RB11/17/2014 9:45:00 AM
Description: Eagles running back LeSean McCoy ran solidly, though unspectacularly in totaling 106 yards from scrimmage.
Insight: McCoy rushed 23 times for 88 yards, but doesn't look as explosive as last season. He's also not a part of the passing game with the addition of Darren Sproles.
Mark Sanchez, QB11/17/2014 9:43:00 AM
Description: Eagles quarterback Mark Sanchez missed a lot of open receivers Sunday against Green Bay, but in the Chip Kelly up tempo offense he still managed to post solid fantasy numbers.
Insight: Sanchez went 26-of-44 for 346 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions, but he was no match for Aaron Rodgers and the Packers.
Brent Celek, TE11/11/2014 11:56:00 AM
Description: Philadelphia tight end Brent Celek caught a season-high five balls for 116 yards.
Insight: Considering he had just 90 yards for the season, this came out of the blue and is likely a one-time thing that fantasy owners can't take advantage of. Zach Ertz is still the team's receiving tight end, though the emergence of Matthews could spell doom for all Eagles TEs down the stretch.
Jordan Matthews, WRHot11/11/2014 10:54:00 AM
Description: Eagles rookie receiver Jordan Matthews posted monster numbers Monday night: 7-138-2.
Insight: Matthews was a Sanchez favorite in the preseason, so it shouldn't be a surprise that he looked his way in his first start. We'd like to see if this was just a matter of the Panthers defense open to crossing patterns or the Sanchez-to-Matthews hookup is for real. We should find out next weekend in Green Bay.
Jeremy Maclin, WR11/11/2014 10:52:00 AM
Description: Eagles receiver Jeremy Maclin was a forgotten man Monday night.
Insight: Maclin was targeted seven times, but caught just three for 38 yards while Jordan Matthews was the receiving star. Maclin owners hope it's just a one-time thing and he'll get back on his hot streak.
Mark Sanchez, QBHot11/11/2014 10:48:00 AM
Description: Backup quarterback turned starter Mark Sanchez was everything Eagles fans and fantasy owners could have wanted.
Insight: Sanchez went 20-of-37 for 332 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. To be sure, he still threw a few poor passes that could have been intercepted, but he looked very comfortable in the Chip Kelly offense.
LeSean McCoy, RB11/11/2014 10:46:00 AM
Description: Eagles running back LeSean McCoy had a quiet night to the disappointment of his fantasy owners.
Insight: McCoy rushed for just 19 yards on 12 carries. The Eagles featured the Mark Sanchez and the passing game for most of the evening and it was working so they didn't work their star running back.
Darren Sproles, RB11/11/2014 10:42:00 AM
Description: Eagles running back Darren Sproles has been the "special" in the Eagles special teams.
Insight: Sproles returned a Carolina punt 65 yards for a touchdown Monday night. he is averaging a league-leading 17.0 ypr this season. He also rushed for a score.
Evan Mathis, G11/5/2014 10:49:00 AM
Description: Eagles guard Evan Mathis (knee) has been activated from injured reserve/designated for return.
Insight: This is the best news the Eagles have gotten overthe past few days. He will slide back into the left guard position, and Matt Tobin will likely will the spot of the injured Todd Herremans.
Todd Herremans, G11/4/2014 6:32:00 PM
Description: Eagles right guard Todd Herremans (biceps, ankle) has been placed on injured reserve, ending his season.
Insight: He tore his biceps muscle two weeks ago and injured his ankle in Sunday's win, but it is unclear which injury officially sidelined Herremans. Nevertheless, the Eagles will be without a key member of the offensive line, for the rest of the season. However, fellow offensive line member Evan Mathis is expected to be activated to take Herremans' roster spot.
Nick Foles, QB11/3/2014 5:14:00 PM
Description: Eagles quarterback Nick Foles (collarbone) does not need surgery, according to FOX Sports' Mike Garafolo.
Insight: The Eagles are hoping he returns in six weeks, which would give Foles to chance to play in Week 15 or 16. Until then, Mark Sanchez should be picked in all leagues.
Mark Sanchez, QB11/3/2014 11:09:00 AM
Description: Backup quarterback Mark Sanchez appears to be the Eagles starter for the next month or two with Nick Foles suffering an apparent broken collarbone.
Insight: Eagles fans and fantasy owners are hoping Sanchez will be a "plug and play" option who can handle the Chip Kelly offense. I offer no guarantees, but he did throw for 202 yards and a pair of touchdowns in his relief role Sunday.
Nick Foles, QB11/3/2014 11:04:00 AM
Description: Eagles quarterback Nick Foles has a broken collarbone, according to Comcast Philadelphia source, reports Derrick Gunn.
Insight: That's a 4-8 week recovery time. It appears Mark Sanchez will be the Eagles quarterback for the next few months.
Zach Ertz, TE11/2/2014 6:18:00 PM
Description: Eagles tight end Zach Ertz is one of the most frustrating fantasy tight ends in the league.
Insight: The Eagles coaching staff hyped up Ertz in preseason to be the next Jimmy Graham. Although that may be an exaggeration, there is certainly a lot of talent there, but Chip Kelly rarely calls his number. Ertz received two targets and made one catch for four yards in Week 9.
Jordan Matthews, WR11/2/2014 6:13:00 PM
Description: Eagles rookie receiver Jordan Matthews had just four targets and made three catches against the Texans.
Insight: Matthews did catch a touchdown to turn in a pretty solid fantasy day. It will be interesting to see if Mark Sanchez favors Matthews at all over Jeremy Maclin if Nick Foles has to miss significant time. It is hard to argue anyone would be favored over Maclin with the tear that he is on right now.
