Boston, MA (Sports Network) - With his club's season on the line, Boston Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron will play in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals on Monday.
Bergeron left a 3-1 loss in Game 5 at Chicago on Saturday night and was taken to a hospital in an ambulance.
The Bruins on Sunday said only that Bergeron had been discharged from the hospital and did not divulge the reason for the visit or any type of injury. He was set to fly home with the team Sunday after being released from a Chicago hospital Saturday night.
Near the midway point of the second period, Bergeron took a short shift and appeared to be in discomfort. He stayed on the bench for the rest of the period, but took only one more brief shift.
When the Bruins came out for the start of the third period, Bergeron wasn't on the bench and the team later announced that he was taken to a local hospital for observation.
Bergeron has nine goals and six assists over 21 games in the playoffs.
Down 3-2 in the best-of-seven set, the Bruins must win to send the championship back to Chicago for a deciding Game 7 on Wednesday.