Jeremy Maclin, WRHot11/2/2014 6:09:00 PM
Description: Eagles receiver Jeremy Maclin had another huge day and is perhaps the best mid-round draft selection this season.
Insight: Maclin went for another 150-plus yards and scored two touchdowns against the Texans in Week 9. That gives him 790 receiving yards and eight touchdowns in eight games.
LeSean McCoy, RB11/2/2014 6:06:00 PM
Description: Eagles running back LeSean McCoy failed to find the end zone for the sixth straight game.
Insight: McCoy did have an excellent game, rushing for 117 yards on 23 carries, but without the touchdowns, McCoy cannot live up to his first-round hype. He has one touchdown this season.
Mark Sanchez, QB11/2/2014 5:58:00 PM
Description: Eagles backup quarterback Mark Sanchez came on in relief and led Philadelphia to victory.
Insight: Sanchez threw for 202 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. His touchdown to Jeremy Maclin with less than four minutes left sealed the victory. There is no official word on Nick Foles' injury yet, but the Philadelphia Inquirer is speculating it is a broken collarbone. That would make Sanchez the starter the next several weeks.
Nick Foles, QB11/2/2014 5:48:00 PM
Description: Eagles quarterback Nick Foles left the field early on against Houston and did not return.
Insight: NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting the injury is to his clavicle. If broken, he'll be out for a significant length of time, but we await official word.
Nick Foles, QB11/2/2014 2:43:00 PM
Description: Eagles quarterback Nick Foles left the field early on against Houston and did not return.
Insight: NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting the injury is to his clavicle. If broken, he'll be out for a significant length of time, but we await official word.
Nick Foles, QB11/2/2014 1:43:00 PM
Description: Eagles quarterback Nick Foles has gone to the locker room with an apparent left shoulder injury.
Insight: Foles showed us the good and the bad before leaving. A long TD pass to Jeremy Maclin and a pick-six. His return is questionable.
Nate Allen, FS11/2/2014 12:25:00 PM
Description: Eagles safety Nate Allen is inactive for Week 9.
Insight: Normally losing a starting safety would be a bad thing, but Allen hasn't played very well this season. Earl Wolff is expected to take the starting role.
Darren Sproles, RB11/2/2014 11:53:00 AM
Description: Eagles running back Darren Sproles (slight MCL tear in his left knee) is active for Week 9,
Insight: Sproles and running mate LeSean McCoy will have as healthy an offensive line as they have had all season and both could yield decent fantasy numbers.
Darren Sproles, RB10/31/2014 2:29:00 PM
Description: Eagles running back Darren Sproles (slight MCL tear in his left knee) has practiced all week and should be playing Sunday.
Insight: Sproles and running mate LeSean McCoy will have as healthy an offensive line as they have had all season and both could yield decent fantasy numbers.
Todd Herremans, G10/28/2014 4:48:00 PM
Description: Eagles right guard Todd Herremans has been diagnosed with a torn left biceps, but his plan is to keep playing.
Insight: Offensive line injures have decimated the Eagles this season, but at least fellow interior linemen Jason Kelce and Evan Mathis are getting ready to return to the starting lineup. Herremans likely won't make it through the whole season playing with a torn biceps. We will keep an eye on this situation for LeSean McCoy owners.
Jason Kelce, C10/28/2014 3:37:00 PM
Description: Eagle center Jason Kelce practice said he would be a game-time decision for the Week 9 matchup against Houston
Insight: Kelce would be an immediate upgrade in the middle of the Philadelphia offensive line, which has really struggled without him. LeSean McCoy owners cannot wait for Kelce to get back on the field and neither can Nick Foles owners.
Jordan Matthews, WR10/27/2014 10:53:00 AM
Description: Eagles rookie receiver Jordan Matthews saw 11 targets in Sunday's game against Arizona.
Insight: Given that many opportunities, we would have liked to see more than six receptions for 47 yards. But then he's a rookie and that's what rookies do.
Jeremy Maclin, WRHot10/27/2014 10:50:00 AM
Description: Eagles receiver Jeremy Maclin was a huge factor in this one with a dozen receptions for 187 yards and two touchdowns.
Insight: Maclin has been Foles' favorite target for most of the season. In this one his usually low percentage of receptions was a solid 75 percent and he produced in a big way.
LeSean McCoy, RB10/27/2014 10:48:00 AM
Description: Eagles running back LeSean McCoy was given 21 carries and saw five targets, but only produced a combined 97 yards and didn't get into the end zone.
Insight: Not horrible, but not what we need from a top-three fantasy selection.
Nick Foles, QB10/27/2014 10:46:00 AM
Description: Eagles quarterback Nick Foles threw the ball a stunning 62 times in a 24-20 loss to Arizona.
Insight: Foles is still struggling with turnovers and it looks bad after last season's 27-2 TD-to-interception ratio, but he's still putting up decent fantasy numbers. Sunday he threw for 411 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions.
Darren Sproles, RB10/26/2014 2:44:00 PM
Description: Eagles running back Darren Sproles (slight MCL tear in his left knee) was hoping to get back for the Cardinals game, but he's been declared inactive.
Insight: Sproles' absence will yield time for Chris Polk, though he won't be fantasy worthy.
Jason Kelce, C10/24/2014 10:36:00 PM
Description: Eagle center Jason Kelce practice in full on Friday and is questionable for Week 8 against the Cardinals.
Insight: Kelce is still not expected to play this Sunday, but he is on pace to return next week. He will be an immediate upgrade in the middle of the Philadelphia offensive line, which has really struggled without him. LeSean McCoy owners cannot wait for Kelce to get back on the field.
Darren Sproles, RB10/22/2014 11:18:00 AM
Description: Eagles running back Darren Sproles (slight MCL tear in his left knee) "appears likely" to play in Week 8's contest against Arizona, according to CSN Philadelphia.
Insight: Sproles dodged a bullet by not tearing his ACL, and after getting through Tuesday's practice, it looks like he has a good chance to suit up. Sproles is getting just 5.5 touches per game, so if owners have better options, he is a player that can be kept on the bench.
Jason Kelce, C10/21/2014 12:44:00 PM
Description: According to Geoff Mosher of CSNPhilly, Eagles starting center Jason Kelce is practicing Tuesday. His original target date wasn't until Week 10.
Insight: Kelce was rated as one of the best centers in 2013. As the Eagles offensive line gets healthier/stronger, Nick Foles, his receivers and LeSean McCoy's numbers should significantly improve.
Mychal Kendricks, LB10/21/2014 12:40:00 PM
Description: Eagles linebacker Mychal Kendricks is practicing and is on pace to play for the first time since Week 2.
Insight: Kendricks' return would be a huge improvement on the defensive side of the ball.
Darren Sproles, RB10/21/2014 12:38:00 PM
Description: Eagles running back Darren Sproles (slight MCL tear in his left knee) was practicing Tuesday, according to Geoff Mosher of CSNPhilly.
Insight: It was a 2-3 week timetable and it appears in may come out on the low side. It will be important to see how he feels on Wednesday and that he continues to improve over the week of practice.
Jordan Matthews, WR10/13/2014 4:57:00 PM
Description: Eagles rookie receiver Jordan Matthews had four catches Sunday night against the Giants.
Insight: He totaled 50 yards on six targets, and has become a reliable option for Nick Foles. Matthews' impact on the field does not necessarily translate over to fantasy production, but he should be considered a low-end WR3. With bye weeks continuing through Week 12, there are far worse options out there.
Darren Sproles, RB10/13/2014 1:13:00 PM
Description: Eagles running back Darren Sproles, who left Sunday night's game, has a slight MCL tear in his left knee, according to Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer
Insight: It's apparently a 2-3 week timetable for his return. The only good news is the Eagles have their bye next week so Sproles will have a couple of weeks to get healthy and may miss only one or at most two games.
Zach Ertz, TE10/13/2014 10:03:00 AM
Description: Eagles tight end Zach Ertz scored for the first time since the season opener.
Insight: Ertz has made some clutch catches this season, but his fantasy totals haven't reflected that. He's seeing just over five targets per game, but has yet to do much with them.
Riley Cooper, WR10/13/2014 10:01:00 AM
Description: Eagles receiver Riley Cooper was targeted a team-high seven times, but his five receptions for 59 yards won't excite fantasy owners.
Insight: The Eagles two touchdown passes went to tight ends Zach Ertz and James Casey, but at least Cooper was more involved than in past games.
Jeremy Maclin, WR10/13/2014 9:59:00 AM
Description: Eagles receiver Jeremy Maclin was a non-factor in Sunday's game against the Giants, catching just two of three targets for 16 yards.
Insight: Maclin has been Foles' favorite target for most of the season and we suspect this was just a product of the Giants defense.
LeSean McCoy, RB10/13/2014 9:57:00 AM
Description: Eagles running back LeSean McCoy finally broke out with a 149-yard effort against the Gioants Sunday night.
Insight: He didn't get into the end zone, but he ran like we have come to expect for the first time this season. Not unrelated, the Eagles offensive line dominated the Giants defensive line.
Nick Foles, QB10/13/2014 9:53:00 AM
Description: Eagles quarterback Nick Foles completed 21-of-34 passes for 248 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.
Insight: Foles obviously is struggling with turnovers and it looks bad after last season's 27-2 TD-to-interception ratio, but he's still putting up decent fantasy numbers.
Darren Sproles, RB10/12/2014 11:43:00 AM
Description: Eagles running back Darren Sproles left Sunday night's game with a left knee injury.
Insight: No word on how serious, but we should know in the next few days. The only good news is the Eagles have their bye next week so Sproles will have a couple of weeks to get healthy.
Mychal Kendricks, LB10/7/2014 12:56:00 PM
Description: Eagles linebacker Mychal Kendricks returned to practice Tuesday, according to a Philadelphia Inquirer report.
Insight: Kendricks' return would be a huge improvement on the defensive side of the ball, particularly against the run.
Jeremy Maclin, WR10/5/2014 5:26:00 PM
Description: Eagles receiver Jeremy Maclin continues to put up solid numbers, though it takes a lot of targets.
Insight: Maclin is Foles' favorite target, but we don't like his reception percentage. Again he caught less than 50 percent of the throws to him (5-of-11), but put up 76 yards and a score.
LeSean McCoy, RB10/5/2014 5:23:00 PM
Description: Eagles running back LeSean McCoy was improved over last week. He rushed for 81 yards on 24 carries against St. Louis.
Insight: Not great, but at least he's headed in the right direction.
Jeremy Maclin, WR10/5/2014 12:11:00 PM
Description: Eagles receiver Jeremy Maclin has been dealing with a slight hamstring injury, but is active for Week 5 as expected.
Insight: Maclin is Foles' favorite target, but we don't like his reception percentage. He's caught 20 of 46 targets (43.5 percent) this season.
Mychal Kendricks, LB10/2/2014 11:14:00 AM
Description: Eagles linebacker Mychal Kendricks has yet to practice and he's questionable for Week 5 versus St. Louis. Casey Matthews is likely to be the primary replacement.
Insight: Kendricks' absence would be a blow to the Eagles run defense and could signal a big day for Zac Stacy.
Lane Johnson, OT9/29/2014 11:11:00 AM
Description: The Eagles will get some needed help for their injured offensive line with the return of Lane Johnson from his four-game suspension.
Insight: LeSean McCoy owners hope this is the start of his getting back to running the ball.
Jeremy Maclin, WRCold9/29/2014 10:48:00 AM
Description: Eagles receiver Jeremy Maclin caught just five of 16 targets for 68 yards and no touchdowns.
Insight: Maclin was again Foles' favorite target, but we don't like his reception percentage. He's caught 21 of 47 targets (44.6 percent) this season.
LeSean McCoy, RBCold9/29/2014 10:45:00 AM
Description: Eagles running back LeSean McCoy rushed for just 17 yards on 10 carries against San Francisco.
Insight: Seventeen rushing yards and no receiving yards, this is becoming an ugly trend. He's yet to rush for 80 yards in a game and has one touchdown. That's not what fantasy owners paid high dollar for on draft day. Hopefully the Eagles injured offensive line will get healthier and open some holes.
Nick Foles, QB9/29/2014 10:42:00 AM
Description: Eagles quarterback Nick Foles completed 21-of-43 passes for just 195 yards and two interceptions.
Insight: OK, everyone is allowed a bad day now and then ... except Peyton Manning. Foles couldn't do anything on offense and still had a chance to win the game on the final drive, but came up short. Credit the 49ers defense and move on.
Jordan Matthews, WR9/28/2014 3:28:00 PM
Description: Eagles rookie receiver Jordan Matthews had a breakout game against the Redskins in Week 3 and is active in Week 4 after dealing with an oblique injury.
Insight: Matthews caught eight passes for 59 yards and two touchdowns. It's obvious he's going to take over for Riley Cooper very soon. His fantasy value will still be up and down as is the case with most rookies, but we like where its headed.
Jason Kelce, C9/22/2014 12:44:00 PM
Description: According to Geoff Mosher of CSNPhilly, Eagles starting center Jason Kelce is practicing Tuesday. His original target date wasn't until Week 10.
Insight: Kelce was rated as one of the best centers in 2013. As the Eagles offensive line gets healthier/stronger, Nick Foles, his receivers and LeSean McCoy's numbers should significantly improve.
Jordan Matthews, WR9/21/2014 5:35:00 PM
Description: Eagles rookie receiver Jordan Matthews had a breakout game against the Redskins in Week 3.
Insight: Matthews caught eight passes for 59 yards and two touchdowns. Foles targeted him nine times and at least for this game, Foles favorited Matthews over receiver Riley Cooper. If Matthews does move into the role of Foles' second favorite target, his value will rise dramatically, but keep your expectations for Matthews in check. There aren't going to many days where LeSean McCoy, Darren Sproles and Zack Ertz combine for just 86 yards.
Jeremy Maclin, WR9/21/2014 5:26:00 PM
Description: Eagles receiver Jeremy Maclin caught eight passes for 154 yards and a touchdown against the Redskins on Sunday.
Insight: Maclin was again Foles' favorite target with 10 targets. Washington did a great job of stopping the Eagles running attack, but they could not slow down the Eagle receivers from getting wide open on the seam route. Maclin's touchdown pass put Philadelphia ahead for good.
Nick Foles, QB9/21/2014 5:18:00 PM
Description: Eagles quarterback Nick Foles completed 28-of-42 passes for 325 yards and three touchdowns in a victory over the Redskins, 37-34.
Insight: This was probably Foles best game of the season. He was particularly impressive considering the Eagles finished the game without four opening day starting offensive lineman. Foles took a tremendous amount of hits but stood in the pocket to lead the Eagles to a 3-0 start.
LeSean McCoy, RB9/21/2014 1:43:00 PM
Description: Eagles running back LeSean McCoy left Sunday's game against the Redskins after suffering a helmet to helmet hit on his second carry of the game. UPDATE: McCoy has returned to the game after doctors cleared him of a concussion.
Insight: It took McCoy a few minutes to get up, but he did jog off the field. Shortly afterward, it looked like McCoy wanted to come back into the game, but team doctors were arguing with McCoy, likely telling him he has to go through the concussion protocol. In the meantime, Darren Sproles' value continues to go up.
Zach Ertz, TE9/21/2014 11:35:00 AM
Description: Eagles tight end Zach Ertz is active for Sunday's game against the Redskins.
Insight: Ertz was added to the injury report on Thursday, but did not miss any practice time this week. He should see lots of targets.
Mychal Kendricks, LB9/19/2014 3:54:00 PM
Description: Eagles linebacker Mychal Kendricks is out for Sunday's game with Washington. Casey Matthews is likely to be the primary replacement.
Insight: Kendricks' absence is a blow to the Eagles run defense and a boon for Redskins tailback Alfred Morris.
Riley Cooper, WRCold9/16/2014 9:20:00 AM
Description: Eagles receiver Riley Cooper has become a non-factor in the offense through the first two games.
Insight: Cooper did have a good chance to haul in a touchdown pass Monday night, but saw just three targets. Quarterback Nick Foles isn't looking his way very often and fantasy owners are going to have to find a wideout help elsewhere.
Zach Ertz, TE9/16/2014 9:15:00 AM
Description: Eagles tight end Zach Ertz is becoming one of the team's go-to-guys in clutch situations.
Insight: He is a low-end TE1 that can provide some excellent value as he's averaging 81.5 ypg through the first two contests. The Eagles are using multiple tight end formations that allowed Ertz to be on the field 76 percent of the time.
Jeremy Maclin, WR9/16/2014 9:13:00 AM
Description: Eagles receiver Jeremy Maclin saw 11 targets Monday night, but could only come up with four receptions.
Insight: Maclin posted 45 receiving yards and a score, so made it to double-digits, but too many missed connections are concerning.
LeSean McCoy, RB9/16/2014 9:11:00 AM
Description: Eagles running back LeSean McCoy is getting his 20 carries, but has yet to break out for the big fantasy numbers.
Insight: This could be the "new reality" caused by the addition of Darren Sproles, who has become too valuable to keep off the field. We will keep on top of McCoy's usage moving forward to see if he continues at this new, lower, production level. McCoy is averaging 108.5 ypg from scrimmage this season versus 134.1 in 2013.
Darren Sproles, RBHot9/16/2014 9:05:00 AM
Description: Eagles running back Darren Sproles had another productive weekend, posting 178 combined yards and a touchdown.
Insight: We are now seeing how coach Chip Kelly envisioned using the back along with his star tailback LeSean McCoy. Sproles' fantasy owners can start him each week as a reliable fantasy option. Through the first two weeks he's already totaled 263 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns
Nick Foles, QB9/16/2014 9:00:00 AM
Description: Eagles quarterback Nick Foles put up nice numbers Monday night and his fantasy owners should personally thank Darren Sproles.
Insight: Foles wasn't particularly sharp, but short passes to his running backs LeSean McCoy and Sproles turned the night into gold. Foles finished with 331 yards passing, with Sproles (152) and McCoy (23) accounting for 175 yards of the total.
Nick Foles, QB9/9/2014 2:09:00 PM
Description: Eagles quarterback Nick Foles may have to throw some shorter passes next week, given the condition of his offensive line.
Insight: The Eagles will be without both Allen Barbre (ankle) and Evan Mathis (MCL) who were injured Sunday and without Lane Johnson due to his suspension. Foles was sacked five times Sunday and that was against Jacksonville, who is not one of the league's top defenses.
Evan Mathis, G9/8/2014 12:10:00 AM
Description: Eagles guard Evan Mathis is believed to have suffered an MCL injury.
Insight: Mathis was rolled up on while engaged with a rushing lineman and it didn't look good, but at least it isn't an ACL. The Eagles offensive line will be thin as Allen Barbie (ankle) also was injured in the season opener.
Nick Foles, QB9/7/2014 6:25:00 PM
Description: Eagles quarterback Nick Foles was, like his team, ugly in the first half but very good after the break.
Insight: The good - Foles threw for 322 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The bad - he was sacked five times and threw an interception. And this was against the Jacksonville Jaguar.
Evan Mathis, G9/7/2014 2:55:00 PM
Description: Eagles guard Evan Mathis is out with a leg injury and is not expected to return.
Insight: Mathis was rolled up on while engaged with a rushing lineman and it didn't look good. Having a replacement on the line won't help the already struggling Nick Foles.
Chris Polk, RB9/7/2014 12:03:00 AM
Description: Eagles backup running back Chris Polk is out for Sunday's game against Jacksonville due to a hamstring injury.
Insight: The Eagles are carrying only three running backs to start the season - LeSean McCoy, Darren Sproles and Polk. Polk has no fantasy value unless there is an injury.
Chris Polk, RB9/2/2014 10:48:00 AM
Description: Eagles backup running back Chris Polk is questionable for Sunday's game against Jacksonville due to a hamstring injury.
Insight: The Eagles are carrying only three running backs to start the season - LeSean McCoy, Darren Sproles and Polk. Polk has no fantasy value unless there is an injury.
Matt Barkley, QB8/30/2014 3:21:00 PM
Description: Philly.com is reporting the Eagles are "open" to trading third-string quarterback Matt Barkley.
Insight: The Philadelphia Daily News had a similar report about a week ago. The Eagles, however, won't receive much in return for Barkley, perhaps a sixth or seventh round pick.
Cody Parkey, K8/30/2014 1:42:00 PM
Description: The Philadelphia Eagles place-kicker job apparently really was up for grabs and the Eagles have a new kicker for Week 1 - Cody Parkey.
Insight: Parkey hit from 53- and 54-yards Thursday night, so he's obviously got a strong leg. If he wants to keep the job he'll need to be accurate as well.
Cody Parkey, KHot8/29/2014 9:38:00 AM
Description: If the Philadelphia Eagles place-kicker job was really up for grabs and not just coach-speak, then the Eagles probably have a new kicker for Week 1 in Cody Parkey.
Insight: Parkey hit from 53- and 54-yards Thursday night. This could be the end of the line in Philly for Alex Henery who hit just 82.1 percent of his field goal attempts last season.
Zach Ertz, TE8/27/2014 10:54:00 AM
Description: Eagles tight ends coach Ted Williams told the Philadelphia Inquirer that Zach Ertz is "one of the best route-runners I've ever seen."
Insight: Fellow tight end Brent Celek remains the starter, but Chip Kelly used two-tight end sets 20 percent more often in the last eight games of 2013 than in the first eight games and should continue to use more this season. Celek has also developed into a great blocking tight end, so at the position, Ertz should see a majority of the targets. He is a low-end TE1 that can provide some excellent value and upside in a late round.
Dennis Dixon, QB8/25/2014 10:47:00 AM
Description: Quarterback Dennis Dixon has been released by the Buffalo Bills
Insight: Dixon simply hasn't proven that he has enough talent to compete at the NFL level.
Jeremy Maclin, WR8/21/2014 10:05:00 PM
Description: Eagles receiver Jeremy Maclin went down in a heap after making a cut in the first quarter, but he returned in the next series and looked fine.
Insight: Maclin missed all of 2013 with a torn ACL and has dealt with nagging injuries his entire career. He's a high-risk, high-reward option.
LeSean McCoy, RB8/21/2014 10:02:00 PM
Description: Eagles fans and a lot of fantasy owners were sweating when running back LeSean McCoy left Thursday's game with a thumb injury, but X-rays were negative.
Insight: Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane says there are no fractures or torn ligaments. This an example of why its best to draft just before the season begins. Now that he appears fine and has two weeks to heal, he should still be a high first-round selection.
Kenjon Barner, RB8/21/2014 3:36:00 PM
Description: Newly-acquired running back Kenjon Barner could mean trouble for Eagles backup Chris Polk.
Insight: Polk has been sidelined by a torn hamstring. He ran well when given a chance last year (11 carries for 98 yards and 3 TDs), but his roster spot could be up for grabs with Chip Kelly having brought in Barner, who played for Kelly at Oregon.
LeSean McCoy, RB8/18/2014 7:17:00 PM
Description: Eagles running back LeSean McCoy missed practice Sunday with what he called "a small version of turf toe," but he practiced Monday, according to csnphilly.com
Insight: McCoy said he hurt the big toe on his left foot during a joint practice against the Patriots last week. He said he had an MRI and X-rays and is "fine." It shouldn't be a problem for McCoy, last year's leader in yards from scrimmage with 2,146, come Week 1.
Cary Williams, DB8/17/2014 3:07:00 PM
Description: Eagles DB Cary Williams was injured (hamstring) on his 77-yard interception return in the first half of Friday night's game.
Insight: Williams should be ready for the start of the regular season, but don't expect him next Thursday against Pittsburgh. The Eagles have given up 625 net passing yards in two preseason games and can ill-afford any injuries in the defensive backfield.
Nick Foles, QB8/16/2014 2:45:00 PM
Description: Eagles quarterback Nick Foles completed 8-of-10 passes for 81 yards and a TD in Friday's preseason game.
Insight: He threw two picks in the first preseason game but rebounded nicely. His ADP dropped from the early sixth round to the early seventh over the past two weeks, but it's on the rise again.
Jordan Matthews, WR8/16/2014 2:43:00 PM
Description: Eagles rookie receiver Jordan Matthews rebounded from a poor showing in the first preseason game (three drops) with nine catches for 104 yards on nine targets.
Insight: Coach Chip Kelly attributed Matthews' struggles in the opener to first-game jitters, and it appears he was right. With Jeremy Maclin, Riley Cooper and Josh Huff all banged up, Matthews is getting key reps with the first-team offense. He could have a larger role than expected early in the season and is a candidate to break out later in the year.
Josh Huff, WR8/15/2014 8:48:00 PM
Description: Eagles rookie receiver Josh Huff left Friday's preseason game with a shoulder injury and won't return, according to Zach Berman of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Insight: Huff is Philadelphia's fourth receiver so this wouldn't be a big deal for fantasy purposes if everyone was healthy. But Jeremy Maclin (hamstring, knee) and Riley Cooper (foot) are both ailing and sat out Friday.
Jeremy Maclin, WR8/14/2014 1:32:00 PM
Description: Eagles receiver Jeremy Maclin left Wednesday's practice with a hamstring injury.
Insight: Maclin missed all of 2013 with a torn ACL and has dealt with nagging injuries his entire career, but he's expected to serve as the No. 1 passing target in Chip Kelly's high-octane offense and has WR2 upside IF he can play 16 games. He's only done that once in five seasons.
Jeremy Maclin, WR8/13/2014 3:51:00 PM
Description: Eagles receiver Jeremy Maclin has been beating Patriots cornerback Darrelle Revis in one-on-ones during the teams' joint practices this week. SOURCE: Jeff McLane, Philadelphia Inquirer
Insight: Maclin missed all of 2013 with a torn ACL and has dealt with nagging injuries his entire career, but he's expected to serve as the No. 1 passing target in Chip Kelly's high-octane offense and has WR2 upside if he can play 16 games.
Riley Cooper, WR8/10/2014 1:45:00 PM
Description: Eagles receiver Riley Cooper (foot) returned to practice Sunday.
Insight: Cooper missed Friday's preseason opener with a foot injury. He had 47 catches for 835 yards and eight touchdowns last season, but he also saw a lot of single coverage with DeSean Jackson on the other side of the field. Jackson was cut in the offseason and Cooper could take a step back if his yards-per-catch average drops from 17.8. He's unlikely to catch more than 50 passes.
Jordan Matthews, WR8/10/2014 1:41:00 PM
Description: Eagles rookie receiver Jordan Matthews dropped two passes and had just 14 yards on four catches in the preseason opener.
Insight: Coach Chip Kelly said Matthews may have had some first-game jitters, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. "He was inconsistent," Kelly said. "There was a ball on the sideline he could have caught. I don't know if he was pressing, but there were some inconsistencies there. Sometimes it's the first time for guys in the bright lights so they can have a chance to play that out of their system and calm down." Matthews has received consistent praise during training camp, but his performance Friday is a reminder that he's still a rookie in an offense that is both run-heavy and has a lot of receiving weapons.
Josh Huff, WR8/9/2014 10:14:00 AM
Description: Eagles rookie wide receiver Josh Huff only caught one ball for four yards, but returned a kickoff 102 yards.
Insight: Huff locked up a spot on the roster, but his fantasy value will likely be limited to special teams in his first season.
Nick Foles, QB 8/8/2014 9:10:00 PM
Description: Eagles quarterback Nick Foles threw two interceptions and went 6-of-9 for 44 yards in Friday's preseason opener.
Insight: Foles threw that many picks on 317 throws last season. The Eagles have been trying to get Foles to get rid of the ball more quickly than last season to avoid sacks and he reportedly hasn't looked great in training camp yet. He'll also have to overcome the loss of DeSean Jackson this season, so he comes with some risk at his sixth-round ADP, but Chip Kelly's offense gives him top-five upside.
Zach Ertz, TE8/6/2014 8:05:00 PM
Description: Sheil Kapadia of Philadelphia Magazine says that Eagles tight end Zach Ertz is going to be the team's most utilized receiver in the red zone this season.
Insight: The 6-foot-5, 250-pounder had five TDs in the last nine games (including playoffs) as a rookie. The Eagles have plenty of options for Nick Foles to throw the ball to and a run-heavy offense, so Ertz' fantasy value will be touchdown-dependent.
Jordan Matthews, WR8/5/2014 2:22:00 PM
Description: Eagles rookie receiver Jordan Matthews has been dominating the second-team defense and played with the starters Tuesday, according to Zach Berman of The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Insight: Matthews reportedly looked like the best receiver on the team during spring practices and has continued to impress. With Riley Cooper (foot) and Jeremy Maclin (day off) sitting this practice out, Matthews got to play with the ones. By the end off the season he could overtake one of the two expected opening day starters.
Darren Sproles, RB8/3/2014 7:50:00 PM
Description: Eagles running back Darren Sproles has been working with the wide receivers as well as the running backs, according to a Philadelphia Inquirer report.
Insight: Just goes to show what Chip Kelly is thinking about. Sproles will do more than lineup in the backfield and could have solid receiving numbers. He should be able to produce fantasy-worthy statistics in PPR leagues.
Jordan Matthews, WR7/30/2014 6:03:00 PM
Description: Eagles rookie receiver Jordan Matthews has been dominating the second-team defense, and beat reporter Sheil Kapadia thinks he's ready for a test against the first team.
Insight: Matthews reportedly looked like the best receiver on the team during spring practices and has continued to impress during camp. He may surpass Jeremy Maclin as the team's No. 1 receiver even if Maclin stays healthy.
Jordan Matthews, WR6/10/2014 8:13:00 PM
Description: Eagles rookie receiver Jordan Matthews, the No. 42 overall pick in the 2014 draft, is reportedly shining at OTAs.
Insight: Jimmy Kempski of the Philadelphia Inquirer said Matthews has "looked like the best receiver on the team" and added that "it hasn't been close." His colleague Jeff McLane said Matthews has yet to drop a pass. This will be an interesting situation to watch, as the Eagles had one of the best offenses in the NFL last season and released No. 1 wideout DeSean Jackson in March. Matthews will be competing with Jeremy Maclin, who is coming off an ACL tear, and Riley Cooper, who may have hit his ceiling with 835 yards and eight touchdowns last year, for targets.
Jordan Matthews, WR5/9/2014 8:00:00 PM
Description: The Eagles traded up to 42nd overall in the 2014 NFL Draft to select Vanderbilt receiver Jordan Matthews.
Insight: Eagles coach Chip Kelly needed a receiver after the team cut DeSean Jackson, and he wanted one with good size. Matthews is 6-foot-3 and had huge hands and set SEC all-time records with 262 catches and 3,759 yards. He should be a factor as a rookie, but we expect Jeremy Maclin to be Nick Foles' No. 1 target.
Mark Sanchez, QB3/28/2014 12:54:00 PM
Description: Mark Sanchez is officially a Philadelphia Eagle quarterback.
Insight: Sanchez, who missed all of last season while recovering from shoulder surgery, will be the backup for starter Nick Foles. Barring injury to Foles he has no fantasy value.
DeSean Jackson, WR3/25/2014 1:45:00 PM
Description: Philadelphia wide receiver DeSean Jackson told his teammates Tuesday that he would be back with the Eagles in 2014. SOURCE: Philadelphia Inquirer
Insight: This came after Jackson and coach Chip Kelly apparently talked for the first time since the end of the last season. We're not sure what to make of this news, but if the two can get along, it makes no sense to trade or cut the talented wide receiver.
Mark Sanchez, QB3/24/2014 9:28:00 PM
Description: Mark Sanchez will join the Eagles as soon as he passes his physical. SOURCE: ESPN
Insight: Sanchez missed all of last season while recovering from shoulder surgery. Assuming he passes his physical, Sanchez will be the backup for starter Nick Foles.
DeSean Jackson, WR3/23/2014 3:49:00 PM
Description: Philadelphia is considering releasing wide receiver DeSean Jackson as a result of his refusal to restructure his current contract. SOURCE: Manish Mehta, New York Daily News
Insight: It seems as though Jackson has played his final game as an Eagle. Philadelphia's preference would obviously be to trade him but if teams are unwilling to take on his huge cap figure ($10.5 million in 2014), cutting him will be their only option. The Jets, Panthers, Patriots, 49ers and Seahawks are among the teams interested in Jackson.
DeSean Jackson, WR3/22/2014 3:55:00 PM
Description: Eagles wideout DeSean Jackson now appears to be fully "in play" on the trade market, though most of the interested teams would likely end up hurting his fantasy value.
Insight: Jackson's big contract ($10.6 million in 2014) is the problem for most of the teams. His best landing spot, other than staying with the Eagles would be New England. If he ends up in Oakland or with the Jets ... lookout below. He caught 82 balls for 1,332 yards and nine TDs in Chip Kelly's spread offense last season.
DeSean Jackson, WR3/21/2014 10:05:00 AM
Description: Numerous teams are said to have inquired about Eagles wideout DeSean Jackson.
Insight: Some of these rumored teams would be a disaster for Jackson's fantasy owners (read Jets, Oakland) and some would be middle of the road (49ers, Carolina), but if he ended up with the New England Patriots he'd likely increase in fantasy value.
Michael Vick, QB3/19/2014 8:18:00 PM
Description: Free agent quarterback Michael Vick is scheduled to meet with the Jets on Friday. SOURCE: New York Daily News
Insight: As inconsistent as Vick can be, he'd be a huge improvement over Geno Smith. A one or two-year deal would make sense for both sides.
DeSean Jackson, WR3/18/2014 6:41:00 PM
Description: If the Eagles are willing to give up DeSean Jackson for only a third-round pick, the Patriots will certainly be interested. SOURCE: John Beattie, NESN
Insight: As great as Jackson would look in Patriots blue and silver, the move would put New England over the salary cap. An easy solution would be to grant Vince Wilfork his release, which he asked for about a week ago. Jackson (82 catches, 1,332 yards, 9 TD last season) would give Tom Brady the deep threat he's been missing since Randy Moss left in 2010.
Darren Sproles, RB3/14/2014 1:40:00 PM
Description: Eagles running back Darren Sproles had his contract extended two years through 2016, according to Adam Schefter.
Insight: Sproles, who will be 31 in June, is apparently not just a one-year experiment. In the innovative Chip Kelly offense, he will be a tough matchup for the opposition to cover and still keep an eye on LeSean McCoy and DeSean Jackson.
Michael Vick, QB3/6/2014 5:05:00 PM
Description: Vikings running back Adrian Peterson tweeted that he wants to play with Michael Vick.
Insight: Vick was benched in favor of Nick Foles last season but he'd still be an improvement over Christian Ponder, the only Vikings quarterback currently under contract. Our own NFL editor John McMullen recently ranked Vick 28th on his list of the top-50 free agents.
Jason Avant, WR3/4/2014 6:59:00 PM
Description: As expected, the Eagles have released veteran wide receiver Jason Avant.
Insight: There were just too many mouths to feed in Philadelphia's crowded offense. Avant (38 catches, 447 yards, 2 TD in 2013) will earn a roster spot somewhere this offseason, though we doubt he'll have any fantasy value.
DeSean Jackson, WR3/2/2014 2:33:00 PM
Description: Philly.com's Jimmy Kempski hears the Eagles could be open to trading Pro Bowl wide receiver DeSean Jackson.
Insight: That does seem like a possibility now that Philadelphia has gone out of its way to re-sign Riley Cooper and Jeremy Maclin. Obviously, Nick Foles would take a major fantasy hit without his best receiving weapon. We'll have to see how this one plays out.
Jeremy Maclin, WR2/28/2014 4:00:00 PM
Description: Jeremy Maclin will stay with the Eagles after agreeing to a one-year, $5.5 million deal. SOURCE: Adam Schefter, ESPN
Insight: Maclin missed all of 2013 after tearing his ACL, but he should be fine for the start of next season. With Riley Cooper also coming back, the 25-year-old is unlikely to match the 122 targets he saw in 2012.
Riley Cooper, WR2/27/2014 8:30:00 PM
Description: The Eagles signed Riley Cooper to a five-year, $25 million contract Thursday. The contract includes $10 million in guaranteed money. SOURCE: Adam Schefter, ESPN
Insight: Cooper had some off-the-field issues last offseason after being filmed using a racial slur at a concert, but the team decided to keep him and he ended up with 47 catches, 835 yards and eight touchdowns. He had 742 yards and seven scores on 39 catches in 11 games after Nick Foles made his first start. However, his fantasy value may take a hit if the team re-signs Jeremy Maclin, who missed all of last season with a torn ACL.
Riley Cooper, WR2/26/2014 9:22:00 PM
Description: According to Geoff Mosher of csnphilly.com, a league source says Riley Cooper will sign a four-year deal with the Eagles Thursday. Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reported earlier today that the deal was close.
Jason Peters, T2/26/2014 11:33:00 AM
Description: The Eagles and starting left tackle Jason Peters have agreed to a four-year contract extension. SOURCE: Adam Schefter, ESPN
Insight: The new deal is worth $41.3 million. Peters would have been a free agent after the 2014 campaign but now he's under contract until 2018. The 32-year-old has been to six Pro Bowls in his last seven seasons.
Jason Avant, WR2/26/2014 9:56:00 AM
Description: According to Brandon Lee of SB Nation, the Eagles are likely to release wide receiver Jason Avant before his $1 million roster bonus kicks in on March 15th.
Insight: Even with Jeremy Maclin sidelined, all Avant could muster last season was 38 catches for 447 receiving yards. At age 30, Avant has already peaked. Cutting him loose would free up almost $4 million in cap space.
Colt Anderson, S12/30/2013 12:04:00 PM
Description: Eagles safety Colt Anderson is questionable for Saturday's game against New Orleans due to a knee problem.
Insight: Anderson primarily works the special teams, but against the Saints and Drew Brees (5,162 passing yards, 39 TDs) the Eagles could use as many defensive backs as possible.
Earl Wolff, S12/30/2013 12:01:00 PM
Description: Eagles safety Earl Wolff re-injured a knee against Chicago and missed the regular season finale against Dallas. He's questionable for the playoff game against New Orleans
Insight: The Eagles need every available defensive back to play against Drew Brees and his talented wide receiving of Marques Colston, Lance Moore, Kenny Stills, Robert Meachem and tight end Jimmy Graham.
Earl Wolff, S12/24/2013 10:33:00 AM
Description: Eagles safety Earl Wolff re-injured a knee in Sunday night's game with Chicago and could miss the regular season finale against Dallas.
Insight: The Cowboys have an excellent receiving corps with Dez Bryant, Miles Austin, Terrance Williams and tight end Jason Witten so any weakness in the secondary is a problem even with Kyle Orton at quarterback.
LeSean McCoy, RB12/23/2013 9:25:00 AM
Description: Shady McCoy went off for 162 yards (133 rushing, 29 receiving) and two touchdowns Sunday in a win against Chicago.
Insight: McCoy continues to be outstanding for the NFC East-leading Eagles. Sunday marked the former Pitt Panther's third multi-touchdown game of the season. It was also his sixth 100-yard rushing performance. Unless Jamaal Charles has a monster Week 17, McCoy is going to win his first rushing title (he leads Charles 1,476 yards to 1,287).
